***** Official * July 2017 * thread! *****

That's all awesome. We aren't close enough to drive so it's a little harder to take the quick trips but we are taking a long trip in Nov/Dec & also planning a Memorial Day weekend 2018. Not sure if we can fit a 4th trip in the year but we're trying. We also have sports & work schedules to deal with. But 3 trips will be awesome.

We went last December & we had a great time. This will be our first summer trip & im nervous how we'll handle the heat. Well more nervous about DH then anyone else. I just want it to go well so we can do more trips.

As far as heat and crowds go I like to book at least one ADR a day. That way I know I will be sitting to eat and that I can cool off

Welcome Tara! I'm from SE MA, just a hop skip and jump from RI.
Let us know what you think about the Swan. DH and I are thinking about staying there in August.

I actually work in Mass (in Avon). I will let you know. I'm sure it will be lovely--I hope we get one of the rooms with a Heavenly Bed!

To much time left to plan. Thinking about cancelling Tepan Edo and changing it to La Hacienda de San Angel. Any idea's?

Hey all!
Chiming in with nothing particular to say. Just excited that our trip (all of our trips!) is getting so close and it's nearly time to start packing! Which reminds me, I guess I do have a reason to post:
We are doing a crazy split-stay this year. I am thinking of trying to pack in stages, as I have read that many who do this find it helpful to have a separate bag for each of the "splits". I'm thinking of doing this (below) -- anyone have suggestions or better ideas?

Bag 1: For myself and DH, AutoTrain overnight + 3 nights Poly
Bag 2: For 3 DDs, AutoTrain overnight + 3 nights Poly
Bag 3: For myself and DH, 4 nights BWV
Bag 4: For 3 DDs, 4 nights BWV
- while at BWV, wash anything that needs it from Bags 1 & 2 so they are fresh & ready-to-go. Before checking out of BWV, wash as much as possible from Bags 3 & 4.
Take Bags 1 & 2 on 3-night Disney Dream (leave Bags 3 & 4 in van during cruise)
After the cruise we have a week at BLT, so bring Bags 1-4 in and wear clean clothes from Bags 3 & 4 at first and then do laundry as needed.

This seems like a LOT of planning, but hopefully it will pay off when we're on vacation.
Now, the challenge will be to see if I have 2 suitcases big enough to hold 3 teenaged girls' clothes/shoes/etc. for 4 days!

I pack in different bags like you mention, though I tend to pack my stuff with my kids' stuff, and leave my DH to fend for himself. My kids are younger than yours, though, so I lay out everybody's clothes everyday. The extra large ziplock backs really help with split trips like this, I find!

We are also taking the auto train and staying at the Poly! What are your dates? My Disney portion of the trip isn't nearly as gloriously complex as yours, but we are combining Disney with gulf islands and a school team event in Philly on the way down, so I can't complain!

12 days until we leave for our 2 week WDW getaway! I can't wait! Today it is time to get those decals on the MB's - just can't wait to be in our happy place for 15 days!!!

My son says he doesn't like the new style of bands but I'm keeping an open mind. He wanted to bring the old style from our November trip. .

We uses the new bands in April and I like the older band better if I am wearing on my wrist. The new band keeps popping off. I finally bought the key chain accessory and put it on a lanyard and decided I was not going back to weearing them on my wrist.

We're at 33 days out so obviously it was time to go through our kids' closets and figure out what shirts they'd be wearing each day of the trip and see if we needed to buy any new ones.

I'm guessing we aren't the only ones that do this, right?

Nope. Day 33 for us and I've spent my morning pulling out shirts for our trip. I have my shopping list ready:)

I am 25 days out and haven't started! Guess i am behind!! I had been waiting to get my Daughter's High School graduation behind us first! Ceremony was last week! College orientation weekend for all of us this weekend! Grad Party next weekend! Then its DISNEY all day every day!!

Same! DH usually is segregated to his own bag because he's a rummager and I like it neat and tidy. Oh well, I'll have to sacrifice for the sake of space efficiency! :goodvibes
When my kids were small I used to pack complete outfits for them in large zip-lock bags and it was great! So easy to just grab a bag each day and dirty laundry went back in at bedtime. Now that they are teens, I don't think they will let me do that.... :rotfl:

We're taking the 7/12 AutoTrain down & check into the Poly on the 13th. How about you? This leads me to another question I've been meaning to ask in general of the July travelers:

Does anyone still do the LGMHs to find fellow Disers? I have one from an old trip I could attach to my day-bag in the parks if this is still a thing.

Last December some people were doing the Mickey Heads. I didn't do it because I just couldn't ad another thing to my list while I was getting ready for the holidays. I forgot until you just mentioned it. Maybe I can do it for this trip.

I need to start getting things ready. I know the kids are probably all set. Might need to get DS a couple more pairs of light shorts. I need to figure out what I'm wearing. Target had cute looser fit tanks that would be great for the hot weather. I need a couple of pairs of shorts too.

Are you guys bringing pool towels? I've read conflicting info of the pools have them or don't have enough. I guess worst case scenario I buy a towel as a souvenir.

Which resort are you staying at? Deluxe resorts have towels at all their pools. Moderate resorts have towels only at their main pools. They don't have them at the quiet pools. And I have no idea what the value resorts do. ;) When we stayed at POR we were right next to a quiet pool. We just called housekeeping and they brought a huge stack of towels to our room. :)

You can include us! 7/26 - 8/1 AKL - Kidani

We are taking the autotrain down on 7/5, but don't arrive at the Poly until 7/22. Looks like we will miss each other. My big kids have no qualms letting me dress them in Disney, which would never happen at home!

That's all good to know. We're at Coronado this trip. Thanks for the towel info.
