I am going for 5 days, but didnt want to buy hoppers. So if i buy 7 days of tickets, can i visit 2 different parks in one day on 2 of the days of my trip?

I hope my question makes sense.:goodvibes

Nope. You can't visit two parks in one day with a base MYW ticket. You must add the hopper option to do that.

Nope, not unless you're some kind of time lord.

You cannot use two days of a non-hopper ticket to get into two different parks on the same day.

On the surface your question does make sense. However, when you see that the ticket itself is labeled "one theme park per day" or "not valid for park hopping" (if they still do that) things will be better clarified.

A different ticket card will work. If you are going to the Very Merry Christmas Party or similar event with its own ticket then you don't need a hopper (or any regular ticket at all) when you arrive when they let party goers in, typically starting at 4 PM.

You can add the hopping feature when you arrive at the second park you want to enter on a given day. (Some obscure limitations apply.)

You can return to the first park you visited that day. (Some obscure limitations apply.)

Think of the ticket as one theme park ticket good for amission on x number of days not just x number of admissions.

The turnstyle marks the ticket when you enter and you can only use that ticket at that park that day unless you have the hopper opion. You can however, leave and return to that same park.

Oh, wow-I really thought I could! Darn. So then another stupid question-why can I buy more tickets than days that I am going? Is that for future use?

The only way you would be able to use extra days in the future is if you purchase the non-expiration option. Disney has this all figured out and in order to park hop or use extra days on future trips it will cost you extra.

You can make the remaining days non-expiring, although many times this is not cost effective compared with buying separate tickets for each vacation.

Same reason you can buy 2 plane tickets and only use one, or buy more desserts than you currently have room for in your stomach. If you want to buy something you won't need they won't stop you.

I have noticed, though, that when you price out a package they give you a ticket for both arrival and departure day, as a default......

Better answers:
(2) The ticket agent doesn't know how many days you are going at the time he is selling you the ticket.
(3) Other folks planning longer vacations than yours want to be able to buy more days.

The number of days on a ticket accompanying a dining package need not be the same as the number of room nights. For most packages the minimum ticket order is one day tickets; for free dining promotions the minimum order is a two day ticket for each person

A base ticket is one major (theme) park per day. You are allowed to re-enter the same park if you leave it on one day, but it can only be used at the one park.

Note that the ticket will state on it either "Not Valid For Park Hopping" or "One Theme Park Per Day". That should be a hint.

If you put the ticket in the turnstile of another park the display on the Guest side of the turnstile will be "ACCESS DENIED". The top line of the display on the Greeter side will give information about the ticket, and the second line of the display will say "CROSSOVER NOT PERMITTED". The turnstile will not unlock.

This is because Disney charges $8.00 per day over four days on a ticket, but charges $55 to allow hopping. It does not make economic sense for Disney to allow this.

If you actually have multiple tickets (more than one physical ticket per person) as opposed to multiple day tickets, you can use these tickets for multiple entries. But it makes absolutely no economic sense as a separate ticket costs a lot more than adding hopping to a ticket.

Or, as I have occasionally told Guests who were arguing with me about using a different day on the ticket: (note day of week stated can vary)

The turnstile computer thinks today is Friday. The turnstile computer at the other park also thinks today is Friday. The two turnstile computers talk to each other. If you can convince this turnstile computer that today is not the same Friday as the other computer thinks, it will let you in.

The cost to add hopping (or WPF&M) is $55 ($58.58 including tax) per ticket. It does not matter if it is adult or child, two days or ten days, first day of use or last day of use, the price is the same. (For a Florida Resident it is $27.50 plus tax.) (Note to add hopping to a one day ticket is $35 ($37.28 including tax).)

So if you are not sure, don't order them. If you find you do need them, then upgrade your tickets at any ticket window or Guest Relations Office. It only takes a minute or so.

.

I have noticed, though, that when you price out a package they give you a ticket for both arrival and departure day, as a default......

This is why Packages are too expensive, IMO
I NEVER need a ticket for departure day & if we drive-get there too late for arrival day..
SO I ALWAYS book Room Only, then the exact days (hoppers) for the tickets-which we but at hotel:)

Thank you all for taking the time to help me out with the answers! This will be my second visit to Disney in my life so I don't really know lots.

I wish it could be more than a 5 day visit, but I have to look on the bright side- I'm going to Disney for 5 days!!

The number of ticket days is not locked in to the number of nights in a package. You can get a 9 night package with the dining plan and only get a 1 day park pass if you wanted.

You can change the number of days you have on your tickets when booking a package as well. The default on the WDW website is to include ticket days for your arrival and departure day, but you can change that with a simple click.

You could be moving to another hotel for the additional days. You have up to 14 days from the first use to use the remaining days unless you buy the non-expiring.

Example. Not for WDW, but Disneyland, but same situation. We bought tickets with a package onsite, then moved to a different hotel for several more days. Same thing can happen at WDW.

Along with simply changing the number of days you need tickets for, I highly recommend looking into buying tickets through a discounter like undercovertourist. TOTALLY on the up and up, great service, real, normal tickets, and for me every dollar counts.

In addition to what has already been said.....

Adding a day after the fourth day of a multi day ticket, the cost is only about $8 per day.

How can that be too expensive? I can understand if you are staying for short trips, but anything after 4 days it's really not a factor.
