***Riding out the hurricane at a Disney resort? Post your experiences here!***

I certainly hope so for all of you! I suspect it means they are keeping their options open at the best. They've already told CMs that they are closed Monday, so would be hard to open back up....but they might be able to do some partial openings? After Matthew, they opened Disney Springs in the evening of the second day.

We talked to a Cast Member this morning at Disney Springs and she said that if the weather projections changed that Disney would resume operations on Monday, despite the closing notices that were posted yesterday. I'm hoping the most recent notice on Channel 3 is evidence of that.

Just watched the end of a Muppet movie then Brave on channel 31 (no adverts which was great) not sure if there is another channel as well? But this channel is worth checking out if you're looking for films :-)

Got into POFQ-first spent the day at AK and MK. It was amazing! No lines and almost everything was walk on. 45 min for FoP which gave us time to enjoy the queue! Did pretty much everything at MK that we could have wanted to do-it will make for a really nice relaxing visit next week!

Anyways, as we entered POFQ for the first time we saw Chip and Dale in the entranceway. Seemed like we had a lot of cruise ship "refugees" who turned it into Pirate Night. Later Pluto and Donald came out and Pluto had an awesome interaction with one of the pet dogs in the lobby. Chatted with the CM during registration and she said most of the resort staff working this weekend is staying at the resort.

My sister picked up some bag lunches. A really good value! Large club sandwich (choice of turkey or Italian), chips, fruit, granola bar, and bottle of water for $6. So basically at cost for Disney. We will be able to get hot breakfast tomorrow, but once things close down we will need to stay in rooms.

In room they had already left a flashlight, extra TP, and extra large trash bags. Watching channel 31 for the Disney movie loop-they showed the first 30 min of Santa Clause before it suddenly switched to Tron Legacy! We also caught the end of Brave.

So we're hunkered down with plenty of food and water. Planning to stay safe but also get in some good relaxation time!

I just wanted to note that during hurricane Matthew there was a dance party... and I distinctly remember a video of Captain Hook leading the dance to Thriller! You may be in for a party at the Poly:)

That would be insane! Man I love this place...

He sure did! Not sure if this is vid has that song in it but this was what hapepend at polynesian during matthew to keep the people entertained.

anybody else have luck getting tickets for their loss of MNSSHP and the 2 days they believe will be canceled..? I know everyone is getting tickets or money back for MNSSHP but combined into a 2 or 3 day hopper pass...
@ Pop today, they are serving breakfast from 7 to 10 tomorrow... Have not been to the parks yet, and I hope all is well soon...

When did you arrive? If you're staying at a resort go to Guest Services/Concierge they should be able to take care of your tickets.

EDIT: Also @sherlockmiles is at the resort too if you want to hook up PM each other I believe both of you are attending MNSSHP on Tuesday night.

...I just want to know how and where they will go potty during the storm if no one is allowed outside.
Really good q... Will Disney have some sort of security reminding/keeping because of the curfew thing people from trying to take their pets outside (also the people just trying to be outside without pets to "experience" the storm because you know some people would try something that dumb!)? I really don't envy pet owners over the next couple days who have to find a work around to grass, but I'm sure they'll figure out something! I'm am happy to hear of Disney opening to pets in this emergency!

PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE. Spent the day at Magic Kingdom and everything was basically a walk-on. Came back to our resort to find bagged food (sandwiches, fruit, chips, cookies, water) available at the store and in the food court in the back corner that they set up just for this.

They had Pluto and Goofy in the lobby and the arcade was on free play.

I spoke to the nicest cast member who told me if we needed anything to let them know such as refund park tickets that you weren't able to use and then gave me one of those yellow slips that you get for fastpasses but it was for the boxed food. You can't ask for better service than this.

Also the movies here are on CHNL 31.

Stay safe everyone!!!

Update Polynesian 6 am Sunday - quiet with Hawaiian music playing. About 8 cast members in lobby. 10 in captain cooks and one manning the coffee shop by kona cafe. Captain cooks open for breakfast early - full menu. Ohana at 7:30. Moana mercantile open with three staff. They seem overly staffed and super friendly so far. Only about 5 guests awake including myself.

Kids picked up a few coloring items and CM stated that they plan to have activities tomorrow starting around 8 or 9 am with more characters. Breakfast will be servered at all the restaurants (no characters however).

Confused Northerner here who's never been in a hurricane before with a dumb question. I thought that Sun morning was about when Irma was supposed to hit the Orlando area. The Poly is all separate buildings - how are they having activities and restaurants open there after the storm starts? Are there underground tunnels I didn't know about or are people planning to ride it out in the GCH?

If the same entertainment team that covered Matthew is covering Irma - you guys are in for a treat! That Captain Hook was the bomb!! Do NOT miss the dance party just incase it's the same one! Thriller, Let it Go, Firework, Party in the USA - you name it - he rocked it and got everyone else involved too!

So happy to see the food situation lesson learned from the values - not letting everyone get in line at once was a really good step at making improvements from last year!

Stay Safe and try to make some once in a lifetime memories too!!

Sunday morning and only some rain shower - no wind yet here. I think the storm is expected more tonight into tomorrow morning. Then they may confine to the rooms. Until then guests can go freely around the resort including outside.

I'm not in Florida but the hurricane force winds are not expected to get to Orlando until Sunday evening (ending Monday morning). There will be rain bands and tropical storm wind gusts earlier but guests will be able to walk between buildings earlier in the day. There are no guest access tunnels.

Ugh! Now you tell me ;) That's ok dole whip did the trick! I'll keep that in mind for tomorrow tho ;)
Hey PaulyB - just checked premium Mickey bars still available at Moana :) everything fully stocked and fresh muffins and breakfast at Captain Cooks - no line! Or just have an ice cream bar for breakfast!! About 50 staff in lobby and five crazy guests up at this hour - what can I say I am a morning person.

I woke up early this morning thinking about you all. So, I'm just checking in and praying that you, and all of Florida, are safe. So glad to see Disney making the best of the bad situation for you all.
