~Snowbird Chat 2~

Wendy!! What a lot you have done since you were here!!! Congrats on the upcoming wedding & Disney trip. You are braver than I am~ would not be able to do the bullfight!!!!
Glad you dropped by to update us!

Hi Wendy!!
Congrats to Maggie and her fiancee on their engagement! I like that she found ways to make her wedding include her love of Disney!
Sounds like a great trip to Spain! I would love to explore more of Europe - Italy is tops on our list (DH is 1/2 Italian).

And a WDW trip coming up soon! Yippee! There are so many beautiful spots for photos - I'm sure the engagement pictures will be gorgeous!

Stick around and visit more!!

Long time away for me. I think I caught up with everyone's cruises, trips to DL, bad views at WL, and of course Becca's beautiful little girl. Congrats to all. Ou December trip was wonderful. No crowds ... Really enjoyed peaceful time by the pool and enjoyed trying beers around the world in Epcot with Tim and Daniel.

Since I was last here my daughter Maggie became engaged. While she has always dreamed of a Disney wedding her fiancée family was against it. So we found a very magical location here with a beautiful ballroom with massive chandeliers and large windows overlooking a beautiful golf course. She is very happy... She wants a Beauty and the Beast theme... She says the ballroom is very Belle like.... Many plans have been made...shocking how far out you have to book things. She is doing her table decorations with two themes... Large candelabras with yellow roses (Lumiere) and the other. Tables old books with tea pots and little clocks (mrs Potts and Cogsworth). Her bridesmaid dresses are from the alfred angelo Disney maidens collection and are yellow. She hasn't picked her gown yet.

Our other excitement was that my husband and I went to Spain for 10 days. Wow... What a beautiful country... We went to a bull fight (never again), went to Seville, Nerja, Malaga and then to Gibralter... It was a wonderful time. We stayed in a castle, drank too much wine and ate amazing food.

Next month my mom, my son Daniel, Maggie and her fiancée and I are going to Disney for a week. Maggie and Mike are having their engagement pictures done with a Disney wedding photographer... My gift to her because of not having her wedding there. We are staying at CSR (thanks Meghan).

I think that's all for us.... Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter.

Wendy

Congrats to Maggie! I'm sure the engagement photos will be wonderful.
Spain sounds wonderful. I understand never wanting to see a bull fight again.

Oooh...getting on here reminded me...this was my conversation with Logan last night.
Him: "Did you book a hotel for Disney?"
Me: "Umm...no, I didn't know we were going."
Him: "No promises, but you should book it."
(I told him last week that even Shades of Green would probably sell out, so we should lock it in now, and cancel later if we decide the trip isn't a possibility.)

I still don't know about inviting anyone from my family, but we'll see.
Now, I'm going to book it, and start working out a plan. :cool1:

Becca...... sounds like an open invitation to me to go... I would be right on that... once we start making plans there is no turning back...lol

The whole reason this May trip happened was my mom happened to mention while we were out looking at wedding venues that she loves the Flower and Garden festival... that was all Maggie had to hear... she was in... then Mike (her fiancee ) said he was in.... next thing I know I am booking a trip... Maggie and Mike are going the 16th - 20... but mom wanted extra days so her and I are going the 14th.... then last weekend Daniel was home from college and said he wanted to go.... good thing we know an excellent Disney travel planner (thanks Meghan)....

It's funny how that happens. I think that booking it definitely puts us halfway through the door. Now I can book ADRs at 180 days and such....
Part of the reason I'm not sure about inviting my family is that it cements it a little more AND I don't know if we want to make it a whole family endeavor.

I know my Mom. She would thoroughly enjoy going on a trip with just us, but she would feel as if she was leaving people out (my younger siblings mostly) so that kind of trip isn't likely to happen, unless we kidnap her at the last minute.
I would just plan on inviting my Dad or one of my siblings along, but since this is over Christmas break, my Mom would be offended if they got to come, and she didn't. Since we haven't gone over one of her school breaks before, it's easier to spare her feelings when we don't invite her.

After I talk to Logan about it some more, we'll decide what kind of trip we want it to be. Having someone along to help with the kids would be nice, but I don't want to bring people along for that purpose and then have it end up not happening. G was devastated over my brother's wedding weekend, because he wanted to stay with my Mom, but there was too much going on at her house, so we kept him with us.

I know a few excellent Disney TAs as well (;)) but Shades of Green doesn't count (I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong) so I guess I'm on my own this time. If we do add on a couple on property nights for our anniversary (since it will be in value season and we should be able to use the military discount) then I'll definitely be spreading the love.

Well, Becca, like I said before, let me know if and when you're going and hopefully we can cross paths! We will be there 12/27 or 28 - 1/2. I'd love to meet you, your hubby and your adorable kids!!

We'll set something up.:goodvibes

I've never actually managed to meet anyone from the DISboards yet.... Last time, Logan and G met someone from the April thread on a bus to POFQ, but I wasn't there.

You are welcome! :)

We always said we couldn't go without them either, but when you hit 20 years he will feel differently! LOL!! Especially since we take them every year. This was our first vaca without them so it was well deserved and much appreciated!! Its totally different doing Disney without kids…you get to slow it down so much and enjoy looking at things you normally don't have time for.

I couldn't go now without my kids but I definitely can see us going just the two of us when they are older. :cloud9:

aww, that is too bad. But totally understandable. I refuse to just do a 3 night cruise without some park time, but we have DVC, so it is a little cheaper for us. Now you get to plan a week at the parks!

Welcome back Shawna! SO glad you had a great trip! I'd love to do it without the girls - probably not for a number of years, but Dave would be into just relaxing and roaming, hanging out at the resort etc.
But for now, he is opposed to going anywhere without them, because he wants them to experience all the cool things we do.

Our big news is that we are going to WDW after Christmas!! We plan to go from 12/28 to 1/2 and then the three night cruise on the Dream! The kids do NOT know a thing yet! We haven't got all our rooms booked (we have to wait for the 7 month mark to book DVC since we don't have a lot of points at one resort). One of Paige's friends from dance - her family is surprising their kids with a cruise - and they are going on the same one as us! We're not telling them about it ahead of time. They are surprising their kids at Christmas. I'm excited and nervous - we've never gone at such a busy time! So I'm watching all the FP+ news and changes. I also think we're going to buy APs. We could get the Premium AP for about the same price as the AP with DVC deals but that offer is only good for purchasing through April. Don't have a lot of extra $ now, so we may just opt for the regular AP (It is just water parks extra). Then we will likely go back in June 2015 for a few days (and visit DH's sisters who live in FL and go to the beach) and hopefully October 2015 for Food and Wine!! I hope we can pull it off!!

So exciting to plan a surprise! Both my kids have said they want our next trip to be a surprise- they love being surprised. It's definitely harder but worth it!

Congrats to Maggie! Her wedding plans sound wonderful!

Not much going on here. My nephew has his prom tonight and we went to take some pictures. I'm feeling ancient. He was born the night I graduated high school (18 years ago this month- :scared1:yikes!!!) and now he's at a prom with his girlfriend! :scared:

Sounds lovely. I really want to try club level, but I think it will be several years before we can justify it.

Soooo....it seems that we may end up pushing our trip back a bit. If Logan gets his masters through a different school, he probably won't have to go back to class until January 20th. Once I confirm this, I think the earliest we'll go is January 2nd. I just can't justify the crowds, if we can avoid them. If we do a standard week-long trip, then Logan will still have a week to recoup before getting back to his studies. I might try to push for 10 days.....:rolleyes1

Of course...that means we don't "have" to stay at Shades of Green, but where should we stay?
Technically, before I got pregnant with Lydia, Logan promised that if I had another baby (I was slightly traumatized by G's birth) he would take me on my "dream" Disney vacation within reason.
The Wilderness Lodge is technically the next on our list for Deluxes, but I may want to push the envelope a bit, since this will probably be the only time in the foreseeable future that I have the prerogative.

It was almost easier when SoG was the only logical option.:sad2:

I would love to stay Club Level someday. I think Tony would be in heaven! Maybe someday with my TA discount we'll be able to swing it.

Wilderness Lodge would be a good choice for that time of year....Christmas decor is still up for a bit in early January and I always think of WL at Christmastime!

I loved the Boardwalk in 2012 and cannot wait to stay at the Yacht Club in September. I just like being SO close to Epcot!

Finally made a ticker!!!! not sure if I like it or not..Tink doesn't show up too well…so I may redo it, but had to get something on here, right?! LOL
Well…have been very very busy, but we celebrated Mikes birthday the first weekend of May, DS 15 the weekend of Mothers day, the next week was DD ballet/dance recital and the 23rd DS18 graduated!!! Had a lot of other things going on as well business and church related~suffice it to say May was crazy!!I have really not been on the boards at all lately. In fact, we have been out of town for the last 2 weekends and I have GOT to clean my house today:rotfl:
Seriously..y'all know how it is…laundry and floors never stay clean, so I had planned to do that all day yesterday, but we had business things come up that I had to do, so the house is still sad today! LOL!!

Yay for the Christmas surprise! I can't wait to read all about it.

Fun fun!

The WL is so beautiful! I always tell everyone that pictures don't do it justice. It is so relaxing there.

I can't wait to hear what you think about YC! I'm dying to stay there or BC when my girls are in high school/junior high.

I feel like a lunatic for cleaning my floors. I mop at night and then they get banana and cereal thrown on them in the morning. :crazy2: Can't wait to catch up soon!

Love the new ticker!

I adored the BWI during my last agency conference. Being able to walk to Epcot was the best thing ever! I have always wanted to stay at the BC/YC and I'm sad that my family couldn't join me (just not able to swing it financially). I must say, theme park view at the CR last Sept was pretty spectacular too! I am so spoiled now!

I want to make a ticker!!!! I wish my wallet would agree that planning another trip to Disney is a good idea! :rotfl: We're tossing around going back January 2015 or October 2015. This trip will be us, my parents and my sister's family.I'm hoping for January because it's closer but my parents may need longer to save for it so October would work better for them. We're having a hard enough time trying to figure out a time of year that fits what 3 families are able to do. Planning this trip could get messy!

Got my ticker!!

Kim I hope you get to plan a trip soon! We are hoping to be back in Oct 2015 too (will need to use those APs!) so maybe we'll cross paths!

I had a dream last night that DH said, hey pack a bag, we're leaving tonight on a plane! We went to WDW - Boardwalk! I kept calling work trying to get someone to cover for me! HA!! I wish I could do that!

But we are at 200 days now! Pretty soon ADR time. Does anyone know when they release the candlelight processional dinner packages?

Let's hope you get to make a ticker soon! I'm pretty sure we'll be taking a family trip sometime next year, just not sure on when. Madison is finishing up 6th grade right now, so it's going to be harder to take her out of school for a whole week. Although, she hardly got any homework this year so maybe that trend will continue! I really don't like going to WDW in the summer and we don't have any Fall breaks. I would still love to see the Christmas decorations!

I love dreams like that, but when the morning hits it's such a letdown.

CP dinner packages opened on July 9th last year.

So we finally got Logan's schedule, and now it looks like we're considering December 12thish to 20ish.
I haven't booked a reservation yet, because I can't decide what I want, and the military discounts haven't been released for the end of the year yet.
We're probably going to do half at Shades of Green and half at the Wilderness Lodge. I'm not excited about the split stay, but it's either that or go for less time, or do military tickets and only 4 days in the parks.
I'm still having trouble with the sticker shock, but Logan's likely to deploy immediately after he finishes his masters in March.

I am toying with the idea of doing 4 day tickets and the Christmas Party, but I don't think the kids would do great staying up that late.
