DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Evening dads.

Another day in the office and hopefully an update on my dad
Sending good vibes on your dad mate, all the best.
My DW found out her grandmother passed away Monday so it has been depressing in the house this week
Sorry to hear that Cliff, hope your missus and the DD are okay.
volleyball
Would that be volleyball of the women's beach variety? Well played my man.
Hopefully, we can reach an understanding on future job duties.
Good luck mate, hopefully you get what you want out of the meeting

Looking forward to the weekend.

Thank you for the well wishes. I know the DW and DD appreciate them. Family is not going to do a service, just cremation and a wake.

Hey, dads, it's been quite a while since i've posted, but it's been a very very hectic time. Since Thanksgiving of 2015 we've been through the loss of a brother, settling his estate, retirement, the sale of two houses and the acquiring a house in Clermont Florida, less than an hour's back road's drive from the west entrance of WDW. We've been in Florida since August of '16 and are enjoying it very much. The DW and I do apologize to the residents because since we've settled here, Florida experienced two hurricane landfalls after ten quiet years, now a very dry winter and spring with numerous brush fires. I guess it's that New Jersey mojo following along behind like a black cloud. Of significant news however is that I am now on the waitlist for the first opening in one of two job categories at WDW. Hopefully, soon i'll be working part time at either one of the resort marinas or on one of the passenger boats that move between EPCOT and Hollywood studies with the resorts in between. Can't wait. So, glad to be back and hope to see some of you somewhere on the property.

Sorry about the loss.

Best wishes on the new life in WDW. Always good to have a Dad on the inside.

Congrats on the 3rd job. I'm still hoping to win the lotto and not have any job. Officiating adult league rec sports with alcohol involved sounds fun. Any chance the disdads can purchase a life insurance policy on you with us as the beneficiary? :lmao:

Only if we get to share in those lotto winnings. Alcohol make it much less dangerous for the officals, more so for the players. As long as the softball players can find 1st base from home and don't fall getting there we let them keep playing

Would that be volleyball of the women's beach variety? Well played my man.
Alas, not exactly. All the sports are co-ed, but there is the beach volleyball variety.

Morning Guys, another wet, foggy morning up here but it is Friday. Regional volleyball tournament for DS tomorrow, thankfully they are hosting so no travel involved. He also has the final try-outs for basketball on Sunday afternoon. WE know that he won't be with the Canada Games team but his target is now the U16 team. It's a bit disappointing that we won't be at the games together but we knew it was a long shot and he still should be with his age-class team.

Have a good Friday all. I'm sure Dan will be calling it shortly.

I have often found first base after too much alcohol....

Too much alcohol is probably why you never found second base. ;)

Top O the Mornin Dads! Dan needs to make the call for ending but may I suggest the AbracadBar at Boardwalk. Never been there but it is supposed to solid. We can then head over to ESPN to watch the NFL Draft, NHL & NBA playoffs and maybe a ballgame or two. Hey wait, why aren't we all there doing this for real right now :confused3

DD only has one more week of school and Nursing program ceremonies and graduation next weekend. DS is on his way home for the summer today - surely with a vehicle full of dirty clothes. Going to get fitted for tux tomorrow morning, some yard work, dinner with some of "the soccer parents" and Sunday just laying low with possibly a bit more yard work. Have a great weekend gents!

Sorry the Father / Son thing didn't work out for the games. Enjoy the VB and best of luck to DS on the tryouts.

Well got hosed again at work.
We have a facilities organisation here in town and they are holding their annual chili cook off today. was going to take a 1/2 day and go have some free food any a couple of daddy sodas. Big ol' nope, I'm stuck on call today >:(

Dan need you to go ahead and call if for us good man.

Buddy, there have been nights that I wouldn't have found second with a map, compass and arrows. but you had to still walk the trail.

That's it. Calling it. Work week over. Everyone Out.

Last one in abracadabar has to take Cinderella home. And let me tell ya, she leaves balls alone after midnight.

Happy late Friday. Made it to the gym, worked a few hours, and grocery. Been eating pizza and drinking beer with the family tonight. It's a good day.

Did you say drunken, topless women's beach volleyball? Well, I read that and have a picture now.

::yes::

Good luck to Declan and sorry to hear about Canada games. Maybe next year?

Is there such a thing as too much alcohol to not find 2nd?

Which one is Abracadabra bar at Boardwalk? Been to the pool one and one inside resort.

.

Well, that stinks. When do we get to call it for you?

That's just because she hasn't been dancing with me.

This was his one shot for Canada Games, at least in basketball. He'll be too old the next time the summer version rolls around in 2021. Basketball is U17; he could start playing beach volleyball (u20) or Athletics (u23).

Top O the Mornin Dads!
Norm here's where Abracadbar is. It's in th second floor I think and supposed to be one of the better bars at DaWorld. Theme is magic and magicians so gonna have to check it out next time there.

Happy Saturday. I'm trying to motivate myself to go to the gym, but haven't made it out the door yet. I did the monthly budget and balanced the checkbook to get out of it so far. I have to put in some hours at the church this afternoon, so this is really the time to do so.

Well, that stinks then. I know he plays volleyball, so maybe there is a shot there?

Ok. That's where the old Boardwalk Bakery was and pizza window? Or, is that still on the Boardwalk? It's been awhile since we stayed at out home resort, but we did enjoy getting a pizza to go and eating it outside at the quiet pool. It wasn't the best pizza, but a fun and cheap activity. I'm sure we will check this place out in 2018.

Hello Gents. Well I survived another trip overseas for work (yes Dan, I was in Heathrow but only for 4 hours around lunchtime Saturday, so still no good for a DisDads pub meet up).

It looks like this will be my last time leaving home to go overseas. I've been offered and accepted a position with my company based in my hometown. It will be quite a change for me after 20 years of banging around oil rigs and flying overseas for work. It means a pretty significant pay cut, but I felt it was time to make a change for the sake of my family. I think we're all tired of me being away from home so much. Money doesn't buy happiness, as they say. However it does buy trips to see Mickey, so I will have to see how things go before I can take the whole family back to WDW.

Another week moves on. My DW found out her grandmother passed away Monday so it has been depressing in the house this week. Oldest DD took the news pretty hard.
Sorry to hear of your family's loss. It's always a difficult thing to deal with.

On a brighter note I had my "interviews" for my new 3rd job this week and will be getting the job.
Congrats on the job. Lots of job changes around here lately.

I put that in quotes because the interview consisted mostly in following around the coordinator and drinking beer.
Sounds like more fun than any interview I've done.

Too bad about the Games. It would have been a nice trip our west for you guys. Maybe one day he can get into a different sport.

That sounds awesome! We can do it. Are you paying airfare and hotel? I'll cover the first round. :rotfl:

Cool new avatar, by the way.

Congrats on the job change and more time with the family. Sorry to hear about the pay cut.

It appears there aren't as many Dads posting here as there was in the past. Did someone embargo the bacon?

They all ran away to the other site and Facebook, and now that the other site boards are closed, just Facebook. I'm still here though, which should be more than enough. :lmao:
