The ABC's of Trip Planning, Pt 1- K is for Keeping Things Kooky- Drinks V-Z; pg. 197 + New Link

I'll keep at it for the next 3 weeks and hope for the best.

And that will be just fine.

It turned out to be 16, as you know.

::yes::

LOTS of the nurses at my facility do doubles (of the 8s) all the time, so I'm not alone. And to be honest, when I'm only working about a day every couple weeks, why not rack them up when I can. The paycheck will be music to my bank account.

Interesting that lots do.
Today (which is the norm) I'm scheduled for an 8 hour day from 7am-3pm, then a night from 11pm-7am. I'd much rather sleep in and work 3pm-7am.

Who's getting older?

I was referring to me!

Been a veritable Foodfest the last few days. Oy! Yesterday Treager tri-tip and a tableload of game sausage. Today my DFIL presented us with a feast of homemade pulled pork Sammies and his famous potato salad. I brought banana splits for dessert. Yes, there were cherries. Lots of cherries.

Tomorrow is my first day at the gym. 99 days is cutting things close. Too close!!!

Her is a little Tidbit for your TB .In England at 14 children are tested for TB IF they are negative the get a shot to immune them for it . It is a horrible shot hurts and aches for days . I had to always tell employers I had had BSG as I would test positive for TB . Well about 10 years ago the Health department decided to test to see if people who had received the vaccine years ago were still immune and guess what we weren't THAT year , but we sure were the next year!! So once agin No TB testing for me !!

When I moved here to NY from VA, I tested + on my PPD when I went for my pre-work physical. I had just tested neg that April for my yearly at the last job so I must have been exposed between April and July. Crazy. I had to take that INH for 9 months, it was a pain setting it up and taking it, having to go through the Dept of Health, etc but it was worth it to me--No more PPD's!!! LOL

Keeping Things Kooky- Drinks I-M

The morning finds us trekking around AK where the deer and the antelope play. I figure if they can, so can I. This could possibly include dancing with Tam Tam Congo, facing a Yeti, or watching an animal surgery. It might also include a sip or 2 of an Island Bloody Mary as I continue my Alphabetical Approach to Quenching my Thirst. Of course, it could include all, or even none of that. But it's likely to include at least some or most. Maybe. I mean it's vacation, and while I have big plans, I'm also notuhnaziparktourer.

You've seen 'em before, can another image hurt??

DSC02961.jpg

J is after I. Almost always. Unless you use an entirely different alphabet. But this PTR is in English and uses the Latin alphabet. (The tip jar is over there on the counter. ;) )

After a day at AK, and a nice long break at our resort, we'll head over to the Yeehaw Bob show to meet up with some mighty fine folks! I'm so super excited to meet up with Rosie again and her crew of clients, as well as Marv and Pat; Pat for the 2nd time actually. Hey @Poolrat , I found some pretty good photos of us... Anywhooo.... we'll be getting our silly on with the help of Mr. Bob Jackson, a long-time staple who puts on a phenomenally funny show. Last year, I went to this same show with Mary and had a very nice (Mint) 'J'ulep. I chose that because when in the South, do as the Southerners do and sit on your porch and drink bourbon. And mint. Please to do not forget the muddled mint. Which reminds me, I have some mint I really need to take care of in the garden. Best be making me a Julep for the 4th and bring a little South to the Great PNW. Sorry, got side-tracked. Back to business...

K is for Kermit, kibbitz, and kimchee. Had me some of 'dat the other day with my eldest daughter when we went to Korean for lunch. I gotta quick tell you about this place and toot a little horn for them. (Which has nothing to do with the kimchee.) In addition to making out of this world, crazy good Korean food for a $5.95 lunch deal, every Tuesday at 2:00 they shut down and serve a meal for the homeless community here in Salem. They regularly serve in the community like that, and I just gotta say, that's the kind of business I can happily patronize. Anyway, the kimchee was perfectly spicy and vinegary. Mmm!

'K' also happens to be for Krakatoa Punch. Because why would I go to Trader Sam's and not get some? For that is where I'll be after a long sleep-in the following day. A little pool time, perhaps a little laundry, a little 'DIS, a little 'dat. But there may be several who happen to join us for a little dip into that Kooky New (to me) Place of Sam's. It goes without saying that I'll be taking that suh-weet souvie mug home!! I intend to collect 4 different souvie mugs during this trip... remember that. We'll be getting some light eats here, but not too many for me because I have a BIG night ahead of me.

... where I'll no doubt get something that begins with 'L'. And I'd bet my last dollar that it'd be wine that starts with 'L'. Again, I'm going to enlist the help of my server at Victoria and Albert's
, who'll probably think I'm completely off my rocker, as I'm sure they have standard selections already chosen for pairings with the menu. But a challenge is a challenge, and maybe they just might be game to mix things up a little. I will certainly find out in 99 days. (You did notice that is now double digits, right?)

In an attempt to hasten things a bit (this trip is steadily sneaking up on me!), I'm going to add yet another day to this mayhem.

After a morning in MK, we'll skip out of Skipper's and head to EPCOT and hang once again with the DIS Crowd. I expect the requisite amount of merriment. The natural place to hang out is La Cava (after we Meet up in the Norway Pavilion to begin) where I'll have Marg #3. I'm going with the generic Margarita for 'M' because I haven't quite decided on WHICH one I'll get. However, I'm leaning towards the Jalepeno. I may flirt with danger and try the avocado, but could also be tempted by the seductive Minty Pineapple, which would actually be a nice fit for 'M'. But not ready to lock and load this one yet.

Remember the Challenge Drinks? 'N' is going to have to fall squarely into this nebulous category. Try as I might, I cannot find a suitable candidate for this letter. If I were to guess which, IF ANY, challenge drinks I FAIL at, I'd go for this one. But you never know. I could surprise all of us and end up with something that tastes mighty fine that starts with 'N'. @pkondz, since you will be there before me, you could scope the 'N" situation out. Has to be in EPCOT, and it can't be beer. Go. And have fun; make good choices, and all that....

'O' will close out the day with something I found called the Outpost Oasis at the Refreshment Coolpost: (Tammie, was it you who helped me with this one?)

From Allears: Outpost Oasis - lemon soft-serve and Grey Goose vodka $10.75.

I'll probably grab this on my way out of the park for the night. A little refreshing desserty kind of drink perfect for stumb... ermm.... sauntering home with.

With that, I'll call it a night over here. I will have to get to the responses I know I'm delinquent with. So sorry, Friends. Been a busy, but fun, weekend and it's not over yet. My plan is to put in a really hard day of studying at my local $tarbucks which happens to be next door to my gym. We'll see what this old bod is still made of. It's probably more than capable of kicking my butt tomorrow, or actually downright killing me.

For L you could just go French and order "le vin". That opens up the choices!!!!

Yes! And since I'll be at Vic and Al's chances are pretty high it'll be French wine (le vin). I haven't decided if I'm doing the up charge for the pairings. Thoughts?? I know you wrote about it when you did your chapter for your dinner at the fancy place on your cruise, and said you didn't think it was worth it.

Not sure how much the wine pairings at V&A are, but I thought at Remy it was far too expensive. I wanted one glass of white for the appetisers and fish course and then red for the meat. But he never came back and in the end I felt that one glass of wine was perfect as I feel bad f I had been too tipsy, it could have made me less appreciative of the food. I really wanted to be in possession of all my senses. Also, a good sommelier should be able to recommend something that goes with a number of dishes, that was the case with my white wine.

Wow that lemon soft serve plus Grey Goose sounds delish! Hope you are enjoying the 4th. We Canucks celebrated on the 1st :)

WOw! That IS crazy! And I really feel for the folks who have to the cocktail regimen. What a huge PITA!And the fact there is so much intrusive (albeit necessary) oversight is a drag.

<whimper>

I'm beginning to see a pattern to your weak spot.

mmmm... had a craving and made some spud salad myself yesterday.
Bought some smokies and tried some wild rice (and pork) sausage. They were good!

Do you use egg in yours? My MIL made the best with lots of egg and buttermilk in it. I've tried for 25 years to duplicate it, but can't seem to get it *just* right.

 Wonder why??

You asked.... :lmao::scared1:

I know!! I hope the weather is nice and warm for us! I LOVE hot weather and this sounds perfect for a warm EPCOT evening.

Finally here and caught up. June has been one heck of a month for me. :sad2: Due to some management decisions and non decisions above my pay grade we are 2 full time people short and with a total shortage of staff - part time and full time, a renovated facility open but I think not completely done a beach in the news daily over the lack of parking and summer camp and having staff take back the swim lesson program, times are tough and days are long. By the time I hire one or two I also lose one or two.

Loving all the plans and the drinking " game " as it is. I am sure if we pool resources we can get all 26 in somehow- even if you just have a sip of some. :drinking1

Double digits !!!!!! My ticker still says 102...... But here:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:is dancing to yours. :dancer::dancer::dancer:party::jumping1::jumping1::jumping1::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

@Poolrat - is your ticker right? Is mine wrong?? Mine says 3 months and 6 days; yours says 4 months and 6 days....??????

Nope Mine was wrong....... Have no idea why or even why I don't even have a slider across it. Oh Well I reset it so it is right now....

Sounds like some gross mismanagement, Pat. Burn out is real.... no chance on finding a new job using your skills, not in swimming per se, but in managing a small staff??

This may actually be a nice way to spread the wealth and make things a bit more managable.

I'm liking the martini slider! And because you set it with so little time... it's going to FLY across it!

(And here we are! The point at which the Contest gets launched. I am in the process of going back and re-locating your previous scores and will be adding those points in. So those of you who stuck it out with me during this hellish, but exciting, journey called Nursing School, get a wee bonus. But not enough that it will automatically disqualify those who joined in a bit late. There MAY be one more small opportunity to earn a few more points from the PTR before I leave. Nevertheless, time to get your brains dusted off and your memories geared up...)

LET'S PLAY....

QUEEN STEPPE'S ALPHABET GAME!!! (Only a very small portion of this actually has anything to do with the alphabet, as you'll see, but it sure sounds great, don't it?!)

Once upon a time there was a Momma Queen who loved her Summer palace called DisneyWorld, loved adventure, and realized she was getting older at an alarming pace. One by one, her children were leaving the castle and, as she yearned for some servants to tend the gardens and dwellings, and have more time to go on her beloved adventures, as well as a way to finance said adventures, she decided to invest in learning a new kind of magic. Knowing that a Good Queen always brings benevolence to her Realm, she also loved to serve her subjects and use healing powers to keep them fit and happy and active. She worked extremely hard to learn this craft and vowed to use her new magic to bring goodness and healing wherever her Higher Power led her. Many hours of acquiring new knowledge, learning how to comfort and calm the sick and dying, and keeping her mental sanity intact were poured into this endeavor, but she was victorious and soon it was time to apply what she'd gained, finding joy and pride in all that had taken place in that 2 years, and looking forward to the future.

Every milestone as large as this needs a fitting Celebration, so the Queen arranged for a Gala at her Summer Palace. For 10 days, she her little Prince and Princess would frolic in the palace grounds eating, drinking and generally making merry. (The King will make a grudging appearance, for he'd rather spend his time frolicking in the forests.) Friends were invited, plans were made, and games were arranged. The entire Kingdom was encouraged to take part in the games to help her celebrate, and in no time at all she and her Band of Merry Travelers were on their way. The game was rather simple, the more points the Queen scored while at her Palace Soiree, the better time she'll have had. Your job, Dear Subject, is to guess how many points the Queen was able to score. So now, without further adieu...

Subjects of the Kingdom:

:jester: Please join in the Royal Games created and sanctioned by Her Majesty Queen Steppe!!!! :jester:

Queen Steppe wants to spend 10 days at her Summer Palace and has many activities planned to keep her and her little royal family entertained. For every successful victory along the way, points will be added to her scorecard (yes, there really is an official Scorecard the Queen will have at hand). Your job is to guess how many points Queen Steppe with accumulate along the way and how. The beauty of this type of merriment is that you get to determine the number of her points BEFORE she even goes. AND during the re-telling of her adventures, you can earn a few more.

There are various categories with various amounts of points in each category she can earn. Your job is to add up all you think she'll get BY CATEGORY and post here. The more specific you are, the easier it will by for your Queen (Your Queen will appreciate and reward conciseness. Be specific on HOW the Queen will amass her points.) READ CAREFULLY!!!!!

Here are her categories:

There are exactly 696 Points available. You have until the day I leave to post your guesses and join in the merrymaking. You must state how the points will be made by category. The good news, is that during the TR itself, the Queen won't have to do much tallying and keeping track other than the photos along the way, and YOU will have already done your work.

Your humble and benevolent Queen thanks you for playing and wishes you all good luck! (I'll also pin or post this on the 1st page of the PTR for easy finding.)

My son also has the BSG vaccine. He got it in Thailand while we were there for NariLoo's birth. I've heard that the vaccine only offers sporadic results and may only make the disease less severe if you DO get it. Which is still good because TB is pretty horrible. But yes, we were told that he would ALWAYS have a positive Mantoux test and that he'd have to go straight to the chest x-ray if he needed to be screened for work or something. He has a little scar on his hip where they injected, but that thing was nasty for weeks. It festered and was raw for a long time. Poor thing.

.

Wow I thought only England performed that torture !! More than one student passed out during the shot !!!Mine was in the arm and I had a scar for years but it has faded with the years and year . Yes Marv I'm OLD!!!:rotfl2:

I will have to give deep and reflective consideration before posting my final answers, however I couldn't pass on this one............

5 points if I do something ridiculous at Yeehaw Bob (we'll see who knows me well)
Since I will be there to influence your actions to a certain extent, you will do AT LEAST one ridiculous thing! 100 bonus points for me if I get said ridiculous thing on video............5000 bonus points for me if said ridiculous thing on video is not posted online for the whole DIS world to see.
