We hang bathing suits over chairs on balcony. In August heat, dries pretty fast.

So true - this is what we did last year at CR. I'm thinking of what to do just in case we don't have a balcony. Is there enough room to hang suits outside if you're on the 2nd floor? Otherwise I've already stuffed my hanging dryer into the suitcase, ready to go for tomorrow!!!

Hi, can anyone describe to me where the walking path is between the poly and shades of green? Also, how long does it take to walk b/w the GF and the western side of poly (Aotearoa)?

Hi all, first time here. We are planning a stay at the Poly next May for the first time :) We will be staying DVC in a standard view villa (reallllly want lake view, but won't trade trip length for view ;) ). With that said, can anybody give me recommendations for a good room location? Also, not all the rooms have balconies, correct? TIA :)

I can't help with the view but I do know all DVC rooms have balconies as they converted the newer longhouse that had balconies on all floors to DVC.

No idea, never had 2nd floor. But when we stay at POR they have a cord in bathtub for clothes line. If not I just use shower rod.
Hope we have balcony. Fingers crossed. We'll be there 2 weeks, so kinda important to me. I love sitting outside early mornings and evenings.

Two weeks - lucky you! I will keep my fingers crossed for you to get a balcony!
We are there Aug 22-28 - tomorrow!!!! :mickeyjum I think our trips overlap - maybe we will see you there?! I'll be the tall mother-on-edge with three boys buzzing around her, pic in avi. Say hello or avoid at all costs if you see us ;):rotfl:

We are here for two more nights, and I've been enjoying every minute of it. I've been to many of Disney's resorts dozens of times (with many more to do) so I thought I would share some thoughts, and at the same time stress that I'm not a picky traveler, just an observant one. Soooo on to some of my random thoughts about this resort.

I had a burger at the food court, and noticed the patty has changed since years past- it's larger...but not as good.

The dole whip stand was great, (it's a big portion)

Fireworks from the beach was pretty cool.

Dinner at Ohana made a good memory, and I thought the food was generally okay/fair (and some of it excellent!)

I love the rooms, I mean who wouldn't? With that said, you can tell what is original bones and what is not, as they (and the buildings) show their age just a tad. I think it adds character though. The elevators are tiny (hey, this was 40+ years ago, when people were smaller...)

The lapu lapu drink in a pineapple is good, but the wifes mango something rather was BETTER ;)

Entering the front lobby never gets old.

daily newspapers right outside the elevators every morning (free)

The pool was very nice and the kids area a nice bonus (I got right in there with my two year old son and splashed around- we were surprised how deep it was) Come to think of it though, all Disney pools seem really nice.

One thing that's sort of minor, is today, I noticed two baggage carriers counting their money (1's)
One was right at the front door lobby, and the other was near my room. I know, you want to count your tips, but there is a time and place for that, and this looked very unprofessional. I don't think if the right people saw that, that they would be pleased. (shrugs)
Front door people in general are reallyyy nice though.

Magic bands didn't seem to open the pool gates for everyone (myself included) took us a minute or two to get in.

Magic bands to get into your building sliding doors at night, but the upper floor doors with staircase seemed to be open a tad/didn't shut all the way.

And that's all I can think of for the moment. Overall, it's been great, and really fulfilled my desire to come here. I look forward to returning. I check into the All Star sports on Sunday for another week and then it's back home.

:smickey:

Huli Pau!

Looking forward to our first Poly stay in January! DH and I are travelling without the kids :thumbsup2 and are booked in a villa standard view for 2 nights, 1/18 & 1/19, after 3 nights at AKV. Can't wait! I've been wanting to stay here forever :cloud9:

Here at the Poly now. Checking out tomorrow :( we have had a great stay. We are in Aotearoa first floor monorail side room 1201. The view isn't spectacular but it is perfect for us. Room 1201 is the first room when you walk in so easy in and out of our room. It's WAY too hot to enjoy the outdoor patio so the view is a moot point. The location to the boat, pool and GC was perfect. We could here the luau a little bit but falling asleep to the distant sound of drums was nice. We could not here the monorail at all. We use it to dry clothes. The pool is AWESOME. However the chairs are taken pretty quickly and there is virtually no shade. As far as locked gates - nope. Even when they were locked CM's just let people I because opening the gate was hard even if your band worked. The only time I heard construction was when I was in the pool and between the slide, waterfall and kids, it wasn't even noticeable.

All and all a perfect stay. Enjoy if you have a trip coming up!

I just posted pix from my recent stay at gf. (Gf thread)I walk between poly and gf a few times each year. We walked slowly this last time because dd had dress shoes on and was slower than our usual pace but still was only 10 mins with stopping for pix.

Your morning view from Fiji...
image.jpg Yesterday's magical recap:

~Flight took off and landed early.

~ME bus waiting for us with only a 10 minute wait on bus before departing.

~First dropped off so less than a 30 minute trip to Poly.

~No room text so worrying...

~Walk into lobby around 12:45 and stand behind other guests checking in, but Sean comes and gets us, puts leis on us gives us a warm welcome and announces...the EXACT 3 requests I faxed AND room is ready:faint:

~Grabbed some lunch (looooong line at CC) and split a Dole swirl with DD. Nice CM even offered to pour them into separate cups. The CM said I got the bottom and DD got the top:p

~DME bags arrived exactly 3 hours after us.

This morning, DD and I burned some calories at the gym in preparation for Kona breakfast:)

I am missing the family of ducks that hangs out near Captain Cooks

Disney Depression setting in

Now that I'm home I figured out the photobucket thing again
This was our room view from the second floor of Samoa

It worked out great. Mere steps to the pool, Lanai, CC, Trader Sam's. A short walk to the monorail and busses. Could not see Wishes from the room but that was easy to solve
