Food and Wine? Sounds Divine! An October TR - 12/2 A PTR Link!

:rotfl: I know! I even told DH that it took you no time and he would be willing to fly you out here to do it for us :lmao: I swear, this car seat is soooo hard without LATCH. LATCH just makes your life easier.
For a chance to go to Disney World I'd take the seat out and put it back in as many times as you want me to . :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

It is especially easy in a Tahoe. :rolleyes1

Phew, that's an exhausting travel day!
Shame about the footpath from SSR being closed, we loved that walk when we stayed at SSR
Love the look of the one bedroom villa - so much space :)
Hope you and Calvin are both feeling better now x

I thought all my plans were ruined when DH said it was closed. I was not happy!

No just the regular vitamins. She used to take the liquid ones but I asked her doctor for chewables because she hated the liquid. We don't pay anything not even a co-pay so I guess our insurance covers it all. I just can't believe how much can be charged for prescriptions. It is crazy.

That's great that your insurance covers it. I'm so grateful that our insurance covers the majority of our prescriptions too. We only pay $15 a month for DH's prescription, but without insurance, it would be around $400 a month :scared1:

For a chance to go to Disney World I'd take the seat out and put it back in as many times as you want me to . :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

:rotfl2::rotfl: You know what, it wasn't too bad putting in the Tahoe, now that i'm thinking back on it. Probably because there was more room to maneuver around it. In our little Volvo, it's so hard!

When I last left us, we had found a parking spot at DTD and ready for some food!

DM really enjoyed eating at Wolfgang Puck Express on our last trip, so that’s where we headed. There was hardly a line! I’ve seen pictures of people lining up to the Christmas store before and there was only a few people in line inside the restaurant. We caught a break!

Plenty of tables, I chose our seat in the back and in the corner, just in case DS was going to act up after our long travel day. He seemed pretty happy though!

DM and I both ordered the Pepperoni and Mushroom pizza. She had this last time and loved it. It was delicious and exactly what I needed! Couldn’t decide which picture looked yummier, so you can decide :thumbsup2

DH got the Rotisserie Turkey Club (which I didn’t get a picture of) and he shared some of it with DS who loved it.

During dinner, I was texting Alison and let her know about the walkway being closed. I asked again about driving our vehicle there but she assured me that there was no way were going to be let in. So I had to think for a second about what we were going to do because we weren’t taking DM or DS with us, so we needed to get back to SSR, drop them off, and figure out a way to get over to the Beach Club. In the meantime, DM really wanted to check out the Christmas store and DH wanted to buy me something for my Disney village. He bought me this. I think it will make a great addition!

We got this book for DS for Christmas

DM got this ornament for DS

And this one, obviously, for me because DM deemed any and all of the Nightmare Before Christmas items too creepy for DS

At this point, DH and I really needed to start our journey over to BCV. Back to the car we went and oh my goodness, to get out of the parking lot is a journey in itself! We couldn’t go back out the way we came as it was closed off, so the only exit was exiting out by Cirque Du Soleil tent, which was on the other side from where we were. Getting back to SSR was easier than leaving. DH parked the car and went inside to get DS all settled for the night so DM wouldn’t have to do much while we were gone. I also made a call to the front desk about bus transportation. Yes, the buses do go from SSR to DTD until 2am. I didn’t think we’d be partying till that late, but it was nice to know. There was a bus stop steps from our room which was perfect. Like I said before, the location of our room was superb.

We weren’t waiting too long before a bus came to pick us up, only to drop us off about a block away :lmao: Then came the waiting game. We saw that there was no line for BC/YC/BW, which meant a bus had already come in our minds. And that was definitely the case. We waited for 20 minutes. :headache: Finally a bus came and we were on our way…to Boardwalk…then to the Swan…then Dolphin. Holy Calrissian. I completely forgot that the bus services all these resorts. Alison texted me when we were at the Dolphin, I believe. And after what seemed like eons, I texted her that we were there! She told me to walk toward the lobby and look out for her across the driveway. I saw her pretty immediately and it was great to see her! I apologized about our tardiness and told her that it took ages to get to her! IN the end it was worth it though. She led us over to such a nice, peaceful area of the BCV, near the quiet pool. And there was quite a bit of people! I recognized Princess In OZ (PIO) immediately from franandaj’s (Alison) TR’s and I got to meet her lovely DH and DS. I also got to meet a few other DIS’ers like, Luvchefmic and TiffanyD. There were a couple other DIS’ers there as well but I’m drawing a blank. They had such a lovely table set up with roses and all KINDS of food and drinks. Alison had packed 2 Tri-tips in her suitcase that made the cross-country trip! I wasn’t too hungry, but my DH dug right in! One thing about my DH – he will never reject food if it’s offered. :rotfl: The weather couldn’t have been more perfect outside. Gorgeous night, amazing company and wonderful conversations. We got some different opinions about the F&W kiosks and Alison told me that I NEEDED to get the Warm Chocolate Pudding with Baileys Custard over at Ireland. I made a mental note of that. We all sat and talked for about 30-40 minutes and it was getting late, so we started picking up things and bringing them back inside to Alison’s villa. But not before luvchefmic had DH and me sign her banner. I wish I had gotten a picture of that. In fact, I wish I had gotten a picture period while we were there. :sad2: We said our goodbyes to everyone and promised to keep in touch on the DIS and we walked back to the bus stop. I was dreading the bus ride back to DTD, not knowing how long it would take but luck was on our side. A bus came immediately and once we sat down, I exclaimed, “Oh no! I didn’t get a picture!” DH suggested we go back, but I didn’t want to do that. Everyone was probably gone at that point. I’m hoping our paths will all cross again someday :goodvibes.

On our way back to DTD, DH and I were having a ‘tiff’ about tomorrow. Tomorrow was Animal Kingdom day. But not only that, tomorrow was Sunday. And what happens on Sundays from September through January? Anyone? Yep. Football. He’s a die hard Green Bay Packer fan and needs to catch every game. I asked him if he couldn’t just get updates from his phone but of course updates are different than watching the game live  I knew the game was important to him and I didn’t want him to miss it. I remembered that Animal Kingdom Park has a Rainforest Café at the front and suggested he go and see if they were showing the game in the morning. He agreed. And if not, he would have to go to ESPN Zone at the Boardwalk if that wasn’t the case. I dreaded that knowing the busses schedule and how long it would take him.

By the time our convo was over, we were back at DTD. What to do? Wait for a bus or attempt to walk? I didn’t even have to think about it. We were walking. You could see there was a walkway alongside the front of DTD going towards SSR but once we got there, there was a sign saying the sidewalk was closed to SSR. Screw-it. Other people were doing it and so were we. The sidewalk did end at one point and we were walking on grass and then walking in between the security arms at the check-point, but no one was there to tell us we couldn’t enter so we walked on through. We made it there in probably 6 minutes. Technically, what we (and everyone else) did was illegal, but seriously, I was not going to wait 10 minutes for a bus knowing I could stick my head out into the street and see SSR from there. Let me just say, getting back to SSR was way easier than leaving!

When we got back into the room, DS was hysterically crying in our bedroom in his Pack-n-Play. DM said he just wouldn’t stop crying and that she changed him, fed him a bottle, etc and nothing would console him. I picked him as he continued to cry for another 30 minutes. I had no idea what was wrong with him. Every time I put him down he would cry harder. I had padded it pretty well with blankets so I didn’t know what was wrong. Eventually after we left him alone, he went to sleep. We took showers, went to bed and he woke up at least 3 times during the night. I was so tired I picked him up and put him in our bed and he immediately went right to sleep. I realized, finally, he was cold! Duh, fool. :upsidedow I looked at the clock and it was 3am. My alarm was set to go off at 6am because we needed to pack up our things, check-in to AKV, check our bags with bell services and head over to AK. We had FastPass+ Reservations starting at 9:10am – 10:10am for Expedition Everest. Would we make it?!

I am all caught up! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Oh my goodness, you've had a bit of drama just in the first couple of days between medication, closed paths, driving, yikes! And poor DS having a rough night to boot. Still the good seems to outweigh it all. Nice hotel in LA, easy check in, DS having great flights, DM being ok sitting by herself, room where you wanted it, easy medication find and pickup, lovely meal at DTD and a fabulous DISmeet! I am hoping Allison has pictures, I'd love to see it all and can just picture her famous tritip! I'm behind over there too :lmao:

One thing I can't figure out...how did 3 adults fit in that car after you got it all in? I can see DS's car seat, and 2 in the front...where (and how) did the 3rd adult get in?

Thank goodness you got a larger one in FL! I hope the new medication did the trick and that you were able to figure out football. UGH to that I say...I have a similar situation looming with my BIL for our Dec/Jan trip but...he'll figure it out. LOL

Sounds like a fun but busy afternoon!

My parents were in WDW a few weeks ago and said the parking around DTD is crazy at the moment while the Disney Springs project is going on! :confused3

Love all your Christmas purchases - I have to buy something every trip from WDW for our Christmas tree! :goodvibes

Wow, I am getting exhausted just reading about your day!
I hope AK goes well for you and I hope you get to have some relaxation on this trip :)

Whew! You must have been tired after all that. It's too bad you didn't get a picture at the DIS meet. You'll have to all do it again next year! I can't wait to find out how your morning went, if you made it to AK in time, and how FP+ worked for you!

Oh my goodness, I'm stressed just imagining your bus rides and DTD traveling :rotfl:

I'm going to have to sit in at WPE one of these days, we've only ever done take out. The 4 cheese pizza is SO GOOD!!!

Poor DS :( I'm glad you figured it out. It's so hard when they can't talk and just tell you what's wrong.

The Dis meet sounds wonderful, glad you made it!

What adorable photos of Calvin at WPE! The boy looks ready to eat! :)

I do believe this is the first time that I have heard of a Dismeet that involved tri-tip that has traveled so far! That's completely awesome! Sounds like Alison was a great hostess for the Dismeet!

As the wife of one die-hard Packer fan to another, I hear ya! I wonder how the Sunday game viewing worked out....

I fully support the 6 minute trek to SSR through the closed sidewalk versus an extended wait for a bus - makes complete sense to me. :upsidedow

The good news despite getting so little sleep is that you have until 10:09 to get to EE.

I hope Calvin has averted further flare ups of the bumps/hives. :scared:

Hi Cynthia great to see you :goodvibes

You're telling me! I was pretty much over that day, up until the DIS meet. That saved it:worship:

:lmao: My DM was able to squeeze into the other seat directly behind the passenger front seat. It was definitely tight, but surprisingly not as tight as our December trip if you can believe that:eek:

It seems that many women on the boards have to deal with this whole football fiasco. I could try and plan trips around this, however, if it's not one sport it's another

Cute pics! :)

Thank you!

Yes! And honestly, I had heard about Disney Springs before our trip, but didn't think in any way it would affect our trip :rolleyes1

Can I just say, i'm shocked that you didn't go with them to WDW!

Wow, I am getting exhausted just reading about your day!
I hope AK goes well for you and I hope you get to have some relaxation on this trip :)

AK will be coming up!

I was so bummed about it. I can't believe I didn't even think about it at the meet. Probably because we were all so wrapped up in talking.

Oh my goodness, I'm stressed just imagining your bus rides and DTD traveling :rotfl:

I"ve heard that the 4 cheese pizza is delicious! I should check that out sometime. On our last trip, I got the Margherita pizza and it was good, but I remember DM's pepperoni and knew I needed to get that.

What adorable photos of Calvin at WPE! The boy looks ready to eat! :)

This is not the first time that frozen meat has traveled with her :thumbsup2:lmao: When she cooks, she means business

Well hello fellow Cheese Head! :hyper: Its difficult to find GB fans here in CA, especially since we have 3 Pro teams.

Yeeahhh...about EE...:rolleyes1

I was really bummed we didn't get a picture of that particular DisMeet either. Can't believe that we ALL forgot! :headache:

Dinner at WPE looks great....but there really was more than enough food at the DisMeet to feed all of you. Maybe next time.

I kinda knew that you had a bit of trouble getting to the BCV. But there's nothing like reading about it to solidify the facts. Thanks for making the effort!

Wow! What a day! I was tired just reading about it.

Love that you had dinner at WPE.
I know, getting out of the DTD parking lot can be a pain. But at least you were still close to SSR.

You were brave, taking the bus to BCV. Tom and I don't use the buses and drive everywhere. :lmao:

Sorry Calvin had a bad night but good to hear that you ALL had a good night once he was warm again. :goodvibes

Okay, cannot wait to hear more! popcorn::

Great updates :thumbsup2 The kitchenette in your room was so cute, I love it. I'm enjoying reading about your experience with the rental car since that's something I'm pondering doing. I've been "spoiled" by how close everything is in DLR and I'm thinking it might be nicer to use a car vs. the bus system.

...

Can I just say, i'm shocked that you didn't go with them to WDW!

....

Hehe.. it was my sister's "turn" to go to WDW with them - plus she got to take her DBF, it was his first ever time to Disney! :goodvibes

Btw.. about NFL... it will be the play-offs when we're there in January.. so if the Saints are playing, I've already realised I'm going to have to schedule in ESPN for DH time during marathon weekend :rotfl:

Did you guys take any pictures of yourselves at all earlier in the evening? Would be great if Ruthie could take a picture of her banner!

Wow! What a day! I was tired just reading about it.

Hi Karin!

I'm so used to the Disney buses, i've never taken anything else before. Now that i've gotten to experience a rental car, it totally spoils you!

Great updates :thumbsup2 The kitchenette in your room was so cute, I love it. I'm enjoying reading about your experience with the rental car since that's something I'm pondering doing. Tania you don't have a ticker so when are your dates?! :cool1:

You don't realize how nice it is to walk across the esplanade at DL until you're at WDW on a 20 minute journey to a park!

Hehe.. it was my sister's "turn" to go to WDW with them - plus she got to take her DBF, it was his first ever time to Disney! :goodvibes

Oh okay! Did she have a good time? Do you see any more trips for her in the future?

Yes I was actually thinking about your Half in January and your DH's football. The things we do for our men:rotfl2: But in reality, if i'm able to go with him and watch, it's fun!

Good morning everyone! I wanted to post a quick update before taking DS to my SIL's school carnival in a little bit. I'll be back on to catch up on everyones TR's. Have a great day:goodvibes

P.S. Remember, if you want to skip the chatter in between updates, I link the chapters onto the 2nd post. But chatter is fun so join in por favor!

Sunday, October 6, 2013

My alarm went off at 7am. Then my second alarm went off at 7:10am. Third and final alarm at 7:15. I knew no more alarms were coming after that so I got up. Who else sets 3 alarms? I know i'm not the only one. I started the coffee and got dressed. My DH got up pretty immediately after I told him it was time to get ready. Usually it takes him a very long time to get up, especially when we’re at Disneyland. But Disney World gets him excited. I started to get breakfast ready and that woke DM up. It was around 8:20 when we all sat down to eat.

Coffee (Starbucks of course!), orange juice, toast, bacon, eggs and half a lemon poppyseed muffin.

DS didn’t have any of this. I fed him a banana and made some instant oatmeal with a fruit pouch so DM could feed him in the car on the way to check in to AKV.

After breakfast, we started cleaning up and I let DS sit and watch the Disney Channel. I can’t remember who the fellas were on TV.

Oh, see those shoes on the table? Yup, pretty much useless to bring. It was just too hot during our trip to put them on. He may have looked like a hick, but I didn’t care. :rotfl2: I knew he was comfy!

Fixated by the guys on tv

I started the dishwasher, packed everything back up into the suitcases, while I helped DH get all the bags back to the car. We were on the road by 9:10am and DM fed DS while driving to AKV. No directions were needed on my phone!

Hmm, no idea what this says but it has to be important if I took a picture of it right?

Almost there!

Stopping by security to let us pass, an older gentleman took my name, Welcomed us home and we were on our way. I took a look at the parking placard that he gave us, and it wasn’t my name. It said Alice Crow. Okay whatever I’ll just let registration know about it.

I shouted out “Yay!” when this came into view

Because a closer view is always better!

I hopped out of the car quickly and let DH take care of taking out the luggage. I was greeted with “Jambo, Welcome Home” by two ladies with an iPad. They asked for my name and told them and also mentioned the placard. They showed me on the iPad that there was an Alice Crow and an Alicia Crow and pointed out to them that I was Alicia, not Alice. So they brought up that information as we walked to the registration desk. A sweet, eager, young man greeted me (complete opposite of the guy that checked me in at SSR and I totally welcomed his niceness :lmao:). The women showed him the confirmation of my arrival on the iPad and he was able to bring up the information on his computer. Not sure why I couldn’t do this at the desk but whatever. He nervously told me that my room wasn’t ready but that he could send a text to let me know when it was ready. I assured him it was totally fine because we were headed straight to the park anyway. Do I look that scary to make someone nervous?! :stir::crazy: There was an issue printing out our KTTW cards, so it took a while to do that. He told me to keep these on hand in case there was a problem with our Magic Bands. After I was done checking in, I headed over to Concierge to make sure that my UT tickets were successfully linked to our Magic Bands. I also wanted to ask about securing a FP for BoG. Our tickets were already successfully linked which was great! I told the lady about the message I kept receiving about BoG, saying that I was already registered for a FP but it wasn’t letting me get to it. I told her I called Tech Support and they told me to go to Concierge and that they would help me there. She kind of laughed and rolled her eyes and said, “ You have no idea how many times guests come up saying that. Tech support doesn’t know what they’re doing so they send them to our desk, where unfortunately we can’t do anything either.” Ugh well that smells stinkowith (Jar jar binks anyone?:darth:) I even showed her a screen shot of the website and the error that kept popping up. She wrote down the confirmation number that I needed to get a reservation and she told me to keep trying to secure a FP. I really didn’t feel like making a fuss since I wanted to be on our way to AK, so said thanks for helping and saw that the family was waiting for me in the lobby. The whole check-in process and going over to the Concierge desk took 30 minutes. A long time, IMO. Oh well, let’s go to Animal Kingdom! :simba::squirrel::fish:

I forgot to say I liked your Christmas shop purchases :) well, except for the Sally ornament, that scares me! :rotfl:

Boo on the IT guys for sending guests to concierge when they can't help.

I love that first sight of Jambo House! :lovestruc

Do you happen to know how long it took from SSR to AKV? Bus ride is about 25 minutes.

Okay, so I confess ...... we have several alarm clocks too! :rotfl2:

I love that you actually did cook in that kitchen. We usually have a 1 bedroom, but so far we have not really cooked much (used the microwave, boiled some water for tea and that's it).

Yeah for getting to AKV! How crazy that there were two people with such similar names. But at least you got that straightened out. Now we all know that Disney IT lets a lot to be desired, but to send people to concierge who cannot help either is really something. :rotfl:

Have fun today! pixiedust:

YAY Jambo! I'm ready for Zebra....Domes; and animals. Lots of animals.

I wouldn't worry about what anyone thinks about Calvin not having shoes. As you said, he was comfortable. That's all that matters. :goodvibes
