Most Overrated things people rave about at WDW

Stitch.... OVERrated?!
Well, yeah. A lot of people still think it's a 'good' attraction and just put it on a pedestal- some things on my list aren't quite over-rated, but I just can't understand the wait times for them, like Kali. Who even wants to go on a ride like that when the water is cold?!?

The best thing about this thread is seeing the reality of the phrase "in the eye of the beholder." Some love and hate the exact same things, and that is one reason WDW is so successful, they have something for almost everyone!

Just don't give up on things after one bad try; for instance:

If you liked dinner that much, my guess is you caught a bad day for lunch (could be wrong though if the menu just didn't suit you).
It was a bit chaotic at lunch. I prefer the TS experience more and the food was way better. I could've said I'm never going back to BOG at all, for any meal after that. I'm glad I didn't write it off completely after lunch, and tried dinner because I fell in love with the place after dinner. Lunch just wasn't for us. Plus they really screwed up my DDP credits, didn't get my food until the others in my party were already finished and I asked a CM 3 times.. the others felt so bad for eating but I just told them not to worry about it. The experience part of it may have been an off day, but it really made me not like the way they do quick service there. Dinner was just awesome, kind of sad it's not our list places we are eating this year.

MSEP...The music makes me want to kill myself
Fantasmic..one trick pony water screens and its a parade on a boat. (dragon is cool but that's it)
Splitsville - its poor excuse for a bowling alley, and the shoes have so much crud on them you could break a leg from sticking to the lane
I will defend to the end the dole whip, the turkey leg, and Wishes.

What are some of the most overrated things to do at WDW for you guys.. Could be attractions shows retaurants etc
My top 5
1-Fantasmic(blah)
2-Dole Whip
3-Soarin(just ok in my opinion)
4-mickey ice cream bar
5-Carribbean Beach resort

My top 5
1) Wishes Dessert party - did it in April of 15 on a trip with my aunt when it was half the price (about $25pp), then again in December 15 when I was with my husband, daughter and son-in-law as they wanted to experience it. It was about $50pp and imo the desserts were of lesser quality. And Wishes is my absolute favorite, so for me to not think this is worth it is sayin' something!
2) FANTASMIC! - done it a couple times, but just don't love it
3) Dole Whip - just not to my liking
4) Mickey ice cream sandwich
5) GF - Agree with others - it's pretty enough, but RIDICULOUSLY priced. If I am going to spend that kind of money, I'll stay at the Contemporary where I can WALK to and from MK!

In case people think I started this thread just to be negative....I started an underrated thread too( its not even getting a quarter of the traffic this one is.. O boy

1. Fantastic, I like the exit music, but the water screen projections are so-so.
2. Mickey Bars....it's just ice cream in the shape of mickey
3. Specialty Cupcakes as desserts.... it's a cupcake, not very good at that, with a seasonal frosting decor. Give me specialty desserts, pies, cobblers, tarts, not a freakin cake

1. Stormalong Bay. That's not even a real lazy river. We stayed at Yacht Club after staying at Wyndham Bonnet Creek. Much preferred Bonnet's lazy rivers and pirate pool.
2. The main pool at the Poly. What is so special? People actually try to pool hop there? I didn't even care for it when I was a paying guest. I think we're done with onsite hotels.
3. Dinner at Ohana. Not terrible, just don't understand the hype.
4. BOG. Again, not terrible, but not wonderful.
5. Ice cream at Beaches and Cream. It's Edy's. Nothing special. However, they handle my daughter's peanut allergy very well, so they get our business.

BOG, any time. Food has always been mediocre-lousy, and at lunch the dining room is a mess all the time.

MM+ and all things associated with it- magic bands, FP+, MDE, etc.

Fantasmic. We enjoy it, but it's DEFINITELY not a must-do.

TSMM and 7DMT both make me motion sick. Even though other rides make me sick also, there is no concrete reason (spinning, big drops, etc.) for these two to make me sick... and yet, they do.

Disney Springs/Downtown Disney. We are NOT shoppers, so to spend hours walking in and out of stores is boring, at best.

Disney bus system. Love to take Magical Express, but the rest? UGH. Usually someone rides the bus (for the luggage handling convenience) while someone else gets the rental car, and we meet at our hotel. Rental car is always faster!

Vinylmation and TsumTsum. Creepy.

Dining plan. If I'm paying a premium for the convenience of pre-paying, I should get to choice in what/how I want to eat. Give me a choice of 1; appetizer/salad/side/dessert. Don't make me eat whatever overly sweet schlock is being offered that day- especially at QS!

Deluxe resorts. While the theming is nice, the quality isn't there. These are NOT real deluxe-level resorts- except maybe for the price!

That's because sharing something that you love that is often overlooked by others is enough to start a stampede and is likely to ruin what you liked about it in the first place (availability, lack of crowds, nice for the price etc.). Case in point is the pre-park opening ADRs.

1. Finding Nemo- The Musical The first time I saw it I thought maybe it was because it was 100 outside with 100% humidity and it didnt feel any cooler inside. Went a 2nd time on the next trip. Nope. Nothing about it appealed to me, at all. It wasn't a musical....and shouldn't be.

2. The Great Movie Ride I still go on it because I LOVE movies and there are some great scenes in the ride. But not enough of them. At. All. Needs a serious update. a SERIOUS update.

3. Test Track 2.0 I LOVED the original. Would ride it over and over again as a single rider. I still LIKE the ride but the sequel just doesn't come close for me. From the time killing car design, which affects the ride in NO WAY, to the doing away of the hot/cold section this updated version is a disappointment for me.

4. Indiana Jones Once was enough. Tear it down and put in a Indy Jones rollercoaster or exciting indoor ride like the one at Disneyland (which I've only seen on YouTube)

5a. Big Thunder during the daytime It's too slow a ride during the daytime and not worth the wait. So I never go on it. However, once it gets dark Big Thunder is fantastic. Everything seems to pop better and the ride seemingly gets faster (because, you know, it's dark....same reason why Space Mountain can get away with only being 25mph).

5b. Starbucks anywhere I'm not a coffee drinker at all. To each their own. BUT seeing a major brand advertised on Main Street (or anywhere inside WDW) is a bummer because I come to WDW to ESCAPE to everyday commercialization that dominates the world I live in daily. WDW is its own little World. Letting a Starbucks inside that world sorta breaks that protective bubble from the outside world for me.

Well poop. I'm planning a first family DW trip and everything I have on my "to-do" list has been hit at least once in this thread. I guess we will just roll up in the parking lot and just camp out there. Well, unless somebody says the parking lots are over rated.

I know... I'm kidding. I'm just wanting my kids to feel that same magic I felt 30 years ago even if I know the pirates will never get the cell keys from that dog.

I'm heading over to the under-rated thread to find something that will get us out of the parking lot. :teeth:

Yes!! What is up with the wait time at Peter Pan??? It is always so high yet I never hear anyone say they actually love it and look forward to it. It never makes sense to us.

I'm going against the grain here, but I loved Peter Pan! Like seriously loved it - it's the ride I'm really looking forward to when we go back next year. I will disclose we only waited about 10 minutes to ride it (standby) as we hit it right at rope drop, though. :D

Exactly! Love it!

I can do campfires and movies and bike & boat rentals at one of a dozen parks within 30 minutes of my house. Why would I travel to WDW to do that?

You can find rides and meet characters and eat at any park, restaurant, or fair much closer to your house too. Why go to Disney World at all then? Heck, you can see videos of the rides at home and have food delivered, why even leave the house then? If your vacation dream is to sit in a theme lark with 50k people waiting in line for everything for a week or more all day every day, hey go for it.

Never understood Vinylmation... and they're ugly!

Gave up on the Dining plan too.

Did I mention that the parking lot is overrated? ;)

Seriously, your family will have a great first trip. And while I might find certain things overrated, I still enjoy some of them. I wouldn't turn down a Dole Whip or Mickey bar.
