***Riding out the hurricane at a Disney resort? Post your experiences here!***

Still pretty windy on our side of pop centry but its quieted down a lot. I see a few snapped branches but no trees down but this was just from a quick window glance. We have a giant group of trees in front, obstructing everything. Heard city curfew if supposed to lift at 8am but they are urging those to stay inside and off theroad.
That's false. Orange County curfew is in effect until 6pm tonight. I'm listening to WDBO. County Sheriff says you will be arrested if caught outside without a darn good reason. I wouldn't expect the parks to open at all today. If guests are seeing downed trees at the resorts there's got to be a lot of debris you don't see about WDW. Not to mention the CMs may be on lockdown in their residences. The most you'll see today are the "ride out crew" staffs who provide entertainment and food at the resorts.

There's a lot of damage about the city. And a lot more power outages. I'm hearing of downed trees on Universal Drive and power outages to traffic signals.

So be content if you are high and dry in a Disney resort. It's the most luxurious accommodations you could have in town right now. Orange County is warning people not to overuse the septic system (flush toilets excessively, wash laundry, etc.) because the city water system took a beating. Several shelters lost power in the middle of the storm. You guys are in paradise in comparison. Get a good day's rest. Let CMs do their stuff. Life will get back to normally eventually.

This is a really interesting thread - glad everyone seems safe!

I was there for Matthew last year and the curfew eventually lifted about 3pm and DS opened up about 5pm. This was bigger tho so can't assume that it will be the same I suppose.

Wonder if anyone staying at CR or BLT with a magic kingdom view can weigh in and see what the park looks like from afar? Glad it seems the damage is not too bad and that everyone stayed safe.

WE SURVIVED! That's the good news! SSR never lost power! Now the bad news- I just checked the parking lot to see if our car sustained damage and the water level is at the bottom of the doors. The waters moving fast so I can't tell if the lot is filling up or receding. Can't tell if water is in the car yet. Wanted to go to Polk county to check our house today but ain't gonna happen!

Morning from BCV we are in the little alcove facing back to the main hotel. A large downed branch close to the hotel and lots of foliage is what we can see from here. The walkway to the main building flooded last night and they brought in a subpump. The quiet pool of course is filled to the brim.

A few flickering lights last night, and we lost A/C in the middle of the night.

Which section of SSR are you in? Where's the water coming from? Which lake?

Staying in 80s building at pop. Looking outside this AM there is no debris at all on the pool side but the opposite side has a fair amount of leaves, palm fronds, some pine branches down. Nothing major. All of the paths are dry and have been since 430. Just little gusts of wind. We never lost power either.
So happy everyone there is safe. Glad damage seems to be at a minimum there at Disney. I assume you still have water in the rooms too? I have a question about building 80 at Pops..has it been renovated?

Good morning all. We have a pretty sheltered GV room at YC. We barely heard anything overnight. In fact, my youngest who was pretty worried about the storm slept right through. We could hear some wind from time to time. Also, odd as it sounds, when you would go into the bathroom the wind in the vent sounded like thunder.

IMG_7974.JPG Update from Poly at 8:40 - phone message to stay in room with curfew in place and great ceremonial house will remain closed. Some damage to roofs - Tokelau tower, doesn't look like much major. Lots of tree debris down, can't see much else from room right now. Never lost power.

Contemporary view of magic kingdom I can't see any damage. Wind is still a pain in the you know what. Branches look to be the main thing I'm seeing. I haven't ventured out of room yet but will be soon

The thinking might be that it would be easier/faster to cut cable ties than to have to move a cupboard or couch event they must open those doors.

On another note, all you guys sound so calm, you should all be proud of how you have dealt with this hurricane.

Hope it is all over for you all really soon.

Sending thoughts and prayers from Australia

We're fortunate in that we're from California and just got stuck here since we couldn't get out before the storm. It is easy to stay calm with how well Disney is taking care of us and the measures they're taking to keep us safe. We know we're going to go home just fine in a few days. People who had to evacuate their homes here (like our friends staying with us) and aren't quite sure what they're going home to, if they're calm, that is impressive. A storm like this that is so large and had such an uncertain path must be so incredibly stressful to prepare for and then see the aftermath of at home.

Did you let Guest Services know. I mean I wouldn't want to change rooms but so that they could check to make sure it's not a bigger issue?

Most of the balconies at BC/YC are leaking to some extent around the framing of the doors along the bottom to the balcony. We let someone know last night just so we could get more towels to absorb the water seeping in (carpet is just getting a little wet in one spot in front of the door - not a huge deal) and they let us know that they could have someone come to vacuum up the water today if it is really bad.

Out of curiosity did anyone see what they did with the pools on Saturday night? I'm wondering if they drained them.

We did actually notice yesterday afternoon before the storm really got that they did lower the water level of SAB by about 6 inches. I think the quiet pool over at BC did flood last night, or at least it looked like it may have when we saw it in our walkings inside the hotel.
