Flight of Passage + People of Size = Disappointing

Have him try. It is not just calf size. In order to tell if one fits there would need to be a complicated algorithm taking into account height, weight and roundness, leg length, calf size, shoe size....it is really a combination of many tings and how all of those things fit together. After riding a few times and watching others ride it does seem to be very few that won't fit, much like seven dwarves mine train.
I always feel cramped on that SDMR

Wow! That seat looks small. I am 5'5", serious runner and my weight fluctuate between 109 and 115, so no worries for me. My son is a high school football player - 5'11" and 240. I don't think he can fit in there. Is anyone willing to provide their height and weight and if they fit? If this is too sensitive, I am sorry!!! I just don't want to get his hopes up!
I'm 6'4" at probably around the same weight or maybe a little less and I fit just fine. My height is also more in my legs.

I posted this on opening day, but I figure it will help some people here. I am 6'6" 315 pounds. Long legs, XXL shirt, 42 waist, size 13 shoe. I was able to ride FoP with no problems. It took me and a CM a while to figure out positioning on the test seat, but once I was inside, there was no issue at all. It was quite uncomfortable at first but once the ride starts you really do not even feel any sort of discomfort.

Out of curiosity - have there been any recent studies or data on how many this is impacting now that the land is fully open? I rode twice and did not see anyone not able to fit and I spoke with a number of people who also said there were no issues in their rooms when they rode.

Don't get me wrong, I still there there should be an area in at least one theater with seats that are even more accommodating and potentially for wheel chairs for people that can't transfer can go (maybe those don't move like the other theaters but you can still get some of the experience) - just wondering if perhaps during the previews/testing phases they were able to figure things out and adjust something as, at least anecdotally to what I have seen, seems to be less of an issue than it was during the previews (but not sure if that is reality or not due to small sample size)

This happened to us when the land was fully open. It was Memorial Day week during the Dis 20th events.

I just don't know how they would do that. It couldn't be the same theater because I can guarantee people would get sick. I feel it would require the construction of a new theater with stationary or modified seats, I don't see Disney doing that any time soon, especially as it looks like more and more people are able to ride with a bit of coaching and adjusting on the seats.

Why does it need to be so complicated? They just need to make one or two of the same kind of seats, but with larger proportions for bigger people, and they can just remove an existing seat to drop one in. One or two per row depending on how many people are affected.

I also don't get those people who are saying it wouldn't be safe for everyone to modify the ride. Baloney. To just remove a seat or two in order to add bigger ones would not make it less safe for smaller people or kids, since they would still have the smaller seats.

Seems like a simple solution to me and I don't understand why we are still discussing the complication of fixing this, or the safety aspects.

I am far from being an engineer or understanding the laws of physics and mechanics, but creating a larger vehicle or a modified vehicle to fit bigger/different proportions than what is already done would require a redesign to that specific platform. The entire platform moves not just the individual seats, so I don't think it's as simple as just installing a larger vehicle.
As to people who cannot transfer and would need a stationary platform, again, I'm sure they would get sick with the current movie since it is design to work in sync with the movements of the ride vehicle
I'm not saying it's impossible just not as easy

I am not an engineer either but I have seen universal make adjustments in their rides. I'm sure or hope Disney will do the something here..

you can't compare FoP to Despicable Me or Jimmy Fallon if that's what you are referring to. The screens are completely different.
Like I said before it's not impossible to do but not as easy
No the two Harry Potter rides and pretty sure the mummy also has different size seats. again as you have said. not easy but not impossible.

Just back - thought I would provide another data point as of 6/6. I'm 5"2 and just under 300lbs, busty, lift weights so have fairly muscular calves + circulation issue in my left leg so it is larger than my right. I FIT! Back restraint was no issue - even though I'm short my chest was well above the front support, and I wasn't even aware of the back restraint really. Right leg had no issues - didn't even feel the restraint. Cast member did come over to me and maybe gently pushed the left restraint? I did follow some suggestions from here - scootched all the way forward, went up on tip toe so that it hit lower on my calf (not the thickest part).

I didn't see the tester seat (it was at night and my teenager was hustling us into the line because it was record-breaking short due to all the rain that day), and I wasn't that worried about it - I would have stood in line with my kid anyway, then just bowed out at the end if I didn't fit. I warned her that I might not be able to ride, so she wouldn't be surprised if I had to leave the room. As it turns out, if I hadn't fit the "walk of shame" would not have actually been that bad - only 16 people per room and the rest of the line can't see you.

Its a great ride! The position wasn't at all awkward, even with my short arms, no pressure on my knees at all. Completely forgot there were any restrains once the ride started.

I'm 5'2", so I like reading this! Thank you for sharing!

Thanks for posting this. I am close to this size and a former dancer with the calves that come with it, so it gives me hope that I might fit!

Thanks so much for sharing! I go in December and hope I fit to!

Thanks for sharing this insight! We are VERY similarly built it seems! You have given me some hope that I will fit next week when we go and have FP+ reservations.

Lucky you! I can not wait to see the new Pandora world. Let us know how much you loved the ride.

Folks, I just want to report that I visited Pandora during EMH last weekend and I was able to ride! Make no mistake about it, at 5'6" and 299 lbs, I am definitely not a small guy. My waist/gut is 55" around.

It was frustrating when I tried the test seat because the CM said I was "right on the line" between the green and the red. Of course, my response was, "So I shouldn't even bother waiting the 90 minutes in line then?" Her response surprised me. She said, "Personally, I really think you'll fit just fine." It seemed like she wanted to tell me that I would definitely fit, but perhaps the CMs were instructed not to give anyone any guarantees to prevent future arguments if things don't work out on the ride vehicle itself.

It the end, it turned out that the only thing the ride CM had to do was ask me was, "Can you lift your knees up towards your chest?" I barely lifted my legs a quarter inch and he immediately said, "you're all set." I honestly didn't even feel the back brace close against my back. I only felt the padded leg restrait touch the backs of my legs because I was wearing shorts. The skinny guy next to me actually had more problems than I did.

Great ride too, BTW!

We got back on the 11th. Unfortunately I didn't get to ride because it was down over 3 hours the day we were there. My son waited out the down time by planting himself on a rock directly next to the test seat. I gave up and headed back to the hotel. Anyway, I did try out the test seat and I was in the green. For reference, I'm 5'3'', 244#s with 18.5 inch calves and 53" around my hips. I wear size 20 clothes. I definitely felt the calf restraints. Not uncomfortable, but not much room for movement either. We go back next month. I have 3 fastpasses so I will definitely give it a try.

I'm so sorry you didn't get to ride! With that said, thanks for giving your dimensions and letting everyone know you would have been good to ride. You are slightly smaller than me weight wise, but your calves are EXACTLY the same measurement as mine so that gives me even more hope to get to ride later this week when we arrive. Thanks again!

Sorry you didn't get a chance to ride. :(

I really appreciate you posting measurements. I have been worried about calf size, and it sounds from your experience that this should not be an issue for me -- fingers crossed!! Thanks! :)
