Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

:rolleyes2
Oh and did I mention, I'm a blubbering mess.
That show always makes me cry too!
To all of the fantastic dads I have met through this forum, I wish you all a wonderful Fathers' Day. Raising your kids with a love of Disney is a great thing!

Happy Father's Day guys.

I always think it's weird that Father's Day is the same date for us but Mother's Day isn't.

Can I ask your Fast Pass plan opinion?
We land at 3:10 PM on a Tuesday, picking up rental car. Est arrival at Beach Club?? 4:30?? What time should I book my first FP for Epcot? And, should I book a dinner at Via Napoli for 6:30 that night? That time is open or should I just counter service?

Thank you for your help.

A counter service meal would give you the most flexibility- you can eat when you want to and around any FP that you book. Less expensive, too. Personally, I love Sunshine Seasons and Tangierine Café.

If you are trying to book FP for that night, maybe optimize for TT or Soarin from 8-9 (planning on watching Illuminations after your FP time), and then plan two more for 6-7 and 7-8. It is ok if you don't make the one from 6-7 since it will probably be for an attraction that doesn't have much of a line anyway, so if you miss it, no big deal.

That would be a pretty great arrival night for me!

:goodvibes:

Depends on how fast your luggage comes thru and how long the line is at the rental counter, plus traffic. I wouldn't expect to be at BC until close to 5pm. I wouldn't book a dinner before 7pm, but that's just me. Counter service might be your better option since all table service restaurants have the 24 hour cancellation policy. I'd hate for something to delay you (which has happened to us several times).

Great advice.

I will be at the Yacht Club in April next year! Can't wait. I'll be flying over from the UK; and the one thing that concerns me is I've head about lower limits on aircon in the rooms, (which I believe is 72F?); Being from an island with persistently crap weather and climate - and thus much lower average temperatures - I won't be able to sleep in that kind of heat (being 72F). I've also read there are tricks you can use to override the thermostats; but presuming this doesn't work for reason XYZ, would the front desk and/or maintenance people be willing to help us out with this? -- I mean, it's not like you don't already pay enough to stay there; sleeping comfortably shouldn't be too much to ask!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

:cool1:

Based on comments from others, you should be able to get your room comfortably cool for sleeping!

Dee-

Do you plan to do a Trip Report for your Yellowstone adventure? It's definitely on our list when our girls are a couple years older. Our good friends have gone and I plan to use all the tips and tricks I can! I know many people complain about Disney being complicated to plan, but a big National Park trip boggles my mind!
Mary

I think so!

Of course I am currently juggling 3 other reports and I already have a title in mind for my August solo DISmeet trip!

I have not done any planning yet for the Yellowstone trip- that scares me since this is such a brand new experience for us! Once school lets out at the end of the week I should have more free time.

:)

November 19-27 BC CL 15th anniversary trip!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:woohoo:

Hi everyone. we got in Thursday afternoon. We are having a great time. We've been to Magic Kingdom, Studios and Epcot for a little while each place. We also spent a couple of hours in the pool. So awesome. Anyway, right now I'm having a hard time uploading my pictures but as soon as I can, I'll post my room view here (and wherever else Dee requests). I can also confirm that there are serious scuff marks on the doors on the fifth floor. Of course that is having zero impact on our vacation so far. So awesome. We are headed to Epcot today. Either tomorrow or Monday, I will post some pictures from the resort as it is live.

Also, yes the second floor is closed off in the lobby. They are still putting some people on that floor but are sending them to the back elevator to go up to that floor. Hopefully I'll have more in a couple of days.

So glad to hear you are off to a good start. Thanks so much for your updates!

:thumbsup2

Just for the heck of it I went onto the WDW site today to poke around. I was told I that tonight (technically tomorrow) at midnight was my time to book FP+ times. I clicked on the FP+ link and lo and behold I could start booking them!! I could't believe it! I got everything I wanted at all of the times I wanted. I even booked the Anna & Elsa meet on a whim after I booked everything else (my kids are 13 and 17 so no big deal to them) for fun and got the exact time I wanted for that as well!

The moral of the story is to always go in and check because you never know. Also, don't sweat the going on at midnight deal because I went in at 10:00 am (I'm assuming I could of gone on last night at midnight) and got everything I wanted. Don't stress, it will all work out!!

Jay

Congrats! Thanks so much for sharing that info with us!

:goodvibes:

Finally back home - wonderful trip made perfect by the awesomeness that is Beach Club. Here are some photos of the lobby where you can see the plastic on the second level where they are working on it. They are also working on the first floor rooms (at least ones close to the lobby).

Here are a few room pics (room 5632 - a few rooms down the hall from the CL lobby). It was a dormer room with full balcony. No day bed but it was nice to have the extra space. I liked the Roman shades and the view from the balcony was perfect! You could easily see the Epcot fireworks and could see Boardwalk by looking to the right. DH and I agreed that the food we had in the CL lounge was some of the best we had at Disney - no joke - and it was so nice to have the extra space to hang out in.

