Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Thanks. I showed her a clip of the ride and she didn't like the look of the animals that were prowling on the sides!! She really doesn't like scary things! I didn't want to take the chance of her being on the ride and start screaming so ive gone with 2 on the flight with rider swap and 2 on the boat with rider swap? This way we get to ride both in the same day and I'll avoid opening day! DH is not too bothered about doing the boat so even if I do it with oldest DD and I think youngest would like it then I can ride again with her hopefully.
I don't think you can use rider swap on the boat ride since there is no height restriction. It's my understanding that you can only use rider swap if a child isn't tall enough for the ride (and not because a child isn't interested in riding but is tall enough).

Hey BC experts! It has been a couple years since we've stayed at our long-time favorite resort the Beach Club. Sadly, we waited for the refurb to be finished and then stayed in a new room (it's awesome!!) but learned that because of some room configurations they still could not put daybeds in every room. So we've had to step away from BC because even though we're only a family of 4, our 2 kids are older now and we very much need that daybed. Monorail resort rooms all have daybeds, so it's a no-brainer for us to stay there. However, in reading a different thread, a couple people seem pretty positive all BC rooms now have daybeds. Part of me wants to believe this, of course! But part of me knows it may not be true. So I thought I'd come to this thread as I know you guys will have the scoop! Thanks!

That's awesome, is she a student at UCF, or is this a college program through Disney? Way to go on annual passes. That would seem the best way to do it if you'll be visiting a lot! That's a good opportunity to try every resort and hotel in the Disney area!

No, she goes to college at Johnson and Wales in Providence. She will be a senior in the fall and her major is Sports and Event Entertainment Management and this will satisfy one of her internship requirements. She actually was offered another internship with the NY Yankees so she will be spending the summer living in NYC and then heading to Disney. We are so proud of her-to have these two world renown entities on her resume should be fantastic for her future job prospects. They are both very selective and we are just thrilled beyond belief that she was accepted for both.

That's fantastic. It's an amazing feeling when you see the fruits of your labor see success through their own hard work.

I would like to have your daughter's life, please.

Seriously, that is absolutely fantastic!!! :cool1:

I would like to add about the uber ride:
Buena Vista Dr, which would be the road taken to Disney Springs, is having a great deal of construction right now at the intersection of Epcot Center Dr. So what might normally be a 10 minute trip can sometimes take 30-40. Cars turning to go to HS block the intersection. Add in a fender bender and it is a headache. Better to be early to your brunch, so give yourself extra time (yes even on a Sunday morning). Have a great time!

They didn't add daybeds to all the rooms when they did the remodel. Some rooms are too small to fit a daybed. Dormer rooms usually don't have daybeds.

Now they did add a fifth bed to the studio rooms at Beach Club villas when they remodeled them. It is small Murphy bed. Maybe that is what they were referring to.

As someone who still has never seen most of the recent Disney movies (including Inside Out, Big Hero Six, Tangled, Brave, etc. Did see Frozen once) I am in no position to throw stones, but you should watch Emperor's New Groove. I think you and your family would enjoy the humor and snarkiness in the movie. David Spade and Patrick Warburton are hilarious in this.

Uh-huh-uh-huh-uh-huh!

:thumbsup2
Love Emperor's New Groove! DD and I could go around quoting it all day. It's brilliant, brilliant, brilliant I tell you!
And you need to see the movies you listed above! Disney's put out some great stuff recently. Frozen's probably my least favorite of them. :duck:

Hi everyone! I just booked YC CL for 7/22 - 7/29. Not sure if I will keep it 7 nights or drop to 5. I was just excited to get the summer discount! Am I reading the first page correctly that the YC CL have been renovated?

Can you please add me to the list. Thanks!

I'm back!!! They were still on one half of the 4th floor when we were there. A CM in the gift shop mentioned they planned to be finished with the one half (food part) of the gift shop by April and then work on the other half. It really was noisy down there, those poor CMs. The new rooms are GORGEOUS! DH and I didn't expect to like them as much as we did. We were in 5174, King bed room SV CL. We definitely prefer BC over YC, but it is a wonderful resort. I am posting a link to my CL review here, https://www.disboards.com/threads/d...-and-questions.3414590/page-424#post-57340176

Summer discounts are out, so everyone get booking!!!!

I appreciate the feedback and information I get from the forum. I'm learning so much about the Beach Club and the latest happenings in Disney. I didn't realize the World of Pandora was that big, thought it was just one ride, but now looking above I noticed it must be more than one ride, so I started looking for more info on it and found a neat link about it: http://www.themeparkinsider.com/flume/201703/5482/

We will be headed to Beach Club June 1-4. I have one disappointment: I didn't make ADR and now can't get a seat at Beaches and Cream after I told my boys about it :headache: but they will be just fine with the walk-up to order ice cream. But I was hoping to do a lunch there for the burgers. Maybe I'll have luck walking up and asking if there were any cancellations when we are there!

You should check Beaches & Cream a few days before arrival and during your stay - people often make last minute cancellations, though that place can be really tough to get a reservation because of the limited size.

Wahoo!!!! I booked our vacation back in January - but have been waiting on discounts to see if we would have to move to another resort.. Was able to apply the current summer discount to our vacation this morning and saved quite a bit of $$$... Still hoping that free dining becomes an option as I think given the way we eat and a now 11 year old on our trip that will save us a bit more. But pretty confident that we will now be returning to the Yacht Club Aug 18-25!

Thanks for the heads up. I'll plan accordingly.

Just a point of clarification.
Disney no longer allows you do just drop nights from an existing reservation. The only way you can get a 5 night stay will be to cancel your current reservation and rebook a 5 night stay, if available not counting the 7 nights you just cancelled. It is possible that a 5 night reservation is not available to book. It is very possible the summer discount will not be available. If at all possible, it is best to make your decision now and book what you want so you are not out of luck

Are you sure about that? We have reservations for Nov. 1-12 but not sure I'll be able to stay that long and assumed I could just drop a few days off the end if I needed to. Thanks.

It is true. Disney changed this a few years ago. I guess it is an attempt to prevent having only single days available when people drop nights here & there. Apparently this is the industry standard so not just Disney that does it. You may have success dropping days, but it is definately not as easy as it used to be.

@lionsmom

I just wanted to add one more thing about Uber.

You really should plan to be in the lobby or nearby to where you want to get picked up. They can charge waiting fees or no show fees. Sometimes they are so close by they you make the request and they call you nearly instantly to let you know they are waiting for you.

Also, you can open the app anytime and see if there are cars nearby without actually having to book. So you can check when ever you decide.

Have a terrific trip!
