Sailing the Ocean Blue...October 6, 2012 Eastern Fantasy

Quick update on the 12 year old. She had surgery yesterday (not Monday as planned as they wanted to "try" a cast). After 3 hours under the knife she now has a reconstructed knee and they had to bolt one of her bones together. She was supposed to be in the hospital for two nights but she has such a high pain threshold and is doing so well she may actually go home later today! The best part, no cast! She has a brace which she will need to use for some time and we will need to get a wheel chair for her during the trip but we can manage all that!

Thanks to all of you who provided the tips!

PS - One little shout out for the health care providers. They are AWESOME with kids and took care of this very quickly.

I found a thread about the Mixology classes on the ship. A Dis group did ask and Disney did do a private class for the dis group. Sounds like fun!! Think we could get a group together??

I've done Mixology twice, once on the Dream and again on the Fantasy. On the Dream, it was about 10 people in the group, and we were broken up into pairs (well, I think it was 3 groups of 2 and 1 of 4, so no one was mixing with someone they didn't know). The drinks made were a Gin Martini, Margarita on the rocks, a Mojito, a Sunken Treasure & a B-52 (layered shot). The bartenders provided intsruction on how to do it, but the pairs made the drinks for the others involved.

We also did this on the Fantasy back in June. We had a very active DISboards and Facebook group for this cruise, and someone called to see if we could have a private session. DCL was very nice and granted us this request. They set the limit to 50 participants, and it was now 5 groups of 10 people mixing drinks. The list was slightly different. They had us make a Champagne cocktail, a Caparihna (sp?) which is similar to a Mojito, a Paris 75, a Sunken Treasure (rum, amaretto, OJ & cranberry), and the B-52.

Both times DW & I had a blast, and we hope to be able to sneak in a session on our upcoming 3-Night in Sept and on PCC 4.0 in Dec. I think the large-group version was better, not only because of the drinks, but being so active here and on fbook prior to cruising, it seemed like we were just a big group of friends rather than one couple and 8 strangers (2 of whom we chatted with for the duration of the cruise).

I was in the middle of working on our FE lists last night during my break at work [/i] ...

  • ... when I get a call from my DW @ home reporting there is an intruder in our "front yard." She had gone outside with our little boy :dog2: on our wrap-around deck on the front of the house when he ran suddenly to the top of the stairs and began barking (DW says he actually bounced off the plastic fencing we had put across the top of the stairs to prevent him from running into the frontyard and the treeline around our property ... he may be small but he is :darth: to those that are evil ... ) This was at 10 at night so it is pitch dark outside other than security flood lights on a few properties as we live in on an acreage in a subdivision in the countryside and our front section of the property is fully enclosed in a 6' high fence ... so someone has to scale over the chain link to get into the front. Long story short, she was challenging the intruder who was skulking through the flowerbeds to the west of the house while having my brother on the phone (he's a Sergeant with the city 5-0) ... then she called 911 while I was rushing home from the city. By the time I got there the RCMP was at our back gate ... we went in and did a perimeter sweep inside the front yard and then out on the roadway around our property. He was gone by then ... it was more unnerving than scary as DW and I are both are in the LE field.

I am so sorry your DW and little boy (dog) had to experience something so frightening. I am glad that nothing happened to them. Even though you will never forget that night.

Beth..

You should go to Palo when you board the ship! At 1:00. Most likely would be able to book another reservation for when you would like! Worth a shot! anyhow...Last September we only could get a reservation for 2 when we needed 3 and my son went to Palo and was able to get the reservation for 3...
just a thought for you! Palo is awesome you will really enjoy it! I sure did

I am also at a bit of a loss in that regards to "packaging" ... what I will likely do is place them all in a zip-loc bag for each room as we literally are coming up on 200 items at last count (due to the B2B cruises and we have to itemize everything for Customs as we are shipping most of it down to the States b4 the cruise) ... I know there is at least two staterooms where we are doing a full FE with in Group 2 but can't remember off-hand who they are - if you could let me know that would be great. I will likely have extra's left over when I get the rest of our FE itmes in the mail so will we will gift those to the rest in Group 2 ...

Anyways, I was in the middle of working on our FE lists last night during my break at work ...

Just what I needed :crazy2: during this crazy time ... working on two FE lists while waiting for the final items to arrive, scrambling to get a new FE for our stateroom (thanks to Gradysmom on Etsy!) as the one we ordered over a month ago from another had to be cancelled due illness/family emerg, getting ready for a get-away next week (yes, someone will be staying out at our house while we are gone), finalizing details for our Disney Adventure, craziness @ work with training new staff and then going for a 3 day training period for a whole new IT system for our department :headache: just before heading off on our Disney Adventure and then an additional two days of training after we get back  ... and so forth ... boy do we need to go on a :boat: :)

I'm sorry to hear that. What a scary night:scared1: Glad everyone is ok:thumbsup2

Got some interest on the Facebook page, but I think we need at least 15 or 20 people before we ask for a private session. Anyone interested??

I have y'all down, but for simplicities sake, my list will have the total for the requesting person. (Gonecruisin - 5, and DisneyAlli - 5) Then when it comes time to buy tickets, you can coordinate your group. :thumbsup2 Right now, we have 16 people.

Georgia3 will have 2 - getting closer :cool1:
