Biggest Loser 8 Fall Challenge -- for losers and maintainers!

Luvbaloo thank you! I appreciate that.

Pjilla a  for you also...it's got to get better from here right???

My current favorite fruit is pomegranates...yum!!!

Anyone got a big shoulder I can cry on? I am having such a frustrating day. After FINALLY getting the stupid tree decorated last night, it FELL OVER today!! And to add insult to injury, the fall broke two of my favorite ornaments. One was a handmade glass ornament that DH got me our first year of dating. The second was a large Mickey head ornament that DD got me in 2005 to commemorate our trip to DL that year. Plus all of the water spilled out of the tree base and soaked three of my already-wrapped gifts. I just sat on the floor and cried for a few minutes. I just don't need this frustration right now.

I got the STUPID tree back up and adjusted the base and all seemed well so I redecorated and was about half done and it fell AGAIN!! And of course, it broke a few more ornaments.... a glass angel that DS got me a few years ago and it broke bits and pieces off of other ornaments that can probably be glued back. And lots of those glass balls broke, but other than the frustration and mess, I don't care about those.

I sat and cried AGAIN and yelled to God that I had had enough already!! I just want to get my tree finished and my house cleaned up so I can stop stressing about it.

My tree skirt got soaked, so it is in the washer now (thank goodness it is washable). My carpet also got wet, so I have to wait for that spot to dry before I can vacuum there. And I have no Superglue, so the broken pieces will have to sit and wait until tomorrow.

DS will be home in an hour and then we have to leave again at 3pm to run to the bank and pickup DD for swim... then I will run an errand (to buy Superglue!) while she swims and then I will pick her up early to bring her to her Rainbow Girls Christmas party tonight. I have managed to only get 2 rooms in my house reasonably clean and I have NO Christmas groceries in the house. All I can say is Thank GOODNESS that it is just my parents coming and not any in-laws.... I would be freaking out!

Thanks for listening.

QOTD: What is your favorite fruit?

I love fresh apples... always have. But by spring the apples are pretty icky around here. I have a hard time thinking of a fruit that I DON'T like. But apples would probably be my number one pick, followed by green grapes, bananas, kiwi, blueberries (fresh and warm from the sun), cherries, pears, clementines, pineapple.

Well... I can't type any more because this STUPID ergonomic keyboard is driving me nuts. PLus I need to hit the shower, even though I am NO WHERE NEAR DONE with my house work. oh well..........:sad2: ..............P

That really stinks pjlla. I had my wallet stolen about 2 weeks ago..over $100 in cash, license, credit cards, debit card...plus receipts for toys at TRU! I was able to get a print out from their computer, so if the items are duds, I will be able to return them. I hate it when CRAP happens, but I am taking deep breaths, and realizing that it just does, CRAP just happens...it happens to everyone. I use to freak out, go find some peanut m&ms and have a pity party, but NO MORE! Food won't make me happy, won't fix my problems, and I will just feel bad after eating what I didn't need to. I always say to myself, there are better days ahead. My wallet is gone, but I will replace my cards, the cash is gone, maybe the person was really down on their luck..yes, it was a crappy thing for them to do...but it isn't the end of the world. It could be a wallet getting stolen, or the tree coming down again..and again...we are all going to be ok...better days ahead!

Its great to see so much positive attitude at the end of the challenge!

Thanks to all the coaches! It was great seeing all the different QOTD!
Thanks to Dona for keeping us thinking healthy with the COW!
Thanks to Lisa for keeping it all organized!

Thanks to all the participants! :cool1::thumbsup2

Thank you, LuvBaloo for being our weightkeeper! That is a big job!

Thank you, donac, for being the keeper of the COW! Glad your DS' passport arrived in the snowstorm.

Thank you to all of our coaches who kept things moving!

And thank you to all of our participants! You guys are the best!

pjlla, to you on your tree disaster. Hope it stays up for good now. Did you buy it from where tigger813 bought her tree? :confused3

 to you, redwalker, sorry about your wallet.

It is a cold, cold day here at WDW. We are going to need a lot of hot chocolate at Wishes dessert party -- better to be cold at WDW than stuck in a bunch of snow!

Haven't had a chance to read through all the posts but I want to wish you all Happy Holidays! :santa:

Lisa - Happy Holidays to you too! Stay warm - LOL  (Haven't seen above freezing her in MN in weeks - though upper 20s today felt like a heat wave.)

pjlla - sorry about your tree!

corinna - 11 miles - wow that's great! I'm up to 28 minutes in our C25k challenge. I don't know what the deal is but the past week or so I've felt crappy during my runs. Hopefully we are both having better workouts next run. :thumbsup2

Sounds like everyone is really busy these last few days before the holiday. I was running around to different stores today trying to find some "nice casual" pants for myself. During the work week I wear business clothes, on weekends I slub it in yoga pants or jeans that are too big. I've got a week ahead visiting with family and friends and exactly one pair of jeans that are my current size. I love that I lost a bunch of weight - now I need to find some pants! I tried Banana, Gap & Target. What is the deal with GAP sizing? When did I become a size 2?! I haven't been in there in a few years. I know that sizing has shifted, but that's insane. Where do the "real" skinny people shop? In the end, I didn't find anything that looked/fit right in a style I liked. Guess I'll be wearing that one pair of jeans all the time!

:lmao: Well, it seems colder when you are on vacation -- we've had a ton of cold weather at home, too, but I hadn't bundled up like I did last night and I was still cold. It was wonderful and we all had a great time. DS couldn't get over it and having the nice seating out of the fray. They we got to exit backstage -- that was interesting to see -- and so nice not to traverse the sea of humanity.

Good job on needing new pants, princessbride6205!

Have a wonderful holiday all! :santa:

Somehow I just knew that tree was not done with you. We were watching the news a couple of days ago and they had a thing on Holiday stress. There was this doctor on and he was saying how people need to realize that it's just another Holiday and to have fun. I was sitting there thinking-- have fun? Easy for you to say Doctor. But it stayed with me and I'm really just not stressing so much.
If it makes you feel any better I have a prime rib that wants to do me in. First the checker rang it in twice by accident. I was bone tired and had other groceries so I didn't catch it. Also the coupon I had that was supposed to take $6 off of it didn't work. Got it all fixed. Was too tired to do the crusting yesterday so I had at it at about 10 pm last night. It has been years since I did the kosher salt crusting but it's an angus rib roast so I thought it would be nice. Stupid stuff wouldn't thicken up. Kept falling off and knocking off my herb crusting. Thought I could get away with half a box for a 5 pound roast but I will put the rest on this morning grr.

**and oh yes-- still need to do the bulk of my wrapping.

Just checking in -- My 5M run became 3 this morning. I just didn't have it in me. Three is better than zero...everything is wrapped, I hope. I still have a batch of cookies to bake and candy to make on Christmas Eve. I also have to make the final Christmas grocery goodies shopping list. My weight is staying steady, and that's about all I can hope for at this point. I'm trying to go light on the treats, some days are better than others.

Right now I have a room to straighten and I need to finish getting myself ready for the day. After I showered from the TM I started picking up the house, and I never finished getting me ready. At this point I'm not going to bother with breakfast. I hardly ever skip, but it just wasn't going to work today...

Maria :upsidedow

Sounds like we're all busy getting things done before Christmas.
I thought I'd share a picture of me heading off to work yesterday morning at 7:30am. I'm so happy the shortest day of the year is past and it will slowly start having more daylight hours in the day!
082558.jpg

redwalker - sorry to hear about your wallet getting stolen, that is so crappy! You have a great attitude about it :thumbsup2

lisa - glad you're having fun at WDW!

princessbride - hopefully you can go shopping in the New Year and find some clothes you like that fit :thumbsup2

50sjayne - What is kosher salt crusting?

Worfiedoodles - hope you managed to get a good snack in. I usually skip breakfast on work days, and have a good snack soon after getting to work. I consider it a "delayed breakfast":lmao:

Speaking of holiday stress - I really think the key is to decide what is "good stress" and what is "drive-you-bonkers stress". I always am busy trying to get lots done at the end, but as long as I'm happy trying to cram things in, then I figure its okay. :goodvibes Last night I finished wrapping all the presents except DH's and both DD's. Still have holiday baking to do, but the amount of baking that gets done will depend on how much time I end up with. The only 2 things that have to be done is the birthday cake for my mom (Dec25 is her day!) and the chocolate chip cookies for my dad and father-in-law and some gingerbread cookies for the girls to decorate. No problem it will all get done!:goodvibes

I'll be on tonight to post final results!

That certainly puts my tree into perspective. Hopefully you didn't have too much cash in there. My Mom accidentally left her purse at church the other night (she was there for a meeting). When she went back for it the next morning it was gone....kind of weird and frustrating, since it was in a classroom, not in a public area. And she had just cashed a check so that she would have some cash to give the kids for Christmas...:sad2: THankfully her glasses, keys, and cell phone were all with her. What a tough time of year for that sort of problem though!!

pjlla, to you on your tree disaster. Hope it stays up for good now. Did you buy it from where tigger813 bought her tree? :confused3

Haven't had a chance to read through all the posts but I want to wish you all Happy Holidays! :santa:

Nope... we grow our own trees, so no one to blame but ourselves!!

I am thinking of you drinking lovely hot chocolate while watching Wishes. The best I can do here is a cup of decaf (with skim milk,of course) and my Wishes CD. But I'm making the best of it!! ENJOY YOURSELF!! :thumbsup2

Somehow I just knew that tree was not done with you. We were watching the news a couple of days ago and they had a thing on Holiday stress. Yes.... I get it about the stress. As I was ranting to God yesterday, I told him that YES, I understand it is NOT all about the tree or the ornaments or the gifts, or even about having a clean house!! I TRULY understand the deeper meaning of this holiday and always have. But sometimes it just seems like things are conspiring against us! I am NOT a high stress person at all.... I'm not a worrier and it takes a lot to stress me. I guess it was more just frustration.

I am DESTRESSING by taking the kids to see A Christmas Carol tonight. They aren't really into it, but we ALL need some relaxing time and I need some Christmas spirit!! I told DD she was going to take the night off from swim practice and we were going out to RELAX!! (Although I'm not sure she will stay awake for the movie.... she was up doing homework until after 11pm last night and then up at 4:40 this morning to head to swim practice )

I am definitely having a better day today. I got in my workout nice and early and then headed off to do my holiday grocery shopping early. I was home with the car unloaded by about 10:15 am (30 minute drive each way to the store). I have prepped all of my vegetables for my meals for the next four days. I prepped my apples for the Christmas eve apple crisp. I cooked the hamburg for the chili for tomorrow night. I had a nice 0 point vegetable soup for lunch to save my points for some movie popcorn and candy!! The house is still not really clean (at least, not up to my "company" level of clean), but I am just going to deal with it. The tree stayed up all night, so hopefully we are past that crisis. I got all of the banking and outside-of-the-house errands I needed to get done yesterday DONE, so that is something.

THanks to EVERYONE for their support and sympathy when I was having such a bad day yesterday. I didn't call my Mom, as I usually would when I am that upset, because I just didn't feel like talking about it.... but it helped a lot to be able to come here and unload.

Anyone here planning on exercising on Christmas day?? I'm thinking about it. I was going to exercise this past Sunday so that I could skip Christmas day, but things got in the way and I never got in that workout. Does it seems obsessive to think about planning a workout for that day? Maybe I should just add 15-20 extra minutes to my Thursday and Saturday workouts and call it good?? Any thoughts??

Well... one hour until time to pick up DS from the bus, so I must make the most of my time!......................P

Hey everyone - I'm so looking forward to the new challenge and a chance to start over. I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas Holiday this week!!

Just popping by before I leave work. I haven't turned on my computer at home the past couple days so that I would do my wrapping and cleaning that I need to do to get ready for christmas eve. Had a busy weekend and did a lot of baking, and some indulging, but didn't go crazy. Also doing the wii fit most mornings, and that definitely helps start the day off on the right foot.

Pjlla- Hugs on the tree fiasco. It is the broken ornaments that are so sentimental that is so frustrating. Hope things are looking up.

shannon- thank you. I love the pic of you getting ready for work. We got 8 inches of snow on sunday, and it looks so pretty for christmas. I'm sure being in canada, you get so much more than we do in newengland.

Jennz- thinking of you, and hope you are doing ok. I'm hanging in, trying to enjoy the season. We're starting michael's school vacation with Alvin and the chipmunks seqquel tomorrow night.

Lisa- Ohhhhh what I wouldn't give to be spending a cold night in the magic kingdom. Sounds like a fabulous time. Enjoy. I hope some warmer weather comes your way.

Hope everyone is having a good week. I liked reading about the holiday stress, and like you 50s jayne, I'm trying to not stress about things this year, and if my house isn't as clean as I like it, so what.

Wishing you all a blessed and happy holiday.

Glad to hear you're having a better day.
And nope, I'm not planning to exercise on Christmas day. By the time we open stockings/presents, have breakfast, get ready, pack up the van and drive 1.5hours to get to my mom's the day will be done. If I get WiiFitPlus, I may try it out quickly, but it depends on time.

Hey everyone - I'm so looking forward to the new challenge and a chance to start over. I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas Holiday this week!!

Merry Christmas to you!

I was just writing out cards and still have a number to do. Went grocery shopping this afternoon with ds1. Ds's are supposed to help me bake tomorrow afternoon. I still have some mittens and scarves to put finishing touches on them and gift cards to buy at the bank but I wanted to get my paycheck until I do that.

Then to top it off dh is going to kill me. We both had yesterday off because of snow. He decided to paint the downstair bathroom. He found a half of gallon of the pink we used last time. I ddin't mind the pink since he wasn't going to change the border. Throw on top of this I had to take ds2 for his shots (6 of them). The appointment took over 2 hours. The RN talked him about the possible diseases and some precautions to take. Then he started to get his shots. He got through 4 of them. When the 4th one went in he said "That one hurt" and the next thing we know his eyes are rolling back. He fainted. He came to right away and got through the rest of the shots but they wanted him to sit for a while to make sure that he was okay. By the time we got back to the car he was asking me for lunch since he was hungry.

We got home dh is painting and we start to work on ds's visa application. Everytime we turned around he needed something else from someone else. So I was getting frustrated that we couldnt get this done and it was just sit around and wait. Then dh comes out of the bathroom and tells me that when he pulled off the painters tape from the border the border ripped. There is no getting around it. we now need to replace the border with 3 days before Christmas. Luckily we are not having people over until the 26th. He came home today with 4 samples and by dinner we had decided on 1. If it is in stock tomorrow he will pick it up. We are usually home pretty early from Christmas at dh's parents so he can do some work on it then and then on Sat morning.

Have a nice evening. I too am trying to enjoy the season and I think I will as soon as I get out of school tomorrow at noon.

Wow! what a lot going on Dona!
I didn't realize people were still going to school. Do you just get one week off?

Before the weekly superstar list comes the disclaimer. I am human and I make mistakes. If you have any questions please contact me. For your reference this is the magic percentage of weight lost formula - weight loss for the week divided by weight for last week times 100, that gives us the percentage. Now let me test that with my numbers for week 1, click, click, click goes the calculator. Yes, that agrees with the percentage on the magic spreadsheet.

Now let's get to the good stuff. Who were our superstars of week 14? This week I’ve went with a simple TOP 12 LIST, which also happens to be everybody that got over 0.5% loss! That criteria may change from week to week. Congrats Tammy Alphabet! I'm so excited I finished 2nd overall!

So looking forward to the next challenge and being a coach.

Haven't had any time to workout this week! Only had 1 client this week which was probably for the best due to my burn on my finger.

Yesterday I worked and then ran errands and then made cookies and candies from 3-10 last night. Got everything ready for the class room parties (at least I hope I do)! Had a nice lunch with DH at his work. Had some yummy drumsticks for supper and a few drinks to numb the pain of the burn. Yesterday I was 161 so I'm maintaining pretty well. I'm going to have a bunch of new exercise workouts to try as of Friday as I'm getting at least 3 and maybe 4 fitness related gifts.

Ordering pizza tonight as I don't know what else to have and with running around all day I won't have time either. Still have DH's gifts to wrap today. All week I haven't known what to have for supper. We've had pancakes and drumsticks.

Maybe I will get in some type of workout today (though with my list of things to do today I don't know when I'm going to actually eat lunch)! Guess it will be a snack lunch or I'll throw in a lean pocket before heading to the first school party.:santa:
