Disney Wonder - October 14, 2012 - Hawaii

We are at the 5 months mark! It's sneaking up on us quickly. It's time to start planning my FE gifts, my door magnets, my transportation to and from airport and hotel and hotel and port!

We booked our transportation on line. I'll see if they can post a list on the first couple of posts. I found three van services and I went with the $$ for us because I am cheap or frugal depending on your perspective.;)

I have an idea of what I am going to make for FE gets, but waiting to see how many. Now door magnets, that is a whole bother world for me. I am to anal about them. I have been trying to think what I want. sometimes I do multi magnets and spread them out over the cruise. I also do all the magnets for my group...slackers. I always have our name tags that look like the cruise members and am thankful we have such talented people on the DIS to make them.

WOW, I bet there won't be as many children as usual because of the length of the cruise and time of year.

We just came back and there was about 190 kids on board of Wonder. Kids enjoyed all extra attention from characters and in kids clubs.....

Great to hear!

On our cruise there were about 1200 kids (per a CM) and they were always waiting in line to meet characters. On a trip with so few kids are the adults taking over the character meets? Or did they just not have them as often?

I remember last year on our cruise I waited 1 45min for Princesses, this year 15 minutes. There was a lot of characters all over and with so little kids, you moslty saw grown ups LOL.

Just got home from our wonderful Hawaiian cruise. Here is the group photo we had taken.

While your experience will certainly be different from ours, if there are any questions about our trip, I would be happy to give you my take on things.

I also made or collected from others, a lot of graphics which I used for magnets and posters. If anyone would like to use any of them, feel free. Also, if you would like me to edit them, change the wording to your trip info, or change to a different character, send me a PM and I'll try.

Here is the link http://www.flickr.com/photos/rmvandy/ Look in the disboard shirts files for most of them (feel free to look at any you want)

we are joining the ship as well, flying in from Holland. Marcel, Saskia, Meike (4) and Laura (3), GTY, early dinner.

Can't wait!

Thank you so much and so glad you had a great time.

Hello!
Have been a lurker on the boards for a long time, but this is my first time posting! We are very excited to be on the Hawaii cruise :beach and would like to be part of the fish extender. It is Walter and Karen in room 7022. We are late dining and don't do facebook (think we are about the only people on the planet that don't):rotfl:

For both of the new ones.
If you want linked dining let me know I can set you on the list that I made on the Facebookgroup. I need your name + how many (+age?) and early or late.

Has anyone else noticed that the excision times were a lot longer for the April cruise than ours will be?

Kahului - 15.5 hours vs. 11.5
Nawiliwili - even steven!
Honolulu - 15.5 hours vs. 8.5
Hilo - 13.5 hours vs. 9
Ensenada - 8.5 hours vs. 5

A total of 19 hours to be exact, with the biggest loss at Honolulu. Anyone else concerned at all? Might this change? Just not sure theres much time to see what can be seen? Worried that after four days at sea we'll want to spend as much time on land as possible, before the next four days at sea. Thoughts?

Don't forget that daylight ends a lot earlier in Late Oct vs Late April. Usually get dark around 6-7pm in Oct while it is still light after 8pm in Apr. That might explain some off the times.

I never considered that, but it does make sense.. still hope the do extend some of the hours for us. I think I keep waiting for that to change.. maybe it wont!

Just a thought on this. I think you might lose time on the last Stop and Ensenada because you are losing one sea day. Other then that It should be the same I would think. Our times changed a bit also.

If anyone is looking for shuttle service we used Rapid shuttle and they were great and very cheap I think.

Private van service from airport to port, port to DL and then DL to airport was $184 total If i remember correctly.

When we left the ship they were waiting for us and we were at DL by 9:30am. Talking to people who used DCL they waited and waited for all the luggage to get loaded and unloaded and didn't get there until 1pm.

Any questions just send a PM.

Have fun on your trip, we had a blast and would do it again in a second!:dance3:
