Paid Parking Coming to Disney Springs

Looks like Disney has added paid preferred parking to Disney Springs. Hopefully it isn't a sing of things to come. Las Vegas has now started charging for parking pretty much everywhere along the strip, even as the focus has shifted more and more to shopping, restaurants and clubs. Hopefully Disney doesn't see that as a sign that they can charge everyone at Disney Springs.

I don't think they will just because they're trying to attract locals to shop there, and even though a lot of shopping malls do charge for parking I don't think it's the norm in Orlando (correct me if I'm wrong however)

Agree...locals and off siters aren't paying $20 to park there...
...what do they really have to offer to justify that?

That article seems wrong, because the water parks had preferred parking last summer (or has it been removed?)

They did and it included a bottle of water or something but I haven't heard anything about it since so maybe it was removed.

I never go there because it's a mall and I have plenty of them at home

I don't see the big deal with a preferred parking option though

Ok...I gotcha...

I actually don't disagree with "preferred" as well...it was the idea that it expands to paid only that doesn't make any sense. Cause it really doesn't based on what it is and where it is...

...but shortly after this is introduced you'll see calls around here to "get rid of the riff raff"...it seems to happen with everything.

Preferred parking at the springs is probably the most useful of any of the Disney locations given that area is a pretty big cluster you know what at most times

I agree that I don't think a preferred parking option isn't really needed. However I disagree that this is a typical mall. Many of the stores there I don't have at home. My main reason for going there now is dining. They have some incredible options like Homecomin, Boathouse, and more.

I agree...depending on where it is...

The bus stop there is awful...probably the worst they've ever had...neck and neck with the downtown stops before

Those things are gonna be more intriguing to some areas more than other...

...to major metropolitan or sunbelt coastal residents?
No...really nothing that unique.

I'm sure that's true. I can't find a Uniqlo anywhere near me. I also really enjoy the Co-Op. most other things I can find near me.

The dining though is really my main point.

I haven't been in two years or something like that (when the Great Wall ran across pleasure island) but I'm going this year. I just know that area near hotel boulevard is usually congested like nothing else and I would hop in this if I was an off property commuter

Since the road work was completed the area really has opened up and the buses have dedicated lanes. You should be fine in the morning as that's when the place is least crowded.

That's the goal honestly. Sleep in and spend a couple of hours there (get some dining on) and then do AK that night. Staying at Old Key West so it's really convenient
