Worst Ending to a Disney Trip EVER! (and other things that happened) - UPDATE 6/22!

Josh likes to pack everything. I've always told him we could carry a lighter bag, but he doesn't like my little drawstring bags I have at home. Then when it's heavy he says it's because I packed a ton of stuff! I usually only put clothes in there during the trip, we had some heavier clothes for night so I think that's why it was heavy some days, but he packed all his chargers, his psvita, kindle etc each day but it couldn't be that :scratchin

Nooooooo. I'm sure it's your clothes that are the problem. The PSVita and Kindle don't weigh a thing!

we could also bring Cheryl and set her loose on the other weirdos. I bet she could distract them with really weird conversations.

Haha. I would LOVE to do this. Except then we'd be on a trip with Cheryl the rest of the time....:crazy2:

TOT is my favorite, too! I guilted my 11yo DS into riding it with me last month, even though he hates it, because older DS and my DH weren't coming down for a couple more days and I didn't want to wait to ride lol. You did great with the low/no wait times for TSMM. We were there over Thanksgiving week and while I did notice wait times were better than before the 3rd track opened, other than the first few minutes in the morning we didn't experience super low wait times any other time of day.
I'm not a SW fan :duck:but your Chewbacca meet is adorable :)

Back from our trip and all caught up!

I'm so jealous of your Chewy meet! Our DHS days were weird this trip...we only did a couple of evenings, and things always managed to go wrong during them. We never made it to any of the meet and greets I wanted to do, unfortunately.

Luckily we had FPs for Toy Story and Tower since we got to the park so late. I love Hollywood Studios, so it was hard for me not being there first thing on any morning. I'm happy to read your report and get to do it all secondhand!!

side note...we ate at Columbia Harbour House on our MVMCP night and I shouted, "Onward to the Sea Tavern" while we were heading there...my family looked at me like I was nuts, but I didn't even bother with an explanation, lol!

What a great morning! I love that it was not so busy and you were getting lots done. Some of my favorite memories are of CMs that remember me or my friends. Some are really awesome at that!

I read all of your report up to this point today! Sounds like a wonderful day at the Studios so far!

Just stumbled upon your report. I can't wait to dig into it over the nice, long holiday weekend!

Haha. Does your 11yo hate you forever now?

It's okay. Non SW fans are allowed on my TR too. Especially since you said that my Chewbacca meet was adorable - thank you!

Welcome back! I hope that you had a great time!!!

I hate it when a day just doesn't go quite right. Even with all the planning in the world sometimes it just doesn't work out. Reason to go back, though, right?

Hahaha. That is so hilarious (and awesome) that you used my dad's phrase! I can't believe that your family didn't immediately understand. It's such a great name! :rotfl:

I can only imagine the challenge it must be to remember all those different people. CMs are so great!!

Welcome and good job! I see that you went to Kidani this June! Did you like it??

Just stumbled upon your report. I can't wait to dig into it over the nice, long holiday weekend!

Enjoy my report and a nice long holiday weekend! I don't know about you but my next vacation isn't until my Disney trip in May. 5 long months of winter away!

I don't know how people visit the parks without doing rope drop. You get so much done in that first hour.
I'll tell you how...when you have a dad that ABSOLUTELY refuses to get out of the d*mn bed! We never hit, not one single one, rope drop in June, even though I had it planned EVERY single day. I would even show them all the posts of how much the other FB June Dis group people were getting done while we were waiting on him but oh well. Very sad. This trip, my dad is not going. I will be at rope drop! Lol.

Sorry to hijack @DexLabDeeDee !

Love the Chewy photos. We missed his meet in June bc...well, just see my post above this one. Haha. But I definitely need to get it scheduled for this June. We did see Kylo and he wasn't even that scary to me. I had heard a rumor that they were bringing back Vader but then that went out the window. Boo hoo.

I see you have 1? 2? knee brace(s) on. I'm afraid I may have to wear mine in June (long story short, I hurt my knee at Disney last June). How did that go? June is going to be rough bc it's so hot! But I do at least plan to wear my skorts every day, so it should work out ok. It's just not the easiest thing to walk in.

Love ToT. My fave ride in all of WDW, with BTMRR (at night) as a close second.

Looking forward to more...

Thank you! I hope that you get to see him in June. My parents just mentioned again over the holiday how amazing that meet and greet was.

I have 2 knee braces on plus KT Tape on my right knee. My right knee is the problem. At some point, I strained the tendon below my right kneecap. It has taken me years to recover. I don't really need the brace anymore but I do wear it in Disney for the extra support. I wear one on my left side because as I get tired on my right, my left starts to hurt and it just works better if they're both braced. I got the cloth only ones so they are really comfortable. It does mean that I have to mostly wear good supportive shoes along with the braces. Both are a bit hot. But most active tennis shoes have mesh that helps with airflow. And the braces aren't too bad with the heat. I don't think it made me hotter. I only wore them in the parks and took them off if I was at the pool or wandering around the resort. It all went really well and my knees didn't hurt too much! I hope you have the same experience!

More is coming - hopefully in the next couple of days!!

Thanks for letting me know your experiences. I bought my mom some of that tape and she never used it so I bet I can get it back from her! The brace I have is the one with metal or something hard in the side of the knee so I might need to buy another one that is cloth only (?) for the trip. I assume that's what you mean when you say cloth only?

I found your TR this morning and found it so hysterical at times that I was laughing out loud.:happytv: I told my DH that I have never read a TR this entertaining before and I've read many TR's over the years!!!:surfweb: I think so many of your thoughts but you actually put pen to paper:thumbsup2! Disney is to all of us on the DisBoards "our happy place" but let's face it, there are many anxious and frustrating things that can happy on a WDW trip and you put such a humorous spin on it all!:rotfl: Thank you for entertaining me on this frigid, snowy day! Looking forward to your next update.

Day 6 Part 2 – Darn, The Empire Found Me!

I forgot to mention in the last installment that my outfit added a fun new game to the ToT experience – What is Under Jenna’s Skirt???

No matter what I did, my skirt insisted on flying up!

No it’s not! (Well, technically it is supposed to happen because of physics but in the laws of public decency, it is NOT supposed to happen.)

I tried to tuck it under my legs to tighten it up but you do go slightly airborne from your seat so it, of course, flew free!

Thank GOD for the barrier in front of the ride vehicle but is Mr. Under Armour trying to catch a peek????

Cheeky! As our British friends would say.

Anyway, let’s move on from my public embarrassment.

On this ToT ride and one other time this trip, there was this weird red light that I think was coming from one of the panels in the front of the ride vehicle. It was incredibly distracting and lit up a few places that should have been dark. It kind of brought you out of the experience. Both my parents noticed and commented on how distracting it was too. Has anyone else experienced this?

We left ToT and went over to RnRC to see the wait time. It was 40min which was a little long for us. (We are totally spoiled in Sept. I feel ruined for other times of the year.) We were discussing the wait and a woman came up to us and said that she had just gotten off the ride and it was actually a short wait. I could see the line outside from here so I was a little skeptical but willing to try. Dad didn’t want to go so Mom and I decided to go and if it was super long we would just hop back out. We didn’t want Dad to wait forever for us.

I pulled out the LINES app and started timing so that I could update the wait for the app and also so we knew how long we actually waited in line. It took us about 28min to get to the car. We played Heads Up again in line. I really think that the people in line around us either get a kick out of it or think we’re crazy. These people thought we were crazy.

Oh well, haters gonna hate. They were just jealous because we were having so much fun.

The ride was fun as usual but we were in the very back and we felt knocked around a little. I was definitely feeling my age when I got off. There was no way I could ride it again right away even if the line was super short.

Mom had FP for the Frozen Show so we decided to grab a quick bite to eat at the Backlot Express.

Guess what?

It was not quick.

Mom got the cilantro chicken salad, Dad got the chicken and waffles, and I got the hot dog with carrot sticks because I knew I would eating French fries later. Though it killed me to order carrot sticks when fries were coming out of the kitchen with every meal!

Since we had the two allergy orders, we waited awhile. I think it was one of our longer waits. I stared at a lot of Star Wars stuff. They had Star Wars cupcakes that I couldn’t get a good picture of because the CMs putting it on other people’s trays did not face them towards me. Can you believe it? One family was not paying attention and I ALMOST reached out and turned their cupcake.

That would probably have been crossing a line but now I kind of wish I had done it…

I wonder what would have happened. With my luck, I would have gotten kicked out of the park or had to buy them new cupcakes. Either option seems plausible.

I did see a lot of BB8 cups go out. And he's round so he takes a good pic no matter where the CMs place him.

Our food finally came out and Mom had to eat fast to make her FP.

And can you see what I got that I shouldn't have gotten?

Yup, fries. The ONE time I try and resist the fries and they find me anyway. Obviously, we were meant to be.

(Don't worry, my husband knows.)

My hot dog was fine but the bun was suuuuper dry. It crumbled into tiny pieces if you poked at it. I just ate the hot dog without it. Mom liked her salad okay and Dad liked his waffles fine. We definitely wouldn’t go out of our way to eat here again but if we end up here, fine.

Mom left for Frozen and Dad and I finished up and then we were off to our FP which was Star Tours!

On the way, we stopped at the Jedi Academy. When we were in WDW in 2014, we watched the Jedi Academy show and it was awesome and super funny. The Jedi Master riffed a lot and it was hilarious and felt really organic. Now, it’s still neat but it is very rigid and not as fun for us watching. Though I suppose it is about the kids and their parents, not us.

I did get some good pics.

CONTINUED IN NEXT POST

Just before the show ended, we went over to the FP line. It was really backed up because there was some confusion with a group’s FP window. They were early and didn’t understand why they wouldn’t just let them in. We snuck past them and on to the ride, though we definitely didn’t need a FP, standby was super short.

As you may have guessed from the title…..

I WAS THE REBEL SPY!

I'm such a sucker. I love being the Rebel Spy and having my face up on that screen!

This is my second time being one. I think that the secret is to really watch the pre-show screens that everyone else ignores.

I was a bit motion sick but Dad LOVED the new Force Awakened scenes and wanted to ride it again. He’s such a grumpy gills that when he gets excited about something, I can’t say no.

So back we go…

While we were waiting to board again, I wanted to test my theory about watching the pre-show and giving them an opportunity to get a good pic of my face. But my dad started to panic about losing his hat. I laughed thinking he was joking because it was literally in his hand but he kept bringing his empty hand to his head and saying that he lost his hat. He actually started to leave the line but I grabbed his hand with the hat, raised it up and showed him his hat. We had a good laugh and Dad questioned whether or not he was losing it.

But I did not get picked to be a Rebel Spy, therefore convincing me that my theory was correct because I didn’t watch the pre-show. Because otherwise, they would have picked me for sure.

For. Sure.

Obviously, I'm the perfect choice because I look sweet and innocent and no one would ever expect me to be the rebel spy.

We shopped a bit in Tatooine Traders and then met Mom. She liked the characters and the sing-a-long portion but she didn’t like the narrators AT ALL. She thought the humor was lame and the modern references were out of place. She said they made a comment about mistaking a character for Justin Bieber. I can understand, that’s not really our type of humor. We’re a bit more wry and dry.

Our TSMM FP was up so we rode it again and I won. Again. Cause I rock.

And am super competitive.

When we walked out, the Green Army Men were walking around. One was standing there and a parent pushed their little maybe 3 year old daughter towards him for a picture. He stood for a second and then said “Fine, just take my pic, don’t ask.” And then he sat down in protest.

The girl giggled and started to walk away but the parent pushed her back because maybe the pic didn’t turn out?? So then the army guy turned her around and asked her “Do you have a job?” To which, of course, she nodded. He said, “Good. $5 for a pic.” And then he held out his hand. She gave him a low five instead. Haha. The exchange went on further and he was hilarious. Though the parents kept pushing her back when she wanted to leave so that was weird. But as you know, not the weirdest parents we've seen this trip.

We had some time to kill so we went over to Muppets 3D. The show before had just started so we saw almost all of the pre-show which I realized that I hadn’t seen all of it before. Which had Constantine which was cool because I think he’s hilarious

I also thought these were clever:

Up next….another “surprise” for my parents…how do you think they're going to react???

I think we all know how they're going to react.
