Sleepy Hollow

I liked it. I will continue to watch. It is perfect for the fall/Halloween time. I hope it makes it. I tend to get involved with shows that abruptly end when they start getting interesting like Terra Nova, Chase, and No Ordinary Family. :rotfl2:

My 10 year old and I watched it and he did ok. He liked it and wanted to know more about the original story.

I actually didn't think anything about the gun. I guess I thought the horseman adapted to current times.

Im a big OUAT fan so it'll be interesting to see where this story goes!

Almost too trite to say, but it would depend upon the child. There are a couple of chilling moments, especially just before the end in a jail cell, where if a child is prone to bad dreams, I'd say "no." Further, there is a pervasive aura of impending doom and violence in nearly every scene which some might find entirely not appropriate for kids of any age. Best bet would be to tape an episode or two then decide. If I recall correctly, "Sleepy Hollow" will have encore showings on Wednesday nights if you missed it the first time around on Monday.

We also watched with our 10 year old and all three of us enjoyed it.

I did feel like Crane adapted way too easily and the guns just took away from the overall menace, even though I know guns are dangerous. There's just something about the headless horseman and the axe that's much scarier.

ETA: I really, really, really hope this doesn't turn into a looooong drawn out romantic tension between them. I'll be so disappointed. I'd be happy if there was no romance between them. It's just too predictable.

Did anyone watch last night?

Some thoughts I had as I watched (SPOILERS AHEAD)-
*SO glad John Cho is back! As well as Corbin!
*John Cho does creepy GOOD
*I was very nervous when it looked like a child was in danger.
*Is no one going to get Ichabod some new clothes?
*Loved seeing Ichabod learn how to use some of the modern technology. Also the donut hole thing made me laugh. Both when he tried it (I don't *want* a donut hole-mmm this is good.) and his outrage over the tax.
*How can they be sure the witch is dead?
*Did no one notice Andy missing from the morgue or a police car missing?
*I love that Ichabod still loves his wife and I want him to keep loving her although I suspect eventually it will be revealed that she was not on the side of good.

There was more but this is what I'm thinking of off the top of my head.

There are a few plot holes but over all, I'm loving the creep factor of this show. Very spooky without going over the top.

I agree, John Cho was CREEPY! But he does it well! Although I still remember him from American Pie so I half expect him to start chanting "M-word" LOL.

I thought it was interesting how when Crane was in the motel room Abbygail had put all the post it's on everything to show him how to work modern technology, and when he shot the gun once and thought it was done.

The donut thing was pretty funny!

I was worried about the kid too! I think that was a good suspense moment.

I would have like more of the horseman, but understand he wasn't part of last nights story.

I didn't watch it, but DH saw the replay of the first episode while DD16 and I were at the football game on Friday night, and he said it was okay. He didn't like it enough to watch the 2nd episode last night, though.

I think this is one of my favorite new shows. Ichibad's character is great and funny half the time. Loved the donuts! Last nights episode was creepy! I really am enjoying the show so far though.

SPOILERS BELOW!!

My thoughts from an earlier post still stand. I don't think this will be a must-watch show for me. While I like the actor playing Crane (Mison is last name, I believe) and the chemistry between Crane and the sheriff's deputy, the story is too scatter-shot for me to develop an affinity for it. In any show, one must assume a certain suspension of disbelief, but this show is just too over-the-top for my tastes. I find it more annoying than spooky: Why was the ghost's first victim stopped on a deserted road? Why did the ghost need an undead John Cho character? Why does the police captain let the sheriff's deputy keep running around with Crane? Why is an outside police force involved in this mystery, anyway, and if they were, wouldn't they want to personally investigate beheadings? How did Crane recognize a building that had to have been at least 220+ years old? How come the "secret" entrance to the archive room was so huge that anyone using it for a storage area for sensitive files would have noticed the entrance? How, exactly, does one blow up the undead? During said explosion, how come the building (at least 220 years old, remember) has no damage done to it? How come the shadowy figure who appears in mirrors and kills the Cho character needs to use anyone other than himself to institute his sinister plan as he seems quite powerful? I have many more questions just like these.

The writing seems designed to merely spook rather than provide an informed, weaving narrative to thrill the viewers. While my DW will likely continue to watch it, this second episode will be the last I follow closely. To those who continue to watch it, however, enjoy! :thumbsup2

Edited to add that I checked and it was filmed in North Carolina.....I didn't think the aerial shots of the town looked familiar.

MJ

They are filming again today (9/24/13). I heard that traffic in that area would be crazy.

I really wanted to like this show, but I'm just not feeling it so far. The only thing I find entertaining is the little moments of Crane's culture shock. Other than that, I'm not sure I want to sit through a third episode.

A little romantic tension I can handle. Starting a romance between them? I am out of there. That is when it jumps the shark for me.

I was so mad when "BONES" did it. Gak. Ruined it for me.

Why was the ghost's first victim stopped on a deserted road? ...

I know this one. The witch needed to kill that specific guy because he was the ancestor of the guys who burned her at the stake. As she was dying she cursed them and said she was coming back for their ancestors. When Cho searched him out he just happened to be driving down a creepy deserted road.

I stopped watching Bones for the same reason. They can't make a romance. Ichibod loves Cassandra and she's not dead. Just trapped somewhere. I think he's going to have to figure out how to free her.

Watched about 20 minutes tonight, and I'm done. This is a watered down True Blood sort of thing, too many other things to watch.:)
