Garden Grocer, I guess its just a tad bit too much for my wallet

Was thinking about putting in a grocery order with Garden Grocer for some things when we go back to the world. So I went to their webpage to check them out. Well when I looked at the first item I would want, the price was almost $2 more than what I pay here at home. A 8-pack of the small Coke bottles, they run $3.50-3.89 her at home and on their site they were $5.79. I didn't look any further. And I am sure they charge for delivery, right?

I will just stick with buying items before we leave or when we get there.

Yes, it's definitely overpriced. There's a wal-mart and a target both not even 5 minutes away from WDW. If you have a car, I would definitely recommend shopping from there prior to checking in :)

For things like soda and snacks i would definitely check out PrimePantry. Cases of water for $3; 12 packs of soda for grocery store prices plus things like shampoo, crackers and more all available too. All delivered for $5.99

Yeah, GG is not cheap. They do have some things that are less expensive than my local stores but there is a lot of mark up as well. They do charge for delivery ($14, or only $2 if you spend $200+) but you can also get a discount up to 10% on your order for ordering early. We have been happy with their service in the past but are trying a different service this trip.

We tried GG in January. We flew down and used DME so without a car it that or buy what they sell at our hotel's little shop. It wasn't cheap but it was very convenient to have everything we needed waiting for us. Since we flew after school, our arrival at the resort was around 9pm so I really appreciated having milk for my coffee and lots of healthy snacks such as bananas, apples & grapes. We often eat a lot of junk at WDW.
It was delivered to our room right away, even before our luggage!

That is a great deal! Did you have it shipped directly to the resort? We tried that once buying a case of water from Costco that everyone else raved about but after waiting for a half hour while they tried to find it at the Poly, we finally gave up. When I called Costco in the morning, they said it was refused at the time of delivery (despite putting my name, res # and arrival date on it). I did get a refund but it was a lot of aggravation & disappointment. I'm reluctant to have anything shipped to the hotel like that again.

They ship right to the resorts! Just have the name the reservation is under, the check in date, and GUEST on the "ship to" tag. Its also pretty quick. If you find you've forgotten something or think you'll need more of an item you can order more and get it (generally) the day after next.

Florida in general has higher groceries. I always get sticker shock when we're down there. :faint:

Prices are definitely higher than where i shop at home but they are so much less than Disney! At home i would never pay 8 bucks for a case of water but i will through garden grocer because disney charges over 2 dollars a bottle (and no matter how many brita filters you use florida tap water is nasty!) Plus i travel with my small children so its nice to save luggage space and have diapers, wipes, baby food etc delivered. And beer!

It must be all relative. I found their prices less than our usual groceries. I really liked Garden Grocer.

We almost always use Garden Grocer, but we generally fly. One the few trips we have rented a car, we did a wal-mart run. That works too.
While GG is more expensive than what we pay at home, I found it cheaper than renting a car or taxi or purchasing the items on property so for us it makes sense. Of course, if we were to fly down with the items, we should have to pay for an extra suitcase. Either way, GG comes out to be the best option for us. We generally order so much stuff that it is only a small delivery fee because we have small children we need snacks, breakfast items, diapers, wipes, formula, milk, juice, water, soft drinks, fruit, etc.

Only thing to keep in mind is if you ship to a resort that has a convention center (CR, GF, BC/YC, BWI/BWV, CS) they charge a receiving/holding fee for all packages based on weight-I think a case of water is like $10 so that might negate the savings over Garden grocer if you ordered a couple cases of water or soda

I've looked at GG and WeGoShop. Prices are similar, but definitely higher than normal FL grocery prices. Since we fly SWA, it's been hard for me to order from either instead of just packing extra suitcases. We use DME, and at 2 free luggages a piece I can pack everything but milk.

If the free luggage ever goes away, ordering will most likely be the cheaper option for us.

Used Prime Pantry in.March - worked fantastically! Love the convenience of GG for fresh food and think the up charge on it is more than worth it. In the scheme of things, I am spending 1000s on a vacation -/a few extra dollars per products plus delivery = 25 or so total is just a drop in the bucket. Gladly pay it if it means avoiding a store on my vacay.

I was going to suggest We Go Shop. They go to the store you select and charge a fee based upon the amount you spend. I generally provide them with a shopping list a week in advance and modify it to include sale items when the circular comes out.

Because they are shopping where I asked, I found the prices to be far more reasonable than Garden Grocer.

I thought it was a bit pricey too. I'm going to bring snacks and breakfast items in our luggage. We are flying southwest and get two bags free each. I always bring one extra luggage that's pretty empty for the things we buy and bring back. This is perfect for some cereal, bagels, snacks, etc. At the resort gift shop I will buy milk and cream cheese. We will have refillable mugs (worth it for 10 day trip with plenty of resort time) for water, juice and soda.

I may even pack a bottle of vodka and captain morgan's. :)
