Picking up park tickets earlier than check-in

That policy has been the same for at least the last year and a half.

Alright, so nothing has changed.

The exact wording is what I posted. There have been times when guests have been allowed to pick tickets up early, on a case by case basis.

Ahh. Very interesting! I must be one of the "case by case" instances becuase when I booked my split stay on Wednesday and flat out told the CM I was planning on picking up my tickets early...she had absolutely NO comment. I'm sure I'm not the only one. In fact I must have been a "case by case" instance when I did it last year too.

Seems like CRO is going strictly by policy but Guest Relations is going by "what is actually done". So, the policy is pretty much pointless , in my opinion!

There's email and im, sunshine.

Well, then perhaps you should clarify. Because you specifically said guest relations calls. Not IM, not email, not whatever.

Now I get that you're defensive because nobody believes you (and with good reason, you don't have any cred here) but seriously, if you're right we'll all find out soon and I'm sure apologies will be in order.

Until then, stop digging your hole deeper. Being snarky isn't going to win you any support either.

Lest we get too far afield (I think we may have passed that stage awhile back...)

I have to agree.

I've been here long enough to have seen just about any weird policy come through.
I know that what was happening on Tuesday may no longer be the case on Thursday.

So, again, I'll post:

I'm thinkin' that in the next day (or week) we're gonna find out just who comes out
the winner in this bizarre CM info Showdown.

I believe her. I think that Disney has figured out (seriously, like they don't check out the Disboard) that people have figured out a way to obtain free dining when they're aren't actually arriving on the free dining dates. It's their way of cracking down on it. If they didn't care what your arrival date was they wouldn't have blackout dates for free dining, is what I figure. This is their way of steering people towards actually arriving on those promotional dates.

The "dining" credits are attached to the Resort Key-card, not the park tickets.

The the Resort Key-card is not picked up until the day that the package begins.

I think he's just saying that Disney doesn't want you to have free dining if you're trying to do a split stay or if you do they want you to pay retail for the two or three day ticket instead of getting the discounted multi day tickets.

The economy is in the crapper and Disney wants to nickel and dime us to death. It's really getting irritating.

Sorry, but I don't-

A- get the connection.
B- know if anything has actually CHANGED in regard to "early pick-up."

Here's my completely uneducated and uninformed guess: WDW is trying to limit this from happening in hopes that people will hear the warning from CRO, get nervous that they won't be able to pick up their tickets early and will end up buying two sets of shorter term tickets (one set of 3 day tickets for the days they arrive before their package kicks in and then another set of 4 day tickets with their package, for example).

However, my guess is that if you actually try to pick up your package tickets early, you won't really have a problem. I think they are just hopeful that enough people will be scared enough by the warning to not attempt it and just buy two sets of tickets, hence the new emphasis from CRO of the policy.

Again, I have no actual information about the situation, this is just my guess.

Ding ding ding! Kind of like the new upgrade rules that weren't exactly publicized. In that case they're hoping the guests will just assume things are business as usual and then they get dinged for the expensive days 1-3 again when they don't upgrade in time.

What I am saying is...Free dining starts on January 8th for example but if you're going to be there the 5-11th like we are(swtaying off property January 5-8, and at the Poly 8-11), well Disney wants you to do it their way or no way. They don't want us to be able to stay off property for the first few nights and then switch to a Disney hotel on the date that the free dining starts and be able to get free dining and save money by picking up our tickets early. Not being able to pick up our tickets early and having to buy 2 sets of tickets makes Free Dining costs us more money in the long run.
It's bending the rules to them and they don't want it to continue. If you can't play by their rules they don't want you in the game. They want you to arrive on their free dining dates or they dont want you, is what I think.
Personally, I think that regardless of free dining or not, if I want to book a 3 night package with 6 day tickets it shouldnt matter when I use those 6 days, wheter it's 3 days prior to check in or 3 days after check out.
If they would let someone make a room only reservation from the January 5-8 and pick up tickets that were part of a free dining package starting on January 8 then they'd be giving Marathon guests free dining, which I"m guessing they don't want to do. People are going to come for the marathon regardless of free dining promos or not.

And that's more than possible too. Who knows, Disney is hard to figure out.
I just hope that everybody that's counting on picking up tickets early is going to be able to with no problems!

But, they are taking care the "base" ticket requirements by allowing "free dining" to be purchased with a TWO-DAY minimum ticket already.
Their design, their numbers.

AND, they allow ticket upgrades (after the first 4 days) at a rate of $8 per day (their numbers, they designed it.)

Simply getting those "extra days" on the front end doesn't change anything on the bottom line.
