Tipsy is as Tipsy Does - A February '17 Dining Adventure - Complete 8/15

I am truly enjoying this and I am thinking if I experienced the parks as you do I definitely could not ride the rides!! It would not be pretty. I guess the strategy is ride then imbibe!
Thanks so much. For us its ride, imbibe, ride, imbibe. We find if you keep a good mix between the two it balances itself out :-)

So strange. I do question what she thought would happen if they hit the BAYYY-BEEE.
One only knows. I must have missed all the news reports on plastic chains taking bayyy-beee's out :P

Ahh so cool! I'd love to meet Brer Fox.
It was a pretty awesome discover. I don't think we'd ever seen either fox nor bear before.

I think you have started a new trend "Drinks around AK"-bye bye World Showcase, this is THE new location for adult indulgences!!
:-) And now you know why AK is my favorite park. The food and drinks totally eclipse WS these days. Hope you don't mind if I trademark Drinks around AK :D

That is truly odd about the appetizers not being AP discount eligible. I wonder if that is new because we also enjoyed the Ahi Tuna Nachos and sushi roll along with adult beverages AND we got the AP discount. This was a year ago so, who knows, maybe Y&Y has changed the discount application. :confused3
Yeah it was very strange. I knew we'd only get a 10% discount and it didn't apply to alcohol, but why apps were excluded was beyond me. Our hostess was a little too eager for us to earn Landry's points, so maybe that is why she said that. Either way, you clearly got the better deal. :drinking1

Between the "brother" incident and the "baaaaaa-be", I'm just literally laughing out loud. And after those drinks in the afternoon, I'd have gotten on any sort of bus, too!
Thanks. Though just be sure not to ever mix brother and "baaaaaa-be" in the same sentence again. I'm still creeped out from the photopass incident. :-)

I may have turned you onto those, but I haven't had them since! I am dying to get back to have some more. Apps are the way to go at Yak and Yeti. I haven't been there in so long but I am determined to get to Satuli Canteen and Nomad's/Tiffins in the meantime.
Blasphemy!!!!! The godmother of tuna nachos must get back there soon (though I'm totally with you on doing Nomads/Tiffins first)

am working on getting Justin to be more and more adventurous with his food choices.. but darn it, I wish he had your palates! You all have such adventurous tastes and I love it! Nary a Cosmic Ray's burger in sight!
You'll just have to ditch Justin and hang with us sometime :-) Even better you can both come and we'll have Casey school Justin on all the foods he is missing out on :P

911!! BEER IN THE MK!!! Even if it isn't the best of options, that's still not a bad price for MK!
Hopefully they will improve the options, but in the meantime we'll be drinking up either way.

Like father like daughter?!
Ya think? She's a chip right off the Jason block.

Ack! I've been reading some, but I'm so behind. I'm going to go with, I've been busy :p
Welcome to the busy club. I've fallen woefully behind in getting this done!

What a bummer with the croissant donuts! I thought these looked good but they were basically full of things I'd never eat. We had the flat bread here, which was good, but cold :confused3 I think it would have been much better warm. The booths were kind of in a weird spot I thought, being mainly grouped together. But I was excited because 1. It was our very first WDW visit and 2. I'm so excited for Food and Wine this was like a teeny intro :rotfl2:I loved the art photo opportunities, they were fun, and we watched one of the painters on the stage. Otherwise, there was a lot of art for sale and that's not my thing, because I'm poor. My fiance did get a copy of the Herb Ryman Epcot art they were selling.
Yeah, I have no idea why they put all the booths up on the same spot. We certainly didn't know that and were expecting a set up much similar to food and wine or flower and garden. And you are totally right on the art front. It was everywhere and seemed to repeat a lot. Art isn't our thing either so we certainly didn't appreciate it.

I can eat pasta no matter the weather outside :p But in seriousness (which seems to be hard to come by around here ;) ) that looks pretty delicious. I showed my fiance and he was offended by the feta. I really like feta for being a fairly picky eater lol. I'm with you on the butter and coffee thing too. Maybe that's a boy thing... my fiance doesn't even drink coffee and was like, oh that sounds good. :confused3
I'm with ya on the pasta. I'm a good Italian girl who knows there is a pasta for all weather types :-) I thought the feta was a bit odd at first too, but it added some saltiness that you wouldn't have gotten from other cheeses.

I really know nothing about falafel, but it looks good and I keep reading good things about the one here. I liked the themeing at Skipper's and I'm such a hypocrite, I was like different cuisine - neat! And then I got the Tastes Like Chicken dish because I'm not an adventurous eater :rotfl:And was also a teeny bit upset with my fiance because he eats more than me, but ordered the pasta dish that I wanted to get, and I didn't want to get the same thing.
You should definitely try some falafel if you like chick peas. I had them for a the first time 10 or 15 years ago in NYC and they are still the best ones I've ever had. But Skippers are a very close second :-)

I often fall victim to Jason ordering what I want then feeling compelled to get something else. Now I know that man has never once altered his order for me, but I always feel compelled to ensure we try more than one thing.

So Jasmine has to wear outfits with more coverage, but Tarzan is okay? :confused3
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Who the heck knows?

We're going to Yak and Yeti too. How silly about the discount. I'm trying to convince my fiance we should share apps, mostly because I look at the menu and want 3 or 4 of them :) I really want the egg rolls and green beans, because they look delicious and I love fried green beans. I think fiance will want the pot stickers, because I've turned him into an addict (and not even with good ones - ones from Noodles & Co). And the shrimp looks like a dish I used to get an a restaurant that's now gone. I love shrimp :)
Most definitely go the app route at Yak n Yeti. That is really where they seem to shine and the apps are all so good.

Love your report! I seriously do hope you made it to Epcot because, after all, we need to know where you will be eating & what made the cut :D
We shall see....

Yak & Yeti is always incredible. I enjoyed that fried green bean appy years ago but so many other neat goodies to try since. I agree, the dim sum is just OK. Can't miss or mess with the fried wonton dessert. Stuff of legend.
Yeah, we came to the Yak n Yeti party late but really enjoy it. I'm a sucker for all things Asian cuisine so its a no brainer for me.

@kastoney you always meet all the best people in AK. Wild dingo lady and out of it photo pass dude. Your encounters made for one incredible update. Definitely hooked :thumbsup2
Thanks Sam!!!!!

is the dining plan worth it
We've only done the dining plan once, but for us it wasn't "worth it." We tend to like table service vice counter service and like to share food so the dining plan really isn't for us. Plus with our tables in wonderland card we can save 20%, including alcohol, which is most definitely worth it for us.

I love your reports and the confidence of your daughter? That's awesome!
Thanks Amber! Casey most certainly does not lack self confidence. Trying our best to ensure we keep it that way :-)

I'm curious as to whether you got to Epcot on that bus...but yeah after three of those drinks not sure I'd even care....
I'm not entirely sure we cared either, but it certainly made for an interesting ride.

But clearly it has to be with your brothers arms/hands on Dinosaur. I need to ask him what the hell he was doing and then tell him what I think it looks like he's doing :rotfl:
My guess is whatever he was doing and whatever you think it looks like he is doing, are one in the same :P He may be 38 years old but I'm pretty sure Chris and Ricky are likely more mature than him.
Next I must move on to your son Jason :rotfl2:
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Funny aside we went to test drive new cars for Jason a few years back and they salesman asked if he was even old enough to drive. Needless to say, we did not buy that car.

And finally, I remember when you were getting on that Epcot bus! I was a tad concerned for you reaching your destination too! I thought I was going to have to call the Orange County sheriff to put out an APB on you guys.
Ah, thanks for having my best interest in mind. In our intoxicated states, I knew you were the only one we could count on if the bus driver decided to go all deliverance on us :-) You're a true full service travel agent.

Wait, is this a dining report? Oh yeah your food looks good. No really, all of us enjoyed Y&Y last Nov except Chris but he doesn't count since he doesn't like anything so I'd love to go back. We might do TH next time even though the boys aren't big on character meals anymore, but I do love the food there and it's been a few years. I also love Nomad Lounge being in AK now, such a great place to stop, relax, and have a drink or 3 ;)
Dining, what? Clearly I take some liberal license with the notion of "dining" :-)

If you do Tusker go for a late breakfast if you can. We love the 1045 times so we can get breakfast and lunch all in one.

I don't know how I got so behind, Sanaa yum! Thanks to your reviews we tried this in February and loved it!! The bread service is delicious.

Yak and Yeti appetizers look so good. I have been eyeing up the tuna nachos for some time now, one of these days. Looks like a fun day at AK. Great character meets, fun photo poses, and adult beverages, what's not to like lol!

Oh no I hope you all didn't end up heading out of state on the charter bus, I am anxious to hear the ending:rotfl2:
Hi Caroline!!! So glad to hear you all loved Sanaa as much as us. We were just talking this weekend about how next time we'll just go to the lounge and just eat bread instead of everything else, because its that good.

You should most definitely go for the nachos next time you are there. No chance they will disappoint.

Lovely review of Yak and Yeti. I tried all the appetizers you ordered and have to agree that the dim sum basket was bland. It certainly wasn't bad but not great either. However, we do have some great authentic Chinese restaurants that specialized in dim sum where Chinese people go so I am pretty spoiled.

I really hope that bus took you to Epcot not somewhere else. :scared:
Yeah, we are pretty spoiled on the chinese front too. We have an authentic sichuan place that we love, so it spoils us for all things dim sum.

All I can say is brace yourself. I've gone through it once with my 17 year old, which gave me far too much grey hair, and about to go through it again with my almost 10 year old.
Having once been a teenage girl myself, I'm thinking we may be best served by locking her up now :-) Given that Jason and I started late in life to begin with, by the time Casey is 17 the grey hair will be all white for us :P

Yet anther thing to put on the list of stuff that is OK at Disney, but outside that bubble, police would be involved.
Even in disney, I'm not sure police shouldn't be involved. Tarzan is just plain weird.

I desperately want to get back to AK and try this. Spiced rum is my favourite liquor and I enjoy Pangani punch, so it sounds awesome. I have the recipe for it and I keep meaning to try it myself sometime. Speaking of that, have you ever seen the website below? It seems like something you could make use of... :rolleyes1

http://www.partythroughtheparks.com/
If you love spiced rum, than you would love Jason's drink. I'm more of a cocount rum girl, so I didn't appreciate it as much as he did.

And have we seen party through the parks??? We write it :rotfl2: Seriously though, we love the site

Why else would they put couches there?!
Clearly no reason other than for sweaty park people to sit on them so children could lay on the later :-)

I'm so sorry. Having experienced two very painful losses in the last couple years, I know how those memories tend to sneak up on you
Sorry for you too. As you know you can prepare for the milestones, but the unexpected moments tend to be the hardes.

Casey has a way more sophisticated palate than I do… Confession-As much as I loved reading your reviews of Tiffins, Skipper's Canteen and Yak & Yeti, I would NEVER eat at any of them. Though I may actually try Sanaa one day just for the bread service.
For confessing your sins, I assign you penance of eating at each of the restaurants you listed. Definitely give Sanna bread service a whirl and it can be your gateway drug to the awesomeness that is AK. :-)

Hi Kari! Your trip looks so fun! That fried won ton dessert at Yak and Yeti's is one of my absolute favorites! It's soooooo good!

You would be soooooo fun to drink with! I love how you enjoy your cocktails as much as i do!
Thanks Jenny. Love me some Y&Y wontons too. Especially with copious amounts of cocktails (says the woman downing wine while typing) :drinking1

Just catching up on all the DRs now from when I last was reading at the end of April! I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend, Jenn. Getting a tattoo in her honor is very special. I would have been crying, too
Thanks Teresa.

e did Tusker House a few weeks ago for the ROL package because I wasn't sure if my sister and my bff would like Tiffins, and didn't want to risk it if they didn't, and then have to hear them complaining about the food & the cost. I thought Tusker House was the safe bet
After the tails of your trip, I'm sure Tusker was most definitely the safe bet. With your crew who knows what sort of drama Tiffins would have ensued.

Don't you just love the Landry's card? On this past trip a few weeks ago we were able to get in to Yak & Yeti for lunch, and Rainforest Cafe for dinner on a Saturday night. Y&Y had about an hour wait, and RFC a two hour wait, but I don't think we waited more than 10 minutes at each place. Well worth the cost of the card! I absolutely adore those Ahi Tuna Nachos. So so yummy! You guys are amazing! Three drinks and I would have had to been carried out of AK, let alone go to Epcot! Can't wait to see if you made it!
I do love the Landrys card. We usually only use it at Yak n Yeti, but it is so worth it. Wish we had some landrys places by us so we could make more use of it.

All caught up and this update did not disappoint!
Thanks Tracy!

I think this should be a mandatory beer-drinking activity. Just sayin'.
I think it should be a mandatory drink activity regardless of the alcohol of choice. I can just see us now trying to act out a pinot noir or a Shofferhoffer or a dole whip with rum :squirrel:

Wiggly really is what you go for in a good Wonton soup, isn't it?
If you're 5 about to turn 6 it most certainly is :upsidedow

:rotfl2::rotfl2:
Tarzan looks like he hasn't hit puberty yet
Agreed. And I also think he may be homeless :-)

Vodka and watermelon sounds like a perfect combo. I always forget Dawa bar is there.
It really is quite good. Of course I'm a sucker for all things watermelon flavored.

These look delicious! All of the Chinese places around here put about 2 measly chunks of pork and way to much veggies. Your whole Yak & Yeti meal looks great. That seems like another place that their appetizers are the winners.
Yak n Yeti definitely excels in appetizers (and egg rolls with copious amounts of pork).

Holy appetizers! Everything at Yak and Yeti just looks amazing. I am dying to try those nachos one day.
You most definitely should try the nachos Best thing on the menu, wontons included :-)

This is hilarious! Safari Amber would be my beer of choice there so I'd have to think of something creative for that.....
I want to see this in your dining report in August :P

I loved the fried green beans! I agree they don't really taste like green beans but give me anything deliciously crunchy with a yummy dipping sauce and I'm in!
Yeah I'm totally with you. Dips and just about anything to dunk in them are my achilles heal of eating.

That looks good too... too bad you weren't 100% with it. Bill keeps bugging me to go out for authentic Dim Sum but am still a little nervous to try it.
You should definitely try it. We've done it here in DC and in NYC and the food is always amazing and pretty "normal" all things considered. Jason and I did dim sum for the first time ever in New York several years ago and we had no idea what we were ever ordering which made it all the more fun. Good news is everything was delicious. Better news is it was also dirt cheap.

Can't wait to try out Nomads in August!
I hope you love it as much as us. One of my most favorite places in all the parks.

There is a restaurant here that makes a version of that and it is soooooo good! I can eat it as my meal.

The dessert looks so tasty as well! Both are on. My radar for our trip in September!
Apps for meals are a thing of beauty in my world :-)

We encountered a band at Epcot doing a "parade" this year. We had just come out of the Character Spot and they were going through, playing extra loud, because hello, that's what you do when you're in anything like a tunnel. My high school goes to WDW and marches at MK every 4 years. I was a sophomore when we went...21 years ago (ugh). In a few years, my godson should be marching, and you bet I'll be there cheering him on!
Sounds like quite the "parade." Our high school did the same thing every four years, though my band trip to disney was a bit north of 21 years ago. :P I don't think my brothers school has any rhyme or reason to where they go each year, but they marched in the Macy's parade this past year so that was cool. And even if my brother packed his marching shoes up years ago, like your godson, I'm always there cheering him on :-)

I have a similar mortifying story. My husband and I are a whole 9 days apart. So since we were there the week before my birthday, we both wore birthday buttons. We walked into a store, my husband pushing our son in the stroller, and one of the CMs working said happy birthday to both of us...and asked if we were twins. :rolleyes2 My husband stopped wearing his button after that.
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Clearly disney needs to work on either segmenting families accurately or just not even guessing who is related to whom and how :P

I LOVE those egg rolls! They really are so good.

I hope you get to Ep-A-cot! At least if you're kidnapped, we know they didn't keep you long!
There was quite the intense negotiation, but you are correct the kidnapping wasn't too long.

Yum, I have gotten the shrimp before but not the chickpeas. Will have to try that next time. I do like chickpeas. One of the few healthy things I like, so I should probably eat them more often.
Yeah you and me both. I'm not always a huge veggie fan, so one must get behind the healthy beans when we have a chance :-)

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
OMG this is too funny.
You should have been like, "Come here, son!" and plant a big kiss on his lips. Actually you could have had a lot of fun with this.
I understand the mortification though.
Drinks were definitely in order!!!
If only I could have thought that quickly to have done that, it would have been hilarious. i'll have to prepare myself better for the next time someone thinks my husband is my son :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Yum, looks so good!!! I think my DH had the ahi tuna salad instead of the nachos but these look infinitely better.
Oh yeah, nachos beat salad any day of the week. You and Steve should definitely give those a whirl. I think they would be right up your alley.

Your brother's pose...is. awesome.
Awesome is a good word for it :-)

:rotfl2:Your humor is hilarious. I wish I could be as funny when I write.

Oh and I love your HM wristlet.
Ah, thanks so much.

Hi Kari! I've been very busy lately between my new job and all the end of school year stuff with the girls. This weekend was their dance recital. I posted some pictures in the DIS Dads club, so I thought I would send that link to you. I figured you might enjoy seeing the pics :)

https://www.disboards.com/threads/d...of-the-disdads.3358596/page-620#post-57720559
I hope the new job is going well for you.

Love the dance recital pictures. I can't believe how big both your girls are. Casey has her dance recital next weekend, so I'll be sure to post some pics. She's been taking hip hop this year and they are dancing to can't touch this, so it should be a good time :-)

Would we make it to Ep-A-Cot? Would we survive? Would a dingo eat our baby?

So much drama, so much intrigue, you'll have to stay tuned.....

We had the same bus the other day leaving Epcot heading to AoA. We were terrified and Mike didn't even want to get on it. LOL. We did get on, and we made it to AoA safely. But it was soooo funny.

We had the exact same feeling. It certainly didn't seem like something we should have been getting on.

5,000th Post

Before I get to the food and our further tipsy adventures, this post officially marks the occasion of my 5,000th post on the DIS. When a pregnant and morning sickness laden me joined the DIS back in 2010 when we were planning an anniversary trip to the one place I felt I wouldn't mind not drinking in (believe it or not), I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Now 7 years and 5,000 posts later I'm so grateful for the advice, friendship, and of course all of you. Thanks to you all for journeying with me and the fam on our adventures and dealing with my "humor," sarcasm, hatred of mushrooms, and love of food and tipsiness all in the name of disney.

Now back to your originally scheduled programming.....

We'd last left off slightly tipsy from our Animal Kingdom adventures and found ourselves looking at this monstrosity parked in the bus depot to take us to Ep-A-Cot.

Had we been slightly less tipsy we may not have gotten on, but with this gang we were willing to take a chance.

Clearly some of us were more concerned about it than others. Speaking of concern, this was the bathroom.

Now I have no idea why they needed to pad lock the door and I can only fathom what they had inside the bathroom that they needed to keep us away from, but this of course did nothing to dissuade my concern. Thankfully I was texting my dear friend @ariane37 who assured me she'd report us to authorities should the bus driver decided to harvest our organs :-)

Somehow, organs intact, we made it to Ep-A-Cot and had to take a picture to document our survival of what was clearly a near fatal incident.

From there our adventures included a bit of time travel

and what was supposed to be a race around Test Track, but it was closed due to lightening. Side note earlier in the week frozen was down when we were supposed to ride it and they said we could use our fast pass on test track instead. Well this time when test track was down we learned (after a long, lengthy, and still tipsy argument with some poor Norwegian girl) they do not have reciprocity with frozen. I call BS and a tier 1 should be a tier 1 and am now reminded that I meant to email disney with my indignity. I'll have to pour myself a glass of wine and get right to that :drinking1

Rant over we headed around the world showcase toward our dinner reservation. On the way Jason brought a whole new meaning to the kodak picture spot

and Matthew and Casey channeled their inner Screams and Mona Lisa's at the Festival of the Arts.

Not to be outdone, Jason couldn't help put join in.

We finally made it to our destination: Via Napoli and it was none too quick because we were in need of some more adult beverages. You'll be shocked to know my notes are a little sparse, but from the pics I can at least tell Jason got some beer

I got some wine of the red varietal

And if I recall Matthew got something boozy.

To help soak up all the beverages, we started with the Fritto di Verdura aka Fried Veggies.

Much to my chagrin there were some dreaded mushrooms in the mix, but that aside we enjoyed some wonderfully fried artichokes, asparagus, eggplant, and zucchini in their delicious marinara sauce. Apparently the sauce was so good that Casey quite literally licked the bowl clean.

For pizza (cause what else do you order at Via Napoli) Casey and I of course shared our beloved Carciofi.

For those who haven't read about this pizza the other 10,000 times I've eaten its white pizza with artichoke, fontina, mozzarella, and truffle oil to which we also add arugula. To say this is the best pizza ever is an understatement and to say I would just about kill for some now is even more of an understatement. :-)

For the boys Matthew got the Capricciosa which is
eggplant, artichokes, ham, mushrooms, and mozzarella.

He ordered this sans ham and while we share a familial love of artichokes we do not share the similar hatred of mushrooms, so I decided did not try this.

Jason ordered his perennial favorite the Broccolini.

This is fresh diced tomatoes, broccoli rabe, fontina, mozzarella, and Jason added the ham Matthew removed from his pizza. I didn't try this one either, but since he keeps ordering it I'm gonna go with it was good.

As usual per Via Napoli, the service sucked (we waited at least 15 minutes after being seated before we saw our server), it was chaotic and loud, but they are serving some of the best pizza I've ever had so I can overlook all the shortcomings in the name of amazing food. :-) With our Tables in Wonderland card we saved $29.95.

After dinner we meandered our way back through the world showcase again and tried our luck to see if we could get on frozen yet. Despite playing dumb, they still wouldn't take our fast passes for test track so we drowned our sorrows in a little bit of Viking Coffee for Matthew (Kamora Coffee Liqueur and Baileys Irish Cream)

And some Aquavit for Jason and I

Clearly the day had caught up with me as I was not only looking much worse for the wear, but I also didn't think the Aquavit tasted like rubbing alcohol. So all in all a good stop.

We did eventually use our Test Track fast pass where the silliness of my trio picked right back up.

Casey is somewhere under all those hands. :-)

We eventually made it back to AKL (thankfully this time on a regular bus) and said our sad goodbyes to Matthew who was waking up at o dark thirty to head back to Texas. Thankfully, we still had 4 more days left so there is more food and tipsiness to come.

Up next, we travel to the beach for a German beer????

but with this gang we were willing to take a chance.

That was a hilarious photo!

wonderfully fried artichokes, asparagus, eggplant, and zucchini

Well I guess that's proof that you can indeed deep fry anything and it will taste pretty good lol

As usual per Via Napoli, the service sucked

This is too bad, because the food looks amazing. I really want to try this place but I ended up cancelling our ADR there because I just had too many.

I understand that Future World and World Showcase fight bitterly every night about which is the better part of the park, so the lack of Norwegian accommodation does not surprise me.

Soarin' was down when we tried to use our fp in May and we were able to use the fp for Test Track. It is ridiculous that they wouldn't let you ride Frozen. It isn't even a good ride.

Thankfully I was texting my dear friend @ariane37 who assured me she'd report us to authorities should the bus driver decided to harvest our organs :-)

This almost made me snarf the adult beverage I happened to be drinking as I was reading this. Awesome update, as always. So glad you made it to Ep-a-Cot with all your organs intact since we know you'll be needing your livers for the rest of this trip, LOL!

And congrats on your 5,000th post. That is seriously impressive! Keep 'em coming :-)

"Stay in your seats ladies and gentleman, Mickey has nothing to hide" :rolleyes1

That's what good friends do, they make sure you keep your organs! LOL you sent me a picture of the padlocked bathroom; I was at my Universal TA training and I was showing my co-workers going, "I don't know what the *%#* is happening to my friend but I sure as hell hope she gets to Epcot!"

I call BS and a tier 1 should be a tier 1 and am now reminded that I meant to email disney with my indignity. I'll have to pour myself a glass of wine and get right to that :drinking1
Have you ever seen the epsiode of "The Middle", where Frankie has a few beers and sends an email to Brick's principal about his teacher? Then the next morning she reads it back and is a tad mortified? I could see that happening in this case

On the way Jason brought a whole new meaning to the kodak picture spot
At least he made sure his daughter was looking the other way...............although I can only imagine what she sees at home!

As usual per Via Napoli, the service sucked
Lucky for them their food makes up for it! We had crappy service the last time we ate there too; must be those darn Italians ;)

I'm all caught up again! :)

5,000 posts is pretty impressive!

Your food pics are making me really want to try Yak & Yeti although I may choose to stick with an app & dessert when I do. I can never eat a 3 course meal at Disney without regretting it because 1. it does not feel good afterward walking around in the heat for the rest of the day & 2. that makes less room for adult beverages & that is just no good! Yep, I've got my priorities straight! :drinking1

I also will be trying that pizza you get at Via Napoli. Do you find the pizza there to be burnt tasting at all on the bottom? I wasn't sure if it was just me or what because both times I've been there, it tasted burnt. I do order my pizzas well done usually but to me, that means the slices don't flop when you hold them which is how I like it, it's never burnt. Maybe I should nicely ask them when I go so it doesn't have that taste?

I've never seen any buses besides Disney's at their bus stops so that is pretty weird.. When I was standing at the bus stop at HS a few weeks ago waiting for the Epcot bus, a Mears van driver pulled up & parked in the spot. When I asked him if he was going to Epcot, he said no & then I explained he was in the wrong area. He insisted he was not & I asked what happens when the right bus does show up. He motioned with his hand as if to say the bus will have to drive around in circles until he leaves. I was getting pretty frustrated seeing as it was 100+ degrees & I had already been standing there in the sun waiting for 20 minutes. He decided to pull away just as I was about to go get security when another guest who was waiting asked him if he was going to Epcot. I decided I'd waited long enough & took the pathway that was right next to that stop & walked to Epcot instead.

As usual per Via Napoli, the service sucked (we waited at least 15 minutes after being seated before we saw our server),

Thankfully I was texting my dear friend @ariane37 who assured me she'd report us to authorities should the bus driver decided to harvest our organs :-)
OK this totally makes me feel more "sane". Last time DH and I were at the World, we stayed at BC and were taking a Hotel/Chill day, when I decided I HAD to have a Dole Whip (obviously). So, left DH in bed and hopped a bus to MK, arrived right a park opening, got my dole whip (eventually) and was headed out to hop a bus back. Only they aren't going back that early in the day-so as I'm waiting at the stop a VAN pulls up, with a dude driving with a "uniformesque" golf shirt on and disney name tag. He says he can take me to BC. So, partially terrified I hop in, and start texting DH and my sister (back home) that license plate #, and the route he's taking. I was so nervous! LOL! Long story-short, obviously I made it back in one piece as well ;)

Before I get to the food and our further tipsy adventures, this post officially marks the occasion of my 5,000th post on the DIS.

Congratulations!

Somehow, organs intact, we made it to Ep-A-Cot and had to take a picture to document our survival of what was clearly a near fatal incident.

:rotfl:

and Matthew and Casey channeled their inner Screams and Mona Lisa's at the Festival of the Arts.

Love these!

For pizza (cause what else do you order at Via Napoli) Casey and I of course shared our beloved Carciofi.

That looks AMAZING!

For those who haven't read about this pizza the other 10,000 times I've eaten its white pizza with artichoke, fontina, mozzarella, and truffle oil to which we also add arugula. To say this is the best pizza ever is an understatement and to say I would just about kill for some now is even more of an understatement. :-)

Definitely ordering THAT in November!

Congrats on your 5,000 post! That's pretty amazing :) I love Via Napoli, I've only been once 5 years ago, but I've been trying to go back ever since. Adding arugula to pizza is the best, I do it all the time at my local pizza places. Truffle oil on top of it sounds absolutely heavenly. I read this review while having a slice of pizza myself :)

Omg, those nachos from Yak and Yeti are BOMB! i hate sharing so i order them as a meal.
