Cockroaches at Pop Century Resort

I stay at the Pop Century Resort for 3 weeks every year. And every year, I find cockroaches in my room. My record was 4 cockroaches, 3 in my room and one outside the door. When I saw it the one outside, I stepped on it immediately and crushed it. I left it there and when I came back, it was gone. Last summer, I found 2 total. I killed one and caught the other one live and put it in a sack. It was hanging on the shower curtain which is very slippery. I don't know how it can hang there, but it did. I wanted to bring it home and show people, but my DS11 firmed told me NO, and I was forced to put it in the trash.

Cockroaches are ugly but they don't bite or hurt anything. And they are only "filthy" if they are in a filthy environment. Disney World is scrubbed spotless, so the cockroaches there are clean too. So if you find a cockroach in the room, just kill it and throw it away. Don't waste your time freaking out or changing rooms.

Sorry but if I found a roach in the room, I would be at the front desk asking for a different room.:faint: Then again I'm the kind of person that will see any type of bug and call DH to 'rescue me'. ::yes::
its florida. There are roaches, palmetto bugs, water bugs etc. everywhere. ITs the whole tropical climate things. When I lived in New Orleans, the best houses had bugs in and around them.

The worst though are the lovebugs. they are every where.

Ive never seen a roach or other bug in Disney yet. Maybe luck and that's the kind of luck I'll gladly take. I almost lost my mind when we went to the caribbean and as soon as we walked in the room there was a lizard hanging on the window shade. after it was 'relocated' by DH I returned. LOL. I'm from NYC - I grew up with roaches and waterbugs so big they can move your furniture. Probably why I have such a disgusted hate of them now.

We had a big one in our CL room at Beach Club. I almost died. That sucker was fast!! DH got him though.

Yes you are lucky.
They are Palmento Buts. They are native and they are everywhere

Not sure why I just googled one but now that I did I can't unsee it. Yeah never saw one of those.:worship:

I'm the opposite. I'm from NYC so I'm kind of desensitized by them lol

You may as well not head to any warm climate. They are there and not a thing any place can do to eliminate them 100%

I've been to many many warm climates and haven't come across them. If they're just in the room maybe that's it too as we're never in the room much and are at the parks until close and then back to the room to sleep. Or as I previously mentioned, I'm just lucky and haven't seen them if they are there.

Oh, they are not just in the room. They are all over any outside areas too. No cold to kill them every year. They are abundant. Probably what the rat we saw at BC was dining on :)

We've seen rats too. Skeeves me out.
Yeah, bugs I can deal with, even if I don't like them. But the rat was a bit too much. Even though he was outside and I fully realize outside it their domain and we'll never control rodent/bug populations outdoors.

I had them in my fridge at the Caribbean Beach resort. I called down, they asked if I was on the first floor (I was) and they said they would take care of it. When we returned to the room later, they were gone. But I have to tell you, I always flinch a little when I open those fridges now.

Have DH open it. Or the kid(s). I have no shame. i remember one time DD running into my room that there was a spider on the stairs and she couldn't go downstairs. I asked yeah and what makes you think I'm going to do anything about it so we opened the windows and proceeded to call DH from outside to come in and take care of the 'situation'. :rotfl2:

Most recently we adopted a moose of a black lab puppy who will eat anything that moves or blows past her. Problem solved. :thumbsup2
