So we were in WDW last week and we observed a mom changing a poopy diaper in the FP line at the Jungle Cruise.

Not let me set the stage because this was NOT some oops some accident that happened when she was in line and had been waiting for hours...not that would be acceptable either IMHO. You leave the line no matter what!

Ok my family approached the JC FP line. There was a mom, dad, maybe a 2yr old (could walk) and an older kid maybe 5 in front of us. They had NOT scanned their bands yet. In fact, they were holding up the line, pulling the 2yrold pants off. Dad then left the line. Mom then proceeded to hold up the line more by saying that she had lost the grandmothers and could they get on the ride with them later. The CM was kind of laughing at her story asking her what she meant by lost. We tried to get around them to get on the ride but no luck.

Suddenly the grandmas appeared and they scanned their bands, minus dad. We go through the line, dad now cuts through suddenly with the diaper bag. Mom then proceeds to hold up the line right before you scan again, lays the child btw her and a grandma and changes the diaper right then and there. And even though we tried to avert our look, we could tell it was a poopy diaper as we turned away. My DS12 was upset that everyone could see the kid's private parts and felt bad for the kid. The CM who was on the loading dock, told her that she should not be doing it there and there were more appropriate places to do this. Mom just said "oh no biggie, see I am done" The CM said that is not the point, it in unsanitary. The other CM standing next to her whispered "that's so gross" I have to agree. I think I saw mom put the diaper in the trash bin before you ride that sits out in the hot FL sun..ick. And I can not confirm or deny if she cleaned her hands with wipes or hand sanitizer. They then got on the ride.

Now I do not understand why she would not have gone and changed the child elsewhere...oh say the bathroom!!!! They had NOT scanned their bands, even if their FP was going to expire I bet instead of talking about lost grandmas, she could have asked the CM to allow them in AFTER they went to a proper place to change the child.

I posted this on Facebook and most thought this was disgusting but some actually did not see the big deal and claimed they have done it or would consider it, and some that slammed me for posting about it. Oh well!

What say you?

I'm with you, absolutely gross and definitely not necessary but it "takes all kinds of people" to make the world go 'round. I can't imagine not taking my child to the bathroom to change their diaper.

I don't see the big deal. Stuff happens.

:crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2:

I say it is filthy, disgusting and unsanitary. :crazy2::crazy2::crazy2:

You dont see exposing others to disgusting poop and smell a big deal???? You dont see exposing your child's private parts to a line full of people a big deal???? All when it could have been done elsewhere in private, either in the proper place for human waste or even a more private area like in their stroller or something. This was not an accident far from the diaper bag. They could have just not entered the line taken care of business properly and privately and then entered the line and enjoyed the ride and not subjected other guests to all of that.

I'll say it again... No, I don't see the big deal. Stuff happens.

Edited to add: We only know the facts based on your story. None of us know what may have caused this to take place. It could be that they are gross and inconsiderate. It could also be something else entirely. I just choose not to judge what it might or might not have been based on a singular account.

I get it. I really, truly do. BUT, honey, please don't ever come to Europe. For one thing, there is no such thing as a changing table here in any bathroom except maybe Ikea or McDonalds, and if you're very lucky, airports. I have been forced to change my child in some odd places, but "when in Rome..."

This is the only part I disagree with. How were you "exposed"? You could see it? Walk around your neighborhood, I bet you'll see piles of poop everywhere. No, it's not human poop, but does it really make a difference? As for the smell, that could also be provided by someone farting.

That being said, I agree, the mother should not have changed the diaper there.

Stories like this are why I am not looking forward to a trip to MK we have planned for next year.

Yes you could see it, and I also unfortunately saw it when she wiped the kid. I was not trying to look but this was at the curve in the line so at one point it was hard not to see until we all quickly say...oh my and turned our heads. And no I dont see a lot of poop around my neighborhood, we have a lot of dogs but my neighbors are good about picking it up and walking away with their bag of poop. :)

Poopy diapers don't bother me (I have 6 children, including 2 in diapers), but I still think it's an odd thing to do. Even if it were perfectly sanitary, didn't smell bad, etc., you're supposed to be moving in line, and you can't do that while changing a diaper. And it's much, much easier to change a child just about anywhere else. I can't even imagine the logistics of changing a child in line.

Over the years, I have had a few times when I didn't have a good option for changing a baby's diaper. When that happens, if the car isn't a viable place to change them, I change them in the stroller. I take it to an out-of-the-way place with no other people, turn the stroller away from traffic, lower the shade, and change the diaper as quickly as possible. I think I've only had to do it two or three times, and the diapers were wet, not poopy. I'd go to great lengths to find a better place to change a dirty diaper.