I'm glad you had a great trip!

Thanks for sharing these great pictures with us!

Hi everyone! We are getting ready for our first stay at the Beach Club in just 3 weeks. We are usually at AKL so this resort is all new to us but my oldest just begged to stay here this time and since it's her 16th birthday trip I caved!

Any pointers are making the most of our stay here? We plan on taking advantage of the pool for sure but is there anything else we should know or be doing? Thanks!!

Oh and we will be there July 13th - July 18th!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:cheer2:

Make sure you check out the first page of this thread, especially Posts 13 (FAQ) and 14 (Other Useful Info). There are some real gems there. Get familiar with the "Secret Entrance" near room 1501, although whenever construction is happening there, that tip will not be as helpful.

The July activities listing will be posted here early next month. Make sure you check that out!

:)

Well I did it. Just switched our waterview room to CL!

Now to do some quick Disney math to explain to DH how in the long run it really isn't costing us $800 more

I told myself if it was available with our free dining BB I would take that as a sign it was meant to be! I think I am a CL junkie!

I have updated the Be Our Guest list through the current page (I think). Please take a moment to look at the list to make sure I have your information posted correctly.

trying to upload from my iPhone - got one to post, the others not so much!

As you can see we don't have a few of the fireworks - but we are close to the elevator (my most important need!) and we are in a Studio BCV. And I feel we're on vacation!

The rain last night was intense, not as intense as this heat! Its unbearable for me, but dd and dh are out having a "daddy/daughter" Father's Day! I'm doing laundry!

We had 4 nights at WL, CL, and it was perfect (altho apparently the Lodge feels like they need to have some heat to give the 'feel' of the Lodge? as in, not so much a/c! Not in the CL CM area, well, there is some, but it felt hot to me! Ambiance they called it! I felt sorry for the CM's!)

We moved by way of Uber - we signed up at home, with a code to get the first ride $20 off I believe, tip is included - and an SUV came within 10 min, got our luggage in and arrived at Beach Club 10 min later - our room was ready - I did want them to test our Magic Bands, since it could be associated with WL - and it did take her some time (probably 5 min, but it felt long! :) And hearing the people next to us checking in to their BC CL rooms.... :)

So an option for anyone else doing a split stay - it worked perfect for us!

We have an Epcot Tour scheduled for tomorrow - we must be there at 8:30. In talking with the CM, we have to be at the Guest Relations at the Front of the park - he wasn't sure we could walk through to the front of the park - I wasn't sure I wanted to in this heat BEFORE the walk in the heat with the tour!

So - we are going to take a cab (or Uber) to the front of Epcot - again, just information for anyone else that may want to take a tour

You can walk through International Gateway for Norway Breakfast, that's not a problem btw!

Ok I need advice! Currently we have a regular room booked at beach club resort for our family of 6 ( mom, dad, 4 kids with one under 2). We have the opportunity to get a 1 bedroom on the villa side. Now, I know the new rooms are suppose to have a pull down murphy. Ideally, the one bedroom would be SOOO much better for our family than the standard room. Do we think that by our trip[ ( Sept 19-26) chances are that they will have at least some of the villas done and ready for occupancy? I would love to move us to this one bedroom if we can swing it logistically.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news...unfortunately the BCV Murphy is only going to be in the renovated studio rooms, not in the one-bedrooms.

From what I understand with the reno's they are just finishing the mock-up rooms, they released a large amount of inventory for August last week, so I am not sure where they will be at with them by your dates.

My understanding is that the studios will get the pull down murphy bed, but not the one-bedrooms. So the studio maximum occupancy will go up by one but the one-bedroom maximum occupancy will not change. You have 5 people plus a child under two. I believe that is too many for a one-bedroom. I think I saw something about this last night, maybe on the DVC boards.

edited to add: peace_all posted faster than I did!

Teena is trying to make it home...

She had a flight scheduled out of Chicago this morning at 1 am. They boarded the plane at 12:30 and then the flight was cancelled so everyone had to get off the plane. They were back at the airport this morning and their flight was delayed. YUCK!!!

I can't remember if she is scheduled to work at the Beach Club tomorrow.

I'll let you know when I hear she is back home.

:)

What is it about that airport?! My husband was just in Chicago this past week for a golf trip. Both his flight there and his flight home were delayed by at least 2 hours!

For anyone at the BC right now.... Could you please post the current bounce back offer and valid dates?

:cool1:Congratulations, Disney math always works out. There is the food savings, drink savings, extra square footage with the lounge, less stress of room assignment knowing you will be on the 5th floor somewhere, the ability to book that 4th FP via text (time IS money in Disney)......I have more. Let me know if you need help! :thumbsup2
