Check with your auto insurance, most of them now have a plan that you pay a fraction of the price of AAA for. We have it on USAA and it's something like $3 a month and does the same thing as AAA, we had it when we had Liberty Mutual, too. Sometimes they are even better than AAA.
I didn't even think about checking our insurance. I checked and this is what they have under road side assistance:
Towing Whenever your vehicle requires more than at-the-scene service, you can use your roadside assistance coverage to tow it anywhere within a 15-mile radius, or to the nearest qualified repair facility if one doesn't exist within 15 miles.
Flat Tire Change No need to panic if you have a flat. A roadside professional can put the spare tire on your vehicle at the scene.
Battery Jump-Start Call us if your battery fails. If possible, it will be jump-started at the scene to help get you on your way.
Emergency Fuel and Fluid Delivery If you run out of gas or your vehicle overheats, get the required fuel or fluids you need delivered directly to your vehicle. You only pay for the cost of the fuel or fluids. The delivery and service is free.
Locksmith Service If your keys are lost, stolen or accidentally locked inside your vehicle, we will dispatch a qualified service provider. You only pay for the cost of the keys.
Plus, I think the extended warranty that we have on our car has the same stuff. The paperwork in in the MV, so I'll have to check it later. I'm not sure if AAA has more to offer to where it would be worth the cost.
It is driving me insane. We don't yet know the dates of his AT, the Army will let us know when they get good and ready. His civilian employer wants to give him trouble and the Army says they can't. It's just back and forth between the two, but at least I know that we have the Army behind us if his employer tries to pull something.
It's not like his employer is paying him for the time he's gone. He's a good, reliable worker who puts up with alot, and they need to see that. He can be aggrivating sometimes, but he is a good man. He was told that if his vacation request was approved prior to AT, then they have to honor them, but I am waiting for them to pull a fast one, we will be ready to fire back.
Well, hopefully you won't have to fire back. My DH worked for someone like that, way back when he was doing the fast food manager thing. I was pregnant with our first at the time. He was the assistant manager and he would easily work 80+ hours a week (many more than the actual manager). There were many days where he would open and the manager would call in 15 minutes before he was supposed to be there to work the evening/closing shift and tell the DH that he didn't get much sleep and needed to take a nap. Then the DH would have to open and close the place, and that would happen 1-2 times a week. Then they gave him heck for having to stay with me in the hospital when I was put there at 31 weeks pregnant. (well my job gave me heck about it as well) He manager literally told him that "it's not a vacation. I need to know the exact date you'll be back."
