Official DISNEY Cake Chatter Thread - Part II

My DS loves trains (and the monorail). I was wondering about getting a birthday cake with the Lilly Bell train. Any advice??

Having gleamed everything from these boards, I decided to order a special cake for my DGD 5th birthday. We had dinner reservations at 1900 Park Fare for our first night, so I called Pat at the GF. She called back and suggested a Mickey Mouse Head cake. I told her I would prefer something with the Princesses, and we decided on a 6 inch yellow cake with buttercream in pink. Pat said she would have the Princesses done in white chocolate. I did ask for cream and strawberries filling. Pat said they really didn't do that for the 6 inch cake but would ask for us. The price was 54.00. I told her that I would like some flowers. Well the cake was beautiful! Since we had too much dinner, we took it back to our room. We finally cut into it a couple of days later, and, it was delicious too! I'd love to post a picture, but just don't know how to do it. But, if someone can tell me how, I'll be glad to post.

Thanks Karen

Can anyone reply? Anyone there at all?

I replied just a few posts down from your original post. :)

There is no white chocolate Donald & Daisy topper available, and Disney doesn't sell inedible toppers. What several Disney brides have done is buy this WDCC figurine and use it as a topper (it can usually be found for less on eBay).

Alternatively, the bakery could do a screen print of any D&D image you find for the top of the cake or on a piece of white chocolate, if you're OK with that look.

Our trip is fast approaching and my mom and I have decided to go ahead and get a custom cake for my dad's 60th bday - the cakes and info on this thread sure helped convince us.

We're hoping "Cakemanbri" can do a Tools-from-Handy-Manny theme. My dad is an electrician and jack-of-all-trades and my 3 toddler nephews love Manny's tools! I called private dining today, got the email address, and sent an email off. Now I'm just waiting for a reply and doing Google image searches ... there are some really nice Handy Manny cakes out there!

To post a picture on the DIS you need to put the photo on a photo hosting site like Photobucket, Snapfish, or even HERE on the DIS. Then you will copy the IMG info, use the "Insert Image" icon above the message portion of your post (looks like a mountain with a yellow sky), paste the IMG info, click OK and you are done. On the Photobucket site it will give you the option of copying the IMG info for the picture or a clickable smaller picture which is great if you don't want to resize your photo for the forums.

Well, I have been in contact with Brian at Contemporary to try to figure out what I'm going to get. I am doing a mini tiered wedding cake for DD's 8th bday. We are doing the Disney cruise, debarking on her birthday and spending a few days at BLT.

I need opinions also- should I have them send the cake to my room at BLT for my daughters birthday or have it at Chef Mickey's for dinner that night?

And I also want to get some balloons for the room, but Disney Florist is sooo expensive for balloons. Any other ideas??

Could somebody please tell me, for the one tier cakes with the castle on top, (the SMALL one), is cheesecake a good choice?? Or should I go straight up chocolate cake?

I've never used the insert image here. Didn't even know what it was for. I would say photobucket is the most popular site to use and I just copy the IMG link and paste it here, where you want it and your picture will show up. I also didn't know you could use sanpfish. where do you find the IMG code on that?

Just sent off an email to cakemanbrian last night and got a reply back already. Now I need to decide what to get! :confused3 I gave him 3 ideas of what I was thinking. It's my dh and I 10 yr anniv. We were married at Sunset Point at the Polynesian. The party consists of Dh and I our DS 5 and DD 2 and MIL and FIL. He said the 8" Haunted Mansion cake would be $85, a white butter-cream w/some simple designs w/ the little castle on top would be $65 and then my other idea was one covered in fondant w/ Mickey Head stamps around the side and some tropical flowers and then I was going to bring our Mickey and Minnie cake topper from our wedding and that would be $100. I like that one the best, but I'm not sure I want to worry about the cake topper. We are going for a late dinner on a non-park day, so it wouldn't be as big of a pain if it was a park day. Hmm, I have to decide and email him back here. What would you guys get? Ds wants a test track cake and dd wants a princess cake. We got the Mickey head cake last yr for them, this one is going to be themed for us. It's not like they aren't going to like it or eat it.

For your anniversary, the one with the castle on top sounds pretty, combined with the tropical flowers from the idea that you like best. Then you wouldn't have to worry about the topper, you'd still have a theme that reflects your wedding and the price would be somewhere in between $65 and $100.

Just my thoughts, obviously, it's gotta be what will make you and your spouse happiest :)

Didn't think of that! See, that's why I posted, b/c I get stuck on certain tracks and sometimes have a hard time deviating. Thanks!

In June we celebrated my grandson's 12th birthday at Disney. We had dinner Mama Melrose at DHS during Sar Wars Weekend. I called the cake hotline about 2 week prior to our trip and ordered a custom cake for him. I had my choice of either chocolate or vanilla (I chose the vanilla since it is his favorite). They said they could screen print the top of the cake to decorate it and I told them to use something Star Wars since he is such a big fan. The cake was wonderful - it tasted sooo good and was beautifully decorated. It was vanilla cake and between the tiers was a yummy custard filling. The cake was frosted with what tasted like white chocolate and was then decorated with a screen print of Darth Vader, Mickey sprinkles, and white chocolate shavings. The cost was about $32 and was added to our dinner tab. It was money well spent. They also provided us with a cakebox to take the leftovers back to our resort. My grandson LOVED it! Here is a picture of the cake - the picture doesn't do it justice though!

.... can't use Snapfish to post pictures. I was trying to think of another photo site and that was the only other one besides Photobucket that came to mind. Snapfish is great for making albums though. :)

Gregowa- Love the Darth cake! Fantastic price too! Having something screen printed from the MK bakery is quoted at $30 just for the image. Thanks for sharing the pic!

Ordered a " fancy cake" from Pat at GF for dinner at Narcoosees. Asked for wishes themed cake.....WOW. $110, white cake with white chocolate filling.....

Well, I still seem to be missing something, as I did upload to Photobucket, copied the IMG info into the "insert image" on DIS but all I got was the address and no picture. I'll try again, later. Thanks for the help! Karen

I also emailed the first time yesterday and have heard back twice from Brian. (Talk about efficient!)

It turns out that, due to maintaining character-integrity, they cannot make hand-moulded versions of Handy Manny's Tools. As Brian put it, they can't have a character on a cake that doesn't look exactly like the character would on screen or in real life. (Never thought of that before, but it makes sense.) Oh well, I'm sure we'll come up with something.

Have fun deciding what option to pick. I like the fondant idea with tropical flowers and maybe no topper at all - but as a PP said, choose what you and yours would like best. :goodvibes
