°o° °o° °o° 9/11/09 DCL Announcement Discussion Thread °o° °o° °o°

I may very well be wrong and if I am, I'll be the first to admit. I'm harder on myself then anyone else can ever be. I just don't see Disney raising tier pricing on bookings between the 21st and the 28th. That would alienate a lot of people. Now, what they actually do remains to be seen.

Also, as I said earlier, with all the different cruises, sail date and new ship offered at the PC time, I don't think anyone will have trouble at all booking on this cruise if they want to go.

Hope you're right!

That is how it was on 1/31/07 for the 2008 PC repo and MR cruises and last October for the Med, Baltic & TA cruises. They will have the prices on the 21st but they won't be posted on their website until at or just before 8 am ET on 9/28.

There will be a thread on the board for people to post what they were able to book and at what price on the 21st. We have done this the past few opening booking days. Hopefully the prices won't go up as quickly as they did on the PC repos on 1/31/07.

How much did prices go up in one week?

Do we have any confirmation that TAs can book for EVERYONE on the 21st regardless of CC level? That doesn't seem fair.

We are booking Alaska no matter what the cost is. It has been our dream for a long time to do Alaska with DCL.

I do hope the prices aren't bad or go up because then I won't have to listen to my hubby complain this is costing us a fortune for the next 2 years

I do wish they were one way cruises though. We would have loved to see more of Alaska.

I LOVE that idea. From your mouth to DCL's ear!

I wish DCL would consider that too for those of us not willing to take kids out of school

AND

for the :teacher: who can't take off at that time of year.

I'll have to wait until I retire in 16 years!!!! Ugh!

There is definitely a lodge at Brooks . . .
http://www.katmailand.com/lodging/brooks.html

. . . or did you mean no lodge at Traiter's Cove?

Jodie

I was talking about Traiter's Cove. That's what you asked me about, where we were viewing bears and if there was a lodge there. There isn't. You can only get there by floatplane and then have to hike a bit to get to the bear viewing stand.

I inquired on Friday with my TA about Alaska, and she said, since have only been on 1 cruise so far, she could not book me until 9/28.

Lois,

Are you and Janet doing this cruise too?

Denise, Janet and I are booked on another Back 2 back in October 2010. As much as we would like to go on the Panama canal cruise I think we will stay were we are. There are several reasons the first being that I am not confortable booking without knowing the cost ahead of time. The second is we really enjoy the water sports and having warm water is awesome. We will not have that in January.

I just can't decide what I really want to do. I guess sometime next spring/summer I will know for sure. How is everything down your way? Lois

And watch more TV. Oprah is also on in the morning and she is in Chicago. 2 more strikes. You’re outta here.:happytv:

Depends where you live. In NY it's in the afternoon. Knowing it's syndicated, I knew it shows in different time slots around the country. That was a joke, son. Laugh a little.

I just got off the phone with my TA (who is taking our itinerary requests for booking on 9/21) and here is what I was told:

We WILL NOT know prices until she actually books our cruise on 9/21. Disney is NOT posting them as they do not want the public to see them before 9/28.

And Shocker -- the deposits for both Alaska and the Med cruises for 2011 are $600 PER PERSON! So even if you want to get a couple of quotes and hold some cruises to "think about", you'll be out a lot of money for a while. And since Disney is using this policy this year (must place the deposit at time of booking), I see a LOT of TAs requesting cancellation refunds down the road:confused3

Also, current deck plans don't seem to be viewable either unless you are booking I would guess.

You can see current deck plans here on the DIS. Just click on Staterooms in the light blue bar at the top of this screen and then Stateroom Locations.

Also, I finally figured out where they are on the DCL website. On the home page, hover your mouse over Ships and Activities, which will bring up a sub-menu. Then click on Ships. You'll then see a picture of the Magic and Wonder and at the bottom of that picture are boxes that say Slide Show, Video, Virtual Tour. Click on Virtual Tour, and then Tour in the little box that pops up. A 3-D rendering of the ship will come at you and then turn sideways and a list of the decks will be on the right side. Click on a deck # and you will get a cutaway of that deck with little red Mickey Mouse heads. If you hover over each Mouse head, it will tell you what is at that spot. What a PITA it was to finally find that, let me tell you!

They are really going to be $600 per person? Who has $2400 laying around to deposit on a vacation that's 2 years away???
I already have a deposit for 4 people on my 2010 cruise that I might move to Alaska, but adding $1900 to this might be a slight problem. Especially since I still have a couple of WDW trips in between to pay for.

Unfortunately, for those booking on 9/21, since it is call-in only, your deposits will be $600 pp. Starting on 9/28 when you can book online, the 50% online booking deposit special will apply (so I was told by a DCL CM). So for those of us who book online, our deposit should only be $300 pp.

Yes, you can see the deck plans with cabin numbers but it does NOT tell you what the new classifications of the cabins will be for cruises starting in 2011 for the Magic and the Wonder.

What if you have to call on 9/28 (instead of booking on-line) because we are going to transfer our Nov 2010 cruise to Alaska 2011. Would the 50% deposit discount apply or do I have to give them another $1400 on top of the $1000 they already have?

That is how it was on 1/31/07 for the 2008 PC repo and MR cruises and last October for the Med, Baltic & TA cruises. They will have the prices on the 21st but they won't be posted on their website until at or just before 8 am ET on 9/28.

The EB Repo sold out in about 4 hours and increased considerably in that time. The WB Repo sold out a couple days later and also increased. This thread has links to discussions that day regarding price increases during the day.

Good question. Try calling and asking this week and see what they tell you.

That's real easy to find - NOT! I didn't go as far as the virtual tour. Some of the stuff on the website is great - other stuff the programmers had their head in the sand when they did it - it makes no sense at all. I know the deck plans are available elsewhere - heck I must have at least 10 hard copies here. But, I was meaning on their website. Thanks for finding it. Now if they would just have a link to what they will look like in 2011.
