Mail Order Food Gift Ideas

I would be grateful for some new mail order food gift ideas. This is for family members who live in another state.

In the past, I have sent Omaha Steaks, Harry and David, Sees Candy, Virginia Diner, and New Braunfels Smokehouse but looking for something new and different.

Has anyone had good experience with local/independent fruit growers?

Wouldn't be fresh obviously but check out Cherry Republic.

http://www.sugarbushfarm.com/ or http://www.dakinfarm.com/
both are Vermont companies that sell cheese, maple syrup and other products made in Vermont.

Also http://www.vermontcountrystore.com/ has a lot of 'old timey' nostaglic candies and food products that might be fun for people to get

Juniors cheesecakes, Dean & DeLuca, Zabars - all local NY places that have great items:)

I'm a big fan of Cheryl's cookies. They have a wide variety of treats and cute packaging. Plus, you can always find great coupons and free shipping.

We've sent oranges/citrus fruit from Hale Groves. They are located near Disney's Vero Beach Resort in Vero Beach, FL. My step dad would always say "Oh you just went to Florida. Where are my fresh Florida oranges?" So we sent him some. He said they were really good. And of course he doesn't tease me about it anymore. But maybe I should send him some more this year.

We did Harry & Davids Fruit of the Month club for DH's parents one year. They have different options as far as how many months etc, and they gave us choices of 2 or 3 different fruits and we got to pick what we wanted for each month.

They really enjoyed it!

Wolferman's English Muffins are good and so is Dale and Thomas Popcorn.

Stonewall Kitchen out of York, Maine has yummy stuff as does King Arthur's Flour in Vt. However I don't recall seeing any fresh fruit.

Enstrom's almond toffee :cool1:

Fruit is hard. Other then oranges I do not think I have ever received any fruit not already tasting like paste.

QVC sells Mrs. Prindables caramel/candy apples. They even sell Christmas themed (red and green sprinkles) apples!

Last year I ordered the pears from Harry and David. They are usually about $30 plus shipping but last year they had a deal about 2 weeks before Christmas for $24 + free shipping. Plus I used shopdiscover and saved another amount, so by the time I was done, I paid $18 per box. wow I feel like a cheapskate now.

Great Thread! Would love to see people list any deals they find such as the poster above as the season gets closer!

Thank you! I may have to do the hot dogs for DH - he LOVES Portillo's Chicago dogs (although it may sting a little bit to pay $60 for 10 hot dogs). I just hope they are good - I did Lou Malnatis one year and the pizza just wasn't the same after being frozen.

My husband got me Cheese of the Month Club for Christmas last year from gourmet.com

It was very expensive, but oh the cheeses!!

That man knows the way to my heart. :love2:

There's Oscar's Smokehouse in Warrensburg, NY. I get their ham for my father quite often. He loves it as well as their smoked cheeses - especially the mozzarella.
