If there is stuff on a chair but no people at the pool who own the stuff I would just put the stuff on the ground and take the chairs. You can't save a chair your not using!

that may be ok for just towels, but not personal stuff. people are allowed to get up to go to the bathroom, go to the DSA for a smoke, refill their mug, and obviously actually use the pool... so if I float in the pool for a while, and hubby goes to have a smoke, someone can move our things? one of us has to stay in our seats to "guard" them? what if both of us went to the DSA at the same time? or one went to smoke and one went to refill the mugs?

of course you shouldn't save chairs to go to the park, or go have lunch, etc. but you don't have to remain glued to your chair for the entire pool time. I like to lie in the sun, read, tan, then go in the pool, cool off, return, lie in the sun, read, tan, swim, repeat. what if hubby and I want to take a dip in the pool together?

Then you and your husband are actually there and not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the people who will come down in the morning and put stuff on a chair thinking that it reserves that area for them for when and if they decide to come back. You would be fine, I don't mean people who are actually at or in the pool or maybe at the bar or catching a smoke a quick conversation would clear that up I'm pretty easy going. I'm just not going to allow my 70 year old mother in law to stand or sit on the ground because of some towels or flip flops from someone who isn't actually there.

thanks for clarifying! I've had it happen where I went to refill our mugs, and while I was gone my husband decided to go for a smoke and I came back and he was sitting on a lone chair far from where we were. he said some people were in our chairs. no he's only 62, but has had 4 spinal fusions and can't walk far, so we try to get seats not far from the DSA (even tho I should break those cigs in half..lol I quit) I went over and had a conversation with them (nicely) but at first they weren't going to move because they said basically "take your feet..lose your seat" . I can be nicely persuasive, though. lol

but I totally see your pint. at Disney's Vero Beach resort, there was a lady to got to the pool every morning at "rope drop" saved 2 tables and about 10 chairs. and her family spent most of the day on the beach, but had chairs when and if they wanted at the pool. after 2 days of that, I did move towels off 2 chairs at the end. when she told me they were saved I told her if they all came back at the same time and needed AL the chairs, I would give them up.

(ps did you get my PM? about the fry pan? oops nevermind, I saw your reply)

How do you get from the Poly to the waterparks?

Via Bus:
TL - Take bus to DS and transfer to a bus to TL
BB - Take bus to AK and transfer to a bus to BB

Going back is the same, in reverse.

Cab/uber is much easier with this current bus transfer arrangement.

Seriously what a pain! Honestly, I don't love paying deluxe prices and having sub-par transportation. First this and now double security checks to get into Epcot. There has to be a better way at what we're all paying per night!!

Has anyone confirmed the double security check to get to Epcot I've also heard that when you come down the ramp from the monorail at Epcot you are already inside the secure area.

In terms of the water park buses, that's for all resorts, not just the Poly.

It's possible that things have changed since I read the massive thread about the new security last week. I'll check it again! That thread showed pics of the checkpoint between the Poly and the TTC, and said it was business as usual at Epcot. ETA: yes, the other thread is saying you go through security the TTC and again at Epcot. Someone said there was no checkpoint along the walkway to the TTC earlier this week; that must have been removed.

True, but I still don't think it's cool particularly for the deluxes. (When I stayed at the Swan in June 2013, I also thought it was ridiculous that all of the Epcot resorts shared an MK bus. By the time it reached the Swan, literally only a handful of the many people waiting could fit. This happened multiple times before we quit and took a cab to the Contemporary in order to make EMH. I don't know, I just think if Disney brags about its transportation system, it really should be top-notch.)

Thankfully this practice is no longer. BC/YC share with each other only, Swan/Dolphin share with each other only and BWI doesn't share.

Not Poly, but similar. I was at GF last week and took the monorail to Epcot (GF--> Resort Monorail --> Transfer at TTC to Epcot Monorail). Yes, we were screened twice. Unfortunately I don't think they can easily change the Epcot monorail exit to be in a 'secure' area without a significant reconfiguration of monorail and bus arrival traffic.

Actually the double screening wasn't bad at all. The GF monorail screening was so quick, it was a non-issue. Obviously not ideal, but not a terrible process. This was first thing in the AM, arrived to Epcot shortly after rope drop.

I don't know how it works when you take the walking path from Poly to TTC directly to the Epcot line.

Do they still issue parking passes for those staying at the Poly?

We were there in February, and we were issued a parking pass. The lot was packed when we arrived, and it took a good 10 minutes of driving around to find a spot. I can imagine the parking situation would be a total nightmare without passes!

Yeah, they started this last year sometime. I don't like to jump ugly on Disney changes (change is inevitable), but this one really irks me as it just adds so much wasted time to the process. I would uber/cab given this arrangement, but with our little one that's not really an option I prefer to do. :sad1::sad1:

I agree, changes need to be made sometimes, but it doesn't make sense to make a change that adds so much time/hassle :sad2:.

180 DAYS!! So excited!! I was up at 0500 CST making my ADR's. I got everything I wanted except dinner at Be Our Guest. Snagged a lunch res though.

Sorry you didn't get BOG dinner, but glad you got everything else you wanted :).

Leaving in 3 days:banana: and I'm trying to finalize packing. Do the standard rooms at the poly have make up mirrors? My daughter uses a small lighted one to put in her contacts and I'm trying to decide if I should bring hers along?

I know we have stayed somewhere that had one but can't remember if it was AKL or the Poly...

Your question has been answered, but I wanted to say I hope you have a great trip :wizard:.

We are here right now. It is not too bad if you are not picky about the location and only need one chair. Otherwise, you might be out of luck.

Hope you're having a great time :goodvibes.

We are one week from check in! Very excited to be back "Home" again!

Hope you have a great trip! :wizard:

I agree with smidgy.. I would never touch someone else's personal belongings and just lay them on the ground... Also, how can you tell who the stuff belongs to and if they're at the pool or not?

It would be systematic move on my part by first searching for chairs that looked unused then for chairs that have the least on them like maybe a wet resort towel. If someone left a bag on a chair that was full of personal stuff I wouldnt touch it I would move to a chair with just flip flops or something on them (why wouldn't the flip flops be on the ground anyway, maybe because somebody who isn't there is trying to save a chair with them) also I wouldn't need to know if they were there or not because if they are there i'm sure they'll tell me. I would look at the whole situation if there is 50 chairs with stuff on them and only 25 people in the pool area, chances are there is a chair not being used
