Ok i think we are looking at a west and east crib out of Miami? i went to jan of 2013 and it showed the same thing. it will be docking at Grand Cayman Once every 2 weeks. one week east and the other west. and going back to what Cruisin Castaway said:

I would not be surprised if they send the Wonder to Miami. I recently completed a DCL Survey that talked about potential future itineraries which listed 4, 5, and 7 night itineraries from Miami.

It indicated the 4 nt. going to Nassau and Castaway Cay. The 5 nt. had three options: Nassau, CC, Key West OR CC, Grand Turk, Turks & Caicos OR Grand Cayman, Cozumel.

The 7 nt. included: CC, St. Maarten, Tortola.

It will be interesting to see what they decide to do.

Ok, so we have Possibly Miami, Key West, and possibly Grand Cayman. and someone said something about Bermuda?

The Bermuda calls I saw filled in the spring/summer/fall gap that's in the middle of the Grand Cayman calls. It makes sense, as Bermuda is not a cold-weather cruising destination.

These posts are making me so sad as a west coaster. Anything out there that indicates that DCL might come back during the summer to go back to Alaska? At least?

Alaska was a very popular Destination and a VERY high demand. so i think they would need too

Very sad Australian, too. It's financially and logistically so much easier for us to travel on a West Coast cruise. The strength of the Australian economy (including the parity of our dollar) is a huge, largely untapped market for Disney.

It makes perfect sense and they could still do Alaska again if they want. The ship will go another canal cruise to go to Alaska. But it makes sense and opens lots of possibilities on future cruises from Miami.

Me too. I'm very sad right now thinking the Wonder won't stay. We have about 30 days to go until our cruise but I already know it is going to be amazing and really want to re-book onboard, but if it leaves the West coast, who knows if we will be able to go again :(

Has anyone pondered the thought that the Magic when going into drydock in 2012 may be upgrading/getting their own outlook cafe? Maybe the Magic will do Hawaii/Alaska in 2013? and the Wonder goes to the Med for 2013? A total Jaw dropper for all of us DISers?

I thought I read though (and I could be wrong) that the Wonder was specifically outfitted for Alaska?

Well the Magic is going into Drydock for I believe 2 months plenty of time to outfit her with an outlook cafe and strengthen her hull for ice

Here's what I think- They will do the 4 night. Then one of the 5 nt. Lets say they do the order you said, so Nassau, CC, Key West. After those 2 they do the 7 nt. Then after that cruise another 4 nt but for the 5 night, it will go to CC Grand Turk and Turks & Caicos. Then another 7 night. Then next same 4, GC and Cozumel for 5 nt and then same 7 night. Rinse and repeat.

So...
Round A- CC, Nassau (4 nt.), Nassau, CC, KW (5 night), CC St Maarten, Tortola (7)
B- CC,Nassau (4), CC GT, T&C (5), CC ST Maarten, Tort. (7)

C- CC, Nassau (4), GC, Cozumel (5), CC ST.M, Tort (7)

The week don't add up evenly like the Wonder schedule used to be but it could be productive and successful from Miami this way IMO

What a bummer... I really wanted to do Alaska with DCL. At first I was against it but after reading all the trip reports. I really wanted to go in 2013. I'm wondering how much of the violence in Mexico played a factor in cancelling on the West Coast.

I haven't read all the posts here yet, but I think this is the main reason. They already cancelled Mazatlan earlier this year and did 2 nights in Cabo. Alot of cruise lines are pulling out of Mexico because of the violence. While I'm sure most tourists are safe, some aren't. DH is not allowed to go to Mexico right now because he is military. It makes me really sad for the people who live there and depend on tourism to make a living.:sad2:

Well I am sticking by what my friend who works for DCL in Celebration said. The contract options for 2013, and 2014 have been picked up by Disney for the Port of L.A. Also the Port of L.A. website has the Wonder listed for Sunday Dec 30, 2012 using berth 93, but in all fairness nothing listed for Jan 2013. Also my freind said they are not cancelling mexico yet but reworking the itinerary. This is the same friend who told me to not pay attention to the Grand Cayman listing for Oct 2012 for the Wonder as she was going back to Hawaii, so I get good info from my friend. I will just wait and see, but I don't think they are going back east so fast. Who know I maybe wrong but I hope not.

Maybe DCL is going to be like other cruise lines and bring the Wonder West in the spring for a few cruises out of LA (Hawaii, Pacific coast) Alaska in the summer and back East for the winter.

If they did this they would still need a contract in LA.

There is nothing that has to be done to the Magic to sail to Alaska. Alaska isn't Antarctica, you know! What DCL has done to the Wonder with the Outlook Cafe was merely for an additional enclosed space for viewing.

I thought I read though (and I could be wrong) that the Wonder was specifically outfitted for Alaska?

Nothing special had to be done to the Wonder to outfit it for Alaska. The Outlook cafe was added so the Wonder would have more enclosed viewing space. This was needed since the Disney ships do not offer interior spaces with walls of windows like many of the other ships sailing Alaska.

The Magic sailed the Baltic region in 2010 without any special outfitting and the climate is very similar to Alaska.

Why cancel all the Dec. 2012 bookings rather than leave as-is and change the itinerary THEN allow people to change their ressie if they so choose? If they just rework the ports of call, then there are going to be some upset people who have had to go through some of the frustration of having to movie their booking just to see possibly better ports? IDK, there are lots of rumors going around and many of them are conflicting. Captains, servers, DCL employees, they all say different things.

Maybe they are doing a PC cruise on the Jan 30 2012. I say they go to Miami Jan-May. Then in May go back West and do Alaska/Hawaii in the summer. I've also heard from reliable sources, that because of feedback from Mexcio, they will stop going there. But anything can happen...
