How Do You Feel About Your Keurig?

Do you like it? Love it? Wish you'd never bought it?

I've been thinking about buying a Keurig, for quite awhile now actually.

I've been hesitant to buy one because I thought maybe they were "just a fad" and they would stop making them, and stop making the K-cups to go with them.

But, I think they are very popular so...I'm thinking more seriously about buying one.

But, which model?

So, please tell me about yours. And edited to add: please tell me which model you have and WHY you like/love/hate it, thanks. :)

I love my Keurig. I use the K-cups that I fill with coffee myself. It's easy to use and I enjoy the coffee it makes.

I think this is the one we have. http://www.keurig.com/brewers/elite-brewing-system

DH drinks a cup of coffee every morning, and occasionally a cup at night. I hardly ever drink coffee. For us -- with only one coffee drinker -- it works out really well and I think it seems economical. Previously, DH would either brew a 6-cup pot of coffee and throw most of it away (he said it tasted funny if he tried to brew less than that in our pot), or he'd buy a cup on his way to work (which can add up in cost). He likes one of the K-cups that they sell at Costco, so it works out to about 37¢ per cup. And, the Keurig isn't nearly as messy as the old pot was.

If there are multiple coffee drinkers in your house, you might want to look at a model that has a larger water reservoir than the one I posted (but it works fine for us).

We bought ours 5 years ago and I still love it!

I drink decaf or tea, hubby drinks flavored or regular. Not a problem, no wasted time or pouring half pots down the drain. I love all the extra stuff that's in K cups; hot chocolate, teas, apple cider, iced teas. Sure I could just boil some water in the microwave and buy mix, but it's just so easy this way.

Ours is still going strong, no problems at all.

Ours is older, but it looks like it's most similar to the current Elite model.

This is the model that we have. What is said here pretty much sums up my situation, except I use the empty K-cups and use my own coffee in them. We have had our Keurig for 2-3 years and it has worked very well.

Keurig Platinum, love the sizes of the cups that I can make, small to large.

I use only distilled water in the machine as I live in a hard water area and absolutely could NOT use my tap water. It is full of lime and would ruin the machine.

Coffee is not "cheap", however we bought it with the intention of cutting back to 1 cup a day and that has proven to be a good thing in this house.

I like a bold cup of coffee, so I buy Starbucks medium (house, pike, and something else), Newman's Own, Donut Shop is pretty good, as well as Dunkin Donuts brand. I have yet to go online and try out the rest of what is available.

SAM's sells a disposable filter (online only and have not tried it yet) if you want an easy way to make your own grind. They also have a reusable KCUP if you prefer that however it is a bit of a pain to pop in and out and clean.

Sam's and Costco sells big boxes of some coffee's for about 40 bucks for 80 KCups.

We have Keurig K45 Elite Brewing system. We bought it last May at a silent auction as part of a fundraiser at our elementary school. We LOVE it! The K-Cups are kind of pricey, but we bought the filter that you can fill with regular grounds from any type of coffe and re-use (it was about $15 and well worth it.) I absolutely recommend the Keurig!

I have the same model as the posted one, mine is probably about 4 years old. I really like it because dh and I do not have the same tastes when it comes to coffee. We each make what we like and it's all good.

They are expensive to buy. We got our at Sam's Club and it was a pretty good deal. The k-cups are expensive too. We try and stock up when we find a sale. However, it's cheaper than when dh would brew a pot and throw most of it out and I would stop and buy coffee to get what I like.

The only reason I want mine to break is so that I can get a newer, fancier one with more options! :thumbsup2

Bah Humbug.

It's alright, I s'pose. It's convenient. Decent enough. Not wowed, and I think the price is outrageous.

I understand why people love them, but in our case.... eh....

I've had the Platinum model for 4-5 years now, and I  it so much. For me, it's perfect -- I only drink coffee at home on the weekends. It would get pretty pricey if I were drinking it every day, although using one of the refillable sort of thingys would help that.

I also love that it'll brew 5 different cup sizes. I can near-instantly have everything from a dainty cup of coffee, to an iced coffee, to a mug of hot chocolate, to a travel mug of coffee, and everything in between.

I love that I can have a bunch of different flavors/varieties of K-cups on hand, and brew a yummy cup of whatever I feel like at that moment. My teenage son loves that I can make him a flavored iced coffee that rivals any store-made kind in under 2 minutes.

And honestly, the thing makes me feel all futuristic. :goodvibes I love the blue glow --looks so cool in the kitchen at night -- and being able to push a button and have one perfect cup of coffee at my fingertips makes me feel like I'm a Jetson. :thumbsup2

My Keurig is my favorite appliance. :cloud9:

I love the convenience but I'm one of those who has had nothing but constant problems with the machines --- and yes I only use bottled water. Keurig has replaced the machine twice for me because water quit coming out and now it just quit working a third time. This time it won't turn on at all, completely dead. I've pretty well given up on it.

I always thought the coffee was just kind of okay. We found a few brands and flavors that we liked well enough. I'm not exactly a coffee snob, just hot and acceptable works for me.

I don't know if we'll ever replace it. Right now I'm just back to using the old Mr. Coffee.

Last month we spent 5 days at my brother's house. He has a Keurig because he's the only one in his family who drinks coffee. He gets his K-cups on eBay and says each cup costs .30¢. He keeps all his boxes of k-cups under a little table because he has no cabinet space in his tiny little kitchen. Hunching down to peer under the table is not very convenient. But it sure brings back a funny visual.

To get a full large size mug we used 2 K-cups. That was kind of a hassle when making coffee for 3 people at the same time. The coffee was good but so is the coffee we make at home in our brewer.

Before our visit, we were thinking about getting a Keurig. Now that we've had a chance to test drive one, we're going to stick with our old coffee pot.

I can't comment on the brand of Keurig my brother has. He said he bought it off eBay for a good price.

I could have written this myself.

I've had mine for 3+ years, and still love it. I have the mid-sized one, and if this one breaks, I'm going for the largest. I'm so tempted to buy a $79 mini to take on vacation with us. I'm also tempted to buy one for my mom (who lives a mile away - we are there a lot) because it would be so nice for me when I visit!

I don't find it expensive - before it came out, I always bought expensive stainless steel carafe coffee makers. My Keurig tops them all. I just picked up some more kcups at costco. I also buy them at bed bath and beyond with a coupon.

I couldn't live without it (okay, and exaggeration, but not by much). I also save money because I have a starbucks 5 blocks away, and I find I'm there much less.

Oh, and it did break down a couple of years ago. I called them up, and they sent a replacement.

Check out the Tassimo, I LOVE mine much better than the Keurig. We have a Keurig at work and it seems so cheaply made compared to the Tassimo which is a Bosch machine. No, there aren't a million different flavors of coffee like the Keurig has, but most people stick with one or two favorites anyway. Plus, we love being able to make cappuccinos & lattes with it.

I have the platinum and like it for the larger reservoir size and different cup sizes. I like it a lot more than what I thought I would. I love being able to make myself a cup of flavored coffee rather than whole pot that then gets tossed.

I agree that if you drink a lot of coffee it's probably better to use the old coffee pot. But we aren't coffee drinkers. I bought mine so when my dad comes over he can have a cup of coffee without the hassle of making a whole pot. I bought the least expensive model that you have to add the water for each cup. But since it's only one or two cups a week, it works for us.
