Within 24 hours I left my job, my boyfriend, and life behind to go work for Walt Disney World!

Something a lot of people appear to be forgetting: if a young man from the Midwest had decided against taking similar risks, there would be no Walt Disney World.

;)

A good thing to remember.

Yes, it's better to have money in the bank and a car that works well and everything else you might need when you get up and move, but if you wait for all of your ducks to be lined up in a row, it might never happen. Sometimes you have to take chances. Sometimes things go well, sometimes there are bumps in the road. You just have to keep moving and hope things work out.

Khalee - I hope things are getting better! Definitely sending you lots of pixie dust! pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

More props to you girl!!!!! I give you so much credit and I know if I was ever offered the oppurtunity I would for sure pursue it.

All of these people hiding behind their computer screens putting you down are cowards knowing that they will never get to live the adventure in which you are living! I just can't believe people would hijack your report to put you down! I personally can't wait to hear more, and live vicariously through you!

At the end of the day, we're all on the boards for a reason, right? I'm on because I love disney and want to be in on all the gossip and relive my experiences through others. It's ashame some users are on here to put others down, I thought WDW was the happiest place on earth!

Hi Khalee. Hope things are looking up for you. I just wanted to share a family story. My great grandfather was a soldier. He was an Italian citizen. While being stationed in France he met my great grandmother. They got married and soon became pregnant with my grandma. They decided to take a boat to The U.S. to start a new life with nothing in their pockets, but hope in their hearts. On their way my great grandmother gave birth to my grandma. Yes, she gave birth on the boat! My grandma was granted citizenship to Italy, France, and the U.S. They struggled at first, but persevered. They ended up having nine children. I wish I could say they lived it easy. As generations have grown their risk of a better future is paying off. My grandma often told me this story as I was growing up and it always inspired me. I know this story is not even close to being similar to your situation, but just thought it could possibly inspire you. I wish you the best and know you will persevere. I hope you will continue to update your trip report (life report). :-)

Just wanted to say I am following along and giving you positive thoughts. Risk is not for everyone. Maybe people wish they had it in them to do what you're doing? I don't know, but either way it's not fair to come here and bash someone for their choices.

I hope things keep getting better for you :)

OH MY!! You are AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a lurker but I have to jump in and tell you how much I am loving this post and following your adventure! You are a rare person with the guts to do what most of us wish we could of done. I can tell the negative posts have not rocked you and I am not surprised!! People with your spirit don't need others to understand your decisions and that is what makes you... YOU!! I agree with what you said, some of the details are boring so why add them in. You have captured an audience for a reason, because your writing is engaging! I am following along and can't wait for updates!!

Keep your Disney Spirit girl!! You are right where you are suppose to be!!

Congrats in all you have done so far! If I was your Mom I would be sooooo proud of you!! Heck I AM PROUD OF YOU and I don't even know you!

Sending pixie dust your way!!!

Where would we be if Walt Disney gave up on his dream at the first bump along his journey? I'm so glad you made it and have that wonderful family helping you! Please keep us updated with your story. I'm sure the negative is just concern, please don't let it stop you from finishing your story. Good luck !!!

For all those saying she shouldn't have done this... Remember people have different risk tolerance. Personally I couldn't do this. I would be way to nervous with little money and no family in the area. I couldn't leave a stable job for something that could only be seasonal.

However a lot of things I very much like wouldn't have ever been developed if everyone else was this risk adverse. Sometimes I envy those that can do things like this. I know someone that went on a tour of Europe with just knowing what cities he wanted to go to and not even knowing where he was going to stay before he left... I envy his ability to take that leap of faith that everything would work out... I wouldn't be able to go without confirmation numbers in hand.

I too am a lurker on these boards...but when I saw your trip report, I knew I just had to reply...WOW ----you are SO brave! And despite what people say, you've done an amazing thing! It's not easy, there are lots of bumps on the road of life, but it's how you chose to handle them that makes you who YOU ARE! Trust in yourself...and believe in yourself, and you can never go wrong! Congrats for taking the Leap...Good luck!:flower1:

I'm going to piggy-back on Emom's anti-cheerleading;

You do know Disney has very strict guidelines concerning appearance for their castmembers? I think it's great that you're your own person and someone obviously spent a lot of time on your hair color, but that and the visible tattoos just won't fly with Disney.

And I'm shocked your parents just let you jump in a car and take off without checking the basics to make sure it would actually make it to Orlando. That's a pretty far drive for an old car.
When you are 21, especially with a full-time job, your parents don't "let you" do things.

Khalee,

We will be looking for you in a couple of weeks!! :)

Things will work out!

Sending good thoughts your way!!! Looking forward to seeing you in the most Magical Place on Earth in 2 weeks!

Always remember.... All you need is Faith, Trust and a little Pixie Dust!!!!

One of my biggest regrets after I graduated college was that I didn't apply for jobs all over the country. I was so concerned about making a set salary and having health benefits, I never explored and traveled. Good for you for doing so.

I will keep my eyes open for you when we are down in August.

Cheers to you!

Just wanted to chime in and tell you good luck! Was it a risk? Sure. Is there a chance you may fail? Yes. But, is there a chance you will succeed? YES! 21 and single is the perfect time to take a risk!

I did the CP in 2001 and then went back to college in North Carolina and then eventually moved home. I almost moved back to FL when I was 24 but I stayed because I was offered a great full time job. When I got married I thought, well the risk taking phase is over, we're stuck here. Thankfully my husband wanted to try something new in 2010 and we moved to FL. Our situation was a little different in that we sold our house and then bought one there and paid for it in full and had savings left over, but we didn't have jobs. Now we're working on heading back there!

I wish you luck! Enjoy yourself!

You cant be comparing the two as similar. Please tell me that you aren't. I know this is a Disney board, but really, come on.

Can I ask you to please start a post on the Community Board where you can discuss by people should not take risks. We already heard your point of view and people already responded and I'm really enjoying this report and I for one do not want to see it go off subject. I think the only negative that should appear here is what comes from this incredibly brave girl... and from the sounds of it she doesn't get negative, the bumps only push her further. I bet if we ask her of any time she quit something in her life I bet there would not be much. People that are adventurous like her don't give up. Which is why we love this report. It would be kindly appreciated if we let her tell her story. Thank you so much!!!

TO OTHERS ENJOYING THIS REPORT

If you agree with me, let's all ignore the posts that are downers. If we dont comment on them then they can't grow and sour this post.

Sending positive thoughts and pixie dust your way! I am really enjoy your report and wish you the best of everything.

By no means am I saying she is the next Walt Disney, or that the stories are identical, but in the context of taking risks rather than playing it safe, there are most definitely similarities.

You didn't need it anyway. Your personal auto insurance would cover you. Same as with rental cars. Always skip the insurance if you have your own!

Not necessarily - depends completely on what coverage you carry and what exactly your policy covers. While you personal auto policy may cover such things, not all do. Also, comparing insurance for Uhaul trucks vs rental automobiles is certainly like comparing apples vs oranges - 2 very different things.

All and all, very poor advice - one more false fact on the internet :cool2:
