Snow White is the worst Disney DVD release yet. The DVD comes with the Blu-Ray version also, I was very POed to find out that the bonus features were on the Blu-Ray disc. I bought the DVD version obviously because I dont have a Blu-Ray palyer, why would they have the bonus features on only the Blu-Ray version? Total tease. Anyone else mad about this?

i'm not sure what the bonus features are but i do know that blu ray's have more capability so it may just be that the reg dvd was limited in capacity. or maybe they were just trying to jip you

Yeah I bought it today at Target and was confused. You could buy the dvd (slightyly larger box0 or the blue ray (blue ray size box) for the same price but they were exactly the same thing (they both contained a blue ray and a dvd). I was looking online and it appears that in november they are releasing a dvd only version, no idea why they did it that way (does disney want us to buy blue ray machines) :confused3

Apparently this is happening with all DVD's. DH and I noticed it the last couple of times we rented DVD's. They want everyone to switch to Blue Ray and this just gives the consumer one more reason to make the switch.
I don't think it is a space isue on the disc as DVD's used to have bonus features before and suddenly they can't fit?

Yup, I just X Men Origions on DVD, what did it have? A normal movie, scene selection and a little documentary about the movie... THATS IT.

It seems like Blu-Ray is now becoming the standard form of watching movies now, just like VHS was replaced by DVD's, now we have to move on with blu-ray.

Very annoying I must say.

The Snow White DVD has not been released. It will be released in November.

The Blu Ray includes a DVD copy of the film, so that you can watch it in your minivan or on your computer.

That is annoying. But I have a Snow White DVD from a few years ago and it has two dvds. It has a long list of extras. It is the Platinum Edition. What I don't like is when we get a bluray disc and there are hardly any extras on it. If it has all that extra room and we paid more for it, it should come with extra stuff.

I won't be getting Snow White on bluray. I just can't imagine how it would make that much difference visually since it is so old. Sleeping Beauty was amazing in its time for its artwork and is even better on bluray. Pixar movies are also very good and Nightmare Before Christmas. I am still amazed at all the detail you can see on bluray that you miss on reg. versions. We aren't replacing all of our movies, just ones that we watch over and over. And many we just rent on Netflix. If you have a new tv anyway, you may as well take the plunge and get a bluray player. Our 15 year old tv died a year ago so we had to get a new tv and thought we may as well get the bluray player to go along with it.

Blu-ray holds a lot more information, but it really does you no good unless you havd a HiDef tv to view it on through an HDMI cable hook up. The players have come down to about $130 and probably be less on or after black Friday.
The double disk makes the Blu-ray people happy since now they have two options to play the movie.

This.

Disney is encouraging adoption of the Blu-Ray format by releasing that version one and a half months before the regular DVD. The DVD included in the Blu-Ray is a bonus for people with portable DVD players. This will likely continue with all future Diamond releases from the studio.

For those questioning the value of Blu-Ray on such old films, I would encourage you to read the review of Snow White or Pinocchio over at Digital Bits. If you have an HDTV, Blu-Ray is the only way to go.

Be happy you atleast have Snow White, I have to wait a week :).

If you only have a DVD player and the blu-ray comes with a DVD, buy the Blu-Ray and that way when you do upgrade you don't have to buy again. Wish I had done that with Sleeping Beauty now I have the Blu-Ray with bonus DVD and the DVD Set.

Also I plan on buying every Disney Animated Movie on Blu-Ray even though I have alot on DVD. IMHO it looks awesome!!

For some reason its begining to be the norm. Don't know why, just is.

Of course, by the time you've bought all the movies on blu-ray to replace your DVD's which you bought to replace your VHS, there will be another new level of technology and you'll have to buy all the movies all over again in the new format.

All Disney releases are coming out in the combo packs that have a Blu Ray, DVD and a digital copy for your iphone, ipod or digital device. Any subsequent release of the same movie will be out on DVD only a few months later.

Only a year ago, I finally got all Disney/Pixar movies on DVD and now we're in the process of converting them all to Blu Ray and giving all the DVD movies to my partners nieces and nephew. We're trying to desperately convert the children to become huge Disneydorks like we are. :)

I do have to say that the Blu Ray versions we've bought, especially the latest Sleeping Beauty, are absolutely amazing. I've never seen SB so colorful, bright and clear in my entire life. I'm so anxious to see Snow White now that's it's been cleaned and restored. Blu Ray players have drastically come down in price and you can play your dvd's on them and they'll even look better then before.

Please report back how the Snow White is on bluray. Since you've seen how amazing SB is on it, I would love to know how it compares.

I just bought Snow White today, we love watching any animation on blu ray, it is so much clearer, you see things you would not normally notice on DVD.

Even this one? I guess I just have a hard time thinking there is much detail to see in an animation this old. We saw both versions of Bolt and saw a big difference between them.

I kinda expected something like that. Blu ray is not doing so hot in this economy, people are questioning if its worth it to spend the extra ten bucks on a dvd just because its blu ray. Disney wants blu ray to do well and have been pushing it pretty hard so it doesnt suprise me that they would do this to continue to push blu ray. However it is still a jip :confused3
