DFTW 2015 - Anyone planning yet?

We are planning a November or December Wishes 2015 wedding. We'd like to be a bit flexible date-wise because we're dead set on Seabreeze Point.

We'll be having an unofficial site visit when we're in the area in April... just want to eat at Narcoossee's and confirm that it's the right place for our lunch reception, and then check out the different Epcot dessert party options.

So excited! :cool1:

I'm hoping to be a June 2015 Escape Wedding! Trying to convince boyfriend (hadn't officially proposed yet... We have a WDW trip planned for this summer)

My fiancé and I just got engaged last week and are looking to have a 2015 wedding at Disney. I don't even know where to start though. So many friends and family have told us that they would come for a Disney wedding, which is great, but scared for our budget! Any help is appreciated!

Start with Carrie Heyward's Passporters Guide to Disney weddings!! Other more tech savvy people on here will probably link you if you can't find it with a google search! Loads of people have really been able to plan their whole wedding and hash out a budget with that book!

Thanks for this suggestion! we're looking at 2016 so anything could change in 2 years, but that book really helped to answer a lot of questions I had about WDW weddings and what sort of pricing structure I would be looking at. I can use the e-book as a budget reference, and wait till the 2015/16 edition to get a physical copy to pour over too.

So I contacted Cole's Classic Cars as I'd really like to ride down the Boardwalk in an amazing vintage car. Unfortunately one of my top choices isn't available for driving events and he ruled out a couple of the other cars I had looked at for the same reason but I have it narrowed down to two cars for just under $500 plus a 20% auto-grat for the driver... Sounds a lot more reasonable than Disney's prices!

I feel better knowing i'm not the only 2016 Bride already going crazy with planning. :3

I am planning for a May 2015 wedding! I have my heart set on SBP with a reception at the Attic. I am counting down the days until I finally get to the 12 month mark! In the meantime, I've already booked our photographer. I am ready to get into full-on planning mode now! I hate waiting. LOL

Hello all,
I'm writing on this forum to release my stress lol.. I'm planning a Disney wedding precisely for Sat. August 1st 2015 (date is important). We are just at the first stages of discussing of what we want to do and how at Disney.

I'm from Canada (woot woot!) so a destination wedding... I'm stressing because I want to have our wedding this date AND because even though we might be around 30-40 people, my bf and I would like it to be casual and well, inexpensive!
Is this even possible?
People would pay their trip and meals, and we would pay the ceremony and anything xtra for the celebration (photograph, etc).
I'm looking at the venues and all on the disneyweddings.com site and everything seems so big and expensive! I'm at 18k and I have to book a reception?!

I'm reading Lunch receptions on here which seems much more of what we would prefer to keep it low budget but how does this work?
Can we just book a private section at a DW restaurant that would be included in our meal plan?

We were think having the ceremony, a sort of Luncheon, go to the park for the fireworks and parade and then I just read there are dessert parties (ouhhh).. How much can this cost?? :-/

Any info would be helpful! Sorry for the long 1st post. I'm new and... Worried!! Lol

Congrats!

I'm also from Canada and am looking at similar things to you. Because of that cost we are looking at the Swan and dolphin. Have you already contacted Disney with your date?

We are hoping for an October 2015 wedding but haven't specified dates yet. Should I have? Lol

I'm not even engaged yet (but according to SO, it is coming by the end of August 2014), and I'm definitely planning on having Wishes wedding next summer…I'm so ready for the engagement to happen so I can start officially planning :cool1:

You might want to post this out on the main forum as its own post so that more people will see it and offer suggestions. :thumbsup2

The bare minimum you will have to spend for a wedding for that many people is $12,750–$14,000 plus 6.5% tax and 21% service charge. A dessert party will be an extra cost ($2,000 is a good starting number) because it doesn't apply to the minimum expenditures for a wedding. This page on Disney's site explains the cost breakdown.

Hello all!
Thanks for replying!

I'm expecting the wedding to come out to 15k although I find this already expensive. What are u gonna do?!
I purchased the passporter wedding guide which was on sale today.. I started to read it and there are somethings that I don't understand.. Lol

If I have the ceremony at the wedding pavilion (which is my favorite venue as of now) how much will it cost for my party? Cuz I see in the guide that I just need to spend 11k$...and then I see that the rental fee for the venue is 5K$..
So I don't understand...

After for the reception, I'm hesitating because I'm wondering if we can't just have an outside luncheon with a couple of tables.. Or else Ariel's Beach Club venue is sweet and there wouldn't be much decorating to do since the room is so nice!

And then again, a supper at the California Grill in the private room with a view on the fireworks would be so pretty!! But what to do between the ceremony and the reception?!!

I looked at the Swan and seriously I personnaly wasn't impressed :( I'm sad because I was counting on this venue to cut on the price but the ceremony areas don't seem 'classic' enough to my liking :-( ideally I would of had the ceremony at the Wed Pavilion and then a luncheon at the Swan if it would of cut the price but I don't think it's possible with the number of people I have coming :-/

Geeze this is complicated! I wish the Escape package still had the extra person fee instead of the min expenditure..

Is anyone looking for something like me?
And no, i havn't contacted anyone at disney yet except making my wedding profile and I still can't select Aug15 anyways..

Thanks for your support! I'm feeling overwhelmed :-/

The $11,000 listed in the Intro chapter is the absolute minimum cost of a Wishes wedding for someone with only 20 guests, not a universal minimum. You can find your own minimum via this formula (which is shown and explained on page 47):

$4,000 Wedding Pavilion Ceremony Fee
+
(# of guests) x ($125 brunch or $150 lunch or $175 dinner)
+
$5,000 or $8,000 or $10,000 enhancement minimum (dep. on day of the week)
=
Your Total

Disney generally doesn't advise having a gap between the ceremony and the reception. If you wanted a reception during fireworks, they would encourage you to have a late-afternoon ceremony. We had a gap between the reception and the dessert party that worked really well. That way people were fed and had free time to play or nap, with the DP as a bonus at the end of the day.

Thanks for the reply.. Wow, this wedding is not going the way I would of wished.

My ideal would of been a ceremony at the wedding pavilion, a supper at the Napa room at California Grill for the fireworks.

Or ceremony at the wedding pavilion, lunch at ariel's and then everyone kinda goes their way and we meet up later for a dessert party with fireworks :-/

My date being a saturday, I'm guessing I'm going to have to fork out money... I don't understand why people can't just rent the wedding pavilion for a ceremony without spending the extra 10k$? I mean, i'm paying for the rental fee!

:(

Because Disney makes its money on the reception, not the ceremony. But if you cut your guest list down to Escape size, you could just do the WP ceremony.

Why can't you do an afternoon or evening Wishes ceremony at the Wedding Pavilion and then have your reception in the Napa Room during the fireworks? Too pricey?

Yes - having to pay let's say:
$4,000 Wedding Pavilion Ceremony Fee
+
(50) x ($175 dinner) Napa room for the fireworks
+
$10,000 enhancement minimum
=
22,750$

Not including taxes and gratuity, flower arrangements, mickey/minnie appearance, CAKE!...

I don't know, but is it only me or this is starting in getting a little hefty? no?

I was seeing myself forking out about 15K for a wedding (is this unreal?)
I can't see myself downsizing the ceremony as people are coming from Canada and Mexico to come down and see my wedding... so I guess I have to forget a DFTW ceremony to unchain myself from the 10K minimum enhancement?...

So I guess a ceremony SOMEWHERE else?? [HELP! :(] and then maybe have the reception at the Napa Room or can we see the fireworks from the S&W??

I really like pictures at the S&D for this reception...
see susansoutherland flickr pictures #4663582783 & #4663584701
[sorry I can't post links sine I only have 3 posts on this forum...

REAL PRETTY!

Your flower arrangements and Mickey and Minnie go toward the enhancement minimum. Cake is part of the food cost at the reception. Mickey and Minnie can be $1400-$1500, while a cake can easily be $500 or more.

Would it be possible for you to cut your guest list down to 18 for the escape part and then have a private party at napa room or wherever for your reception that opens up to more guests?
