The Sweet Meet - Dis'ers do Hershey

Hershey's problem isn't even just the lack of hub and spoke, It's the fact the park is almost like a "9" in it's layout. Even Universal's layout with the loop is better since you can still easily make your way around in a semi logical manner.

Not to mention the hills! :headache:

Great time this weekend! We have been home for a little while now. Got Todd to the airport successfully and even had time to go visit the Hershey Hotel and buy some yummy cupcakes.

Lood forward to seeing everyone in December.

Dodie and I made it back to my house a few hours ago. What a great weekend. It was wonderful to see old friends and new friends. We had an absolute blast! It was just what I needed.

Jeff, we had the same conversation driving home today. Yes, I am a Disney snob. Don't get me wrong I liked Hershey, but Disney is on a whole 'nother level. I know people complain about Disney's food prices. What I saw at Hershey was right in line with what WDW charges. Maybe a tad more expensive. Disney wrote the book on crowd control, movement of people and theme park layout. Lee Cockerell would be shocked to see the behavior of some of the Hershey employees.

Don't get em wrong, I enjoyed myself this weekend. It wasn't about the park though. It was getting together and spending some with great friends and people I truly love.

Hope everyone got home safe! See you in December if not sooner!!!

Deb-you can bunk with us anytime!!!!!

I completely agree! Hershey was a blast, and I loved meeting everyone this weekend. But I did find myself missing the "simple" Disney layout, and much flatter terrain! DH commented that one day walking around Hershey felt like a couple days in Disney.

Glad to hear everyone is arriving back home safely. Looking forward to seeing you all in December!!! Enjoy the rest of your summer!

Hi all,

Got home around 7;40PM...took us 14hr and 20 minutes but we got there:thumbsup2

We had a blast this weekend and enjoyed meeting eveyone... my only regret was getting back from the park last night around 8:00PM... cleaning up and instead of heading straight to the lobby I laid down... Guess what LIGHTS OUT.... Louise said there was no way she was going to be able to wake me up....

What a great bunch of Disers you all are...

Thanks for a great time,

Louise & Mark

p.s. Andrea... you rock... awesome job.... THANK YOU for all your exceptional work.

Got home about 8pm tonight. About a 7 hour drive without much stopping. The rain was unbearable at times. Glad it pretty much cleared in NY and CT.

We had a fabulous time seeing old friends again and meeting new ones. Hershey was fun. I just wish I would have had more than a day for the park. My only regret is that we got seperated from our DIS friends early on and spent the good early part of the day catering to the kids Boardwalk area wishes. Never really got hooked up with anyone again until later in the day and left the park just after 8:30pm. A long day.

The tailgate time was a blast Friday and Saturday night.

And many thanks again to Andrea for the idea and wonderful coordination.

More posting tomorrow. Now I'm ready to drop. :wave2:

I got home around 10:30 or so. Uneventful travel day for me once it finally got started.

It was great to see some DIS friends that I already had the pleasure of meeting as well as meeting new ones.

Thank you Andrea for putting this together!

I'm glad you and Louise made it - it was great to meet you and hang out for a bit. Thanks for the gift, totally not necessary! I was wondering where you were on Saturday night, then you called me on Sunday morning and it made sense! I was wiped out last night myself, I couldn't even stay awake to watch Big Brother! See you in December!

I've learned quite a few things from organizing this meet - so if there is another in the future, it will be a little different.

Same thing happened on Saturday with us - because we had the kids my family and Jen's family stayed together and did the kiddie things. We only saw you guys in passing, and Katherine and John at lunch and at the wave pool during the infamous "evacuation", but never really saw anyone else.

I got home around 10:30 or so. Uneventful travel day for me once it finally got started.

Geez, so glad I saw you at Fuddruckers, because that's the only time we met up! Hope you had a great time with your friends, and at the park!

Adding my thx to Andrea & everyone else for the good times

Fab to meet catch up with friends & meet new Dis'ers

dctall & wimpy - thx a mint for directional help so we could be coaster commandos at rope drop. Too bad we didn't run into many others during the day.

The boardwalk was fun & saw & rode all we wanted of HP btwn the preview & a FULL day - left around 10:30pm, in time to catch a bit of tailgating

They sure can use some Disney processes - the lone CM loading of the fender bender would have been comical if we weren't having to witness it thru the queue

The map was sad but the app was pretty good. Food was way better than at our local 6 flags - panini, mango fruit smoothies, massive funnel cakes with a ton of strawberry topping. Choc World was fun & we bought a box of bakery cookies to share @ the tailgate but got caught up in the yacking & left it - & my drink - in the car. :goodvibes:

cheers,
:flower3:

ps: doing this via eticket so can't multi-quote...when you know the emoticon list it's a sure sign you're on the boards too much LOL

Glad that you all had fun. I was thinking about you all when I drove past the "packed to the gills beyond anything I've ever seen it" parking lot Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, I think it was a record breaker day but it sounds like the Disers were able to persevere.

Here are some pictures - keep in mind that they're from my phone - so not top quality.

Kathy and I went into New York City on Thursday, where we went up in the Empire State Building (something I'd never done on my previous NYC trips).

There, Flattie Brandie met King Kong:

And fugitives Bill and Christy went up to the top for the view:

We finally made it home last night a little after 10pm. The finally tally was 2,967 miles! :scared1: We had an absolute blast getting to see everyone so it was worth every mile. :goodvibes I am dragging a bit at work so caffeine is my friend today. :surfweb:

Thank you Andrea for organizing this event! I know there had to be several headaches involved in coordinating all of the logisitics and I thought everything went perfectly. Thank you as well to all of our new and old DIS friends for being so welcoming and making the weekend truly special. :grouphug:
