Here is what I know. Balconies aren't important to us. Being close to the pool isn't important to us. Being close to the Epcot walkway and/or the bus stop is! What should we put on our room request info? I'd like to be close to the elevator too if we're not on the first floor.

ETA: We also do not need a daybed. Just the two queen beds! ETA: Our room is at Garden View

Thanks!

Thought I would share our countdown calendar I made today. We still have over 100 days but I am getting excited :goodvibes

I'm so excited to be rejoining this group! We went for our first ever trip to Disney back in April 2012 and stayed at the BC and loved it!! We wanted to go back to Disney this year and started looking at resorts. I tried to talk myself into Port Orleans, but we just kept coming back around to the beach club in our planning because of convenience to Epcot & HS. We are trying to keep it a surprise for our son who will be 8 very soon. We will be there from May 18-23 and I'm so excited!

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:cool1:

It has been awhile :sad1: I have been very busy at work . Dee just want to say wonderful job as always and to all who contribute the wealth of information to this thread , I believe it to be the best resort thread going .
:thumbsup2 I was finally able to get my return flight this morning with Southwest ,they released July bookings I was getting nervous the other airline prices are quite high . All is good now .
I am looking forward to seeing Teena and the other friends I have made over the years at the Yacht and Beach Club resort :grouphug:.

Thanks!

I think this is a pretty swell group, too!

Congrats on booking your flight. I'm sure that is a big relief!

:goodvibes

BUMMER!!!

:(

Does anyone know what time the busses leave from BC to the various parks? I'm somewhat stressed, with the new FP+ system, trying to ride most of what DS has reequested as well as make ADRs.

We are flying and solely dependent on Disney Transportation and would rather not take cabs to make our breakfast ADRs (which will be prior to park opening).

Also, do I need to book the Albatross Treasure Cruise for DS ahead of time or can this be done after arrival?

That's a great question about the buses, but unfortunately, I don't have a definitive answer for you. I know that the buses are supposed to run before park opening to get guests to early morning breakfast reservations, but I haven't personally used the Disney transportation prior to 7:30 am. I do know buses are running at that time.

Which breakfast reservations do you have? You are better off taking the buses (over a taxi) to Magic Kingdom anyway, because a taxi will only take you to the TTC and you will have to take the ferry or monorail, but a bus will bring you to the main gate.

If your reservation is at one of the resorts, you might just be better off taking a cab than getting a bus to a park and then to the resort. That would involve an unknown wait time for the bus to the park, then an unknown wait time from the park to the resort.

I'm not sure about the Albatross Cruise.

Yes I book everything and will do so with the FP+. FP+ will be new to us so if they decide they want something different they can go in and change it in MDE. Everyone has set up accounts, they are just letting me manage it. I am the obsessed one of the group and the only one that plans anything. We all like the same things so we usually tour together, most of the time we do the same parks in the morning and then split up for the afternoon/evenings. We have teased the newbies that I will be the one with the tour guide shirt on and carrying the banner, just follow me!

Yes we are staying at BC not the villas.

Happy planning!

:goodvibes

Is there real coffee in the Y or B club somewhere? How early can i get a cup?

Thanks!

The Marketplace now sells Joffrey's coffee (not Nescrape). I believe it opens at 6:30 for coffee and 7 am for breakfast items. I think that you can still get coffee and continental breakfast (pastry, fruit) at the Ale & Compass lounge in the Yacht Club lobby. Not sure what time that starts.

Anyone know?

:thumbsup2

Given what you are looking for, I think your request should be "Close to lobby/lobby elevator". This location is the most convenient for the bus stops, Marketplace, Stormalong Bay. It might be a little further from the EPCOT walkway, but I don't think you lose time getting to EPCOT by going out the back door of the lobby.

Not sure if I have given you a :welcome: to the thread, so here ya go!

I'm looking for a little advice on Chefs de France. My ADR date is approaching and I'm wondering what is the best time to book our reservation at Chefs de France? I'd like to try and get a window seat and I know that my DS will flip when he sees Remy!:rotfl2:So, I'm thinking earlier rather than later. How far a walk is it from BC? We are staying CL, so I thought that it would be nice to partake in the Hors d'oeurves & Wine at 5pm and then eat at 5:30p. Is that cutting it to close? Is there anyway that I can request for Remy to stop by our table? Ratatouille is one of his favorite movies and he has no idea that Remy travels around the restaurant visiting. LOL! TIA for any and all advice.:flower3:

I would book a 6pm ADR. That way you have time to sip a glass of wine with those apps:thumbsup2

I want you all to know that Ninja Mom is in serious trouble and without those FISH LAMPS she is this close ][ to getting lost in the hallways when she stalks Teena.

I'm thinking that the thought of Ninja Mom roaming the hallways of the Beach Club, ENDLESSLY LOST is enough to spur management to find those lamps and put them back on the first floor hallway nook where they belong!

Rest in Peace Nemo and Marlin.... Rest in Peace....

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Remy stopped appearing at Les Chefs de Frances in October 2013. :(

You are officially a guest until midnight. You will still have your magic bands and therefore have access to all the facilities including the pool. However, who knows if it will be warm enough to swim. You should check your bags in with the airline check-in so you don't have to take them to the airport and then give your carry-ons to Bell Services to hold until your 1 PM DME. It usually only costs about $10 to add another day onto your tickets so I'd probably do that and after breakfast head over to Epcot for an hour or two. If you decide to hit the pool, you can use the health club to shower and change.

I'd definitely do the pool. The locker rooms are very nice so you can shower after the pool and be fresh for the Magical Express!

We have packed a separate bag with our "plane" clothes and stored that at bell services while we are at breakfast. We ransom the plane outfit/swimsuit bags from bell services and transfer the small bags to the lockers in the fitness center (Bell services holds the rest of the luggage tht has not gone on ahead for airline check in, like our carry on's lap tops etc...).

We get changed into swim suits, hit the pool, chug buckets of Sunken Treasures in a fit of departure depression and then head to the locker room to get showered and changed back into street clothes. This leaves us feeling rested and relaxed and ready for the insanity that is air travel!

I believe there is soap and shampoo in the locker rooms but I'm not sure what kind. There were towels and wash cloths too but some one needs to check what has been offered in the locker rooms lately.

Our last trip we went to DTD and did a little shopping, but we took a cab back to the YC to save time. I think swimming would be a pain, but people do that all the time. Taking wet swimsuits on the plane would be the big downside.

You may also be able to get a 1 pm checkout. We were able to do so in December. This way if you are able to swim you can shower off afterwards. You won't want to check your luggage though if you need the liquids packed away before you're shower.

Thank you! Such a helpful bunch, you are. I especially like the drowning the departure depression in buckets of Sunken Treasure. Here's to hoping it's warm enough for swimming in only 16 days from now. No polar vortices in central Florida, I suppose.

OMG!!! No FISH LAMPS and now you are telling me no more Remy!! I suppose they are going to take away paper fast passes next....

I'd be willing to appear at Les Chefs for the right price, say some champagne, a few pomme frites and some stinky cheese. ...

Hi there,

We've just booked the BC for our next WDW trip in April 2014. Can you add us to the list?

Staying CL at BC April 23-April 26 - just 3 night before our Disney Fantasy 7 day Western Caribbean Cruise :)

Travelling with my family (DH and DS (9)) and my elderly parents who are both in their 70s. This is their first trip to Disney and cruise. Can't wait to show them the magic.

We stayed at the BC CL back in October 2012 and loved it so much, we won't stay anywhere else now. We'd previously stayed at the Poly and at one of the family suites at ASM.

It's a long way from Australia, but so worth it!

Cheers
Angela

UGH!!!:sad2: Why'd they do that?:confused3 I read so many fun reviews about him. Board of Health in Fla is really strict!;) Oh well, better to find out now. So,thanks Feckless the heads up. I'm wondering if we should still go there or not? Has anyone been to Monsieur Paul? Both restaurants proximity to the BC make me want to check them out. And we could use the "secret door" that I learned about here on this AWESOME thread:thumbsup2. I hope that it is at least still there! TIA

About the buses. We solely relied on Disney Transportation on our first trip in 2011 and as long as you allow 60-75 minutes for travel time to any of your destinations you'll be fine. We had many early ADR's from the BC in 2011 and we were on a bus by 7am-7-15am. Sometimes we were the only ones, which was neat, but yes buses do run early because of ADR's. We even were standing at the bus stop and had a CM come over asking how long we've waited (most of the time no more than 5-10 minutes) and them walkie talkie to someone about people waiting to be picked up at the BC.

We love Disney transportation. DH and I make a point to take every form during each of our trips.

I'm not too sure they would be able to help you with that since it would likely require them to "leave their post" at club level.

A few years ago we helped a poster who was doing a scavenger hunt for her son. When I get a chance, I'll see if I can find the final product. *** I found some of the suggestions to her, I will add those to my list below.

A few things I would include (and can give you pictures of) are

The elevator that doesn't go quite to the top

The set of pictures that have a ship moving between the 3 pictures.

Three different mermaids

A globe with a Hidden Mickey.

A sandcastle with a Not-so-Hidden Mickey

**********************************************

Take a picture with the BC greeter. Double points if that greeter is Teena!

Find 3 Hidden Mickeys- Here is a list of BC HM from the internet. Some may not still be around, but sounds like it is a good idea to look closely at the pictures that are hanging up around the resort and especially the Solarium.

www.hiddenmickeysguide.com/catalog.php?id=50

Find the price of "The Kitchen Sink" (Beaches and Cream)

Count the number of bouquets of flowers in the lobby.

What are the flavors of gelato for sale at the Marketplace?

Something with the lighthouse.

Name of the Pool Slide

In what direction are you walking when you go from the Beach Club to EPCOT? (East)

What else do you guys suggest??? Does anyone know if the Fish Lamp is back?

If we can come up with a neat scavenger hunt, I'll save it to page 1 :)

.

Thank you so much for your reply. This is so helpful, maybe I'll just ask if there is anything else they can add to my list. Love the Beaches and Cream idea, I think I'll make a ressie there and the winning team can pick our dessert.
You guys truly are awesome at helping planning, THANK YOU!!!! pixiedust:

I am sorry Remy is no longer there for your son to enjoy. We got to see him a few times and it really was fun for the kids. The food at Chefs is good and we had been there before Remy appeared but must admit that was mostly the reason we had returned lately. We've also had lunch there, I enjoyed it as well if you find that menu more appealing.

Other nearby "fun" ideas for your son might include reserving a table at Rose & Crown late enough to request a table outside and then stay there to watch Illuminations. It is a great close up view that our kids enjoy.

Also Teppan Edo is another they've enjoyed. They like watching the chef prepare the meal and some of the kids meals were served in a monorail-style plate. They're older now so not sure they serve them that way anymore.

Rose & Crown is just inside International Gateway, closer than France even, and Teppan Edo is a bit further than Chefs but not a long walk.

I also second the PP who suggested no earlier than 6 pm if you want to enjoy the CL offerings. Sometimes it might not open right at 5 pm, there will be others in line, time to enjoy the food/drinks, make your way down from the 5th floor, walk over to International Gateway, go through bag check and scan bands for entrance, walk to restaurant. Not trying to make it sound like that takes a lot of time, but don't want you to feel rushed and watching the clock when you eat/drink.

Hope you enjoy your stay at BC!
