Thanks guys! I was thinking for asking for an upper floor because my husband thinks the higher the floor, the quieter it is. I also thought about asking about being near a pool. I was bummed about how thing were going, (I have spent 20 hours hold over the last 2 days and now a CM named Stanley is supposed to call me back at 3pm bc my reservation disappeared) So I have started looking at the WL thread trying to figure out places to eat, how the transportation works etc. I am super excited that it is so close to MK!

If you are in a standard room, ask for upper floor, fireworks view. We had room 4026 and it was nice. Closer to elevator. 5th floor would have been even a better view.
If you are courtyard view, just ask for an upper floor. All of the courtyard rooms open on to the pool and waterfall.
The main pool is in the courtyard, and all rooms are pretty accessible to the pool. The WL is pretty compact, which I really like. No real long walks to anything.

Is Geyser Point Bar considered a table or counter service?

At Geyser Point there's a window, right next to the mug fill area, and the bar area. It will be clear what I mean when you see it in person.
If you order from the window, it is quick service. If you sit in the bar area they have a lounge menu but can also bring you food from the window. I paid out of pocket so I'm not sure if the bartenders there can take dining plan credits even for the non-lounge menu options.

Thanks Roxy, I found my answer and the window at Geyser Point does take the QSDP.

I appreciate your response.

Any thoughts on why the heck I can't get a standard room for a 13 night stay August 2018? Looking to re-book my bounce back from this year at the WL as I got the OK from the wife to spend the extra cash. (Not to mention it is our favorite resort bar none).

Much to my dismay, no matter how I plug in the dates, the only thing available are courtyard or above views. That makes the cost just a bit too much for my liking, not to mention the fact that I have always found it ridiculous to pay more for a room with a better view.

Just trying to figure out how all standard rooms can be possible booked this far out. Never ran into this before!

Most likely it's how they are room blocking. There also may not be std rooms as part of the bounce back offer. Call and actually talk to someone, although I'd wait until Thursday or Friday since they are still sorting out things from the hurricane.

I am working on my touring plans. Is it faster to take the Boat or Bus to MK from WL?
All depends upon the wait time for said transportation. Given the theoretical assumption both are waiting for you as soon as you walk up, then the bus is a little faster. However, one aspect to factor is metal detector time. On the boat, you go through a separate metal detector just for the boats coming from WL and FW. If you take the bus, you go through the lines with all the other bus riders. For us, there's nothing quite like taking the boat to MK--it's generally quick, enjoyable, and you have shorter wait time to get through bag check.

Thanks! This is our family's first Disney trip, (my first in 20 years!) so there is a lot I don't know.

just got back from our trip and tried to book a BounceBack to WL for December 2018 (right before the holidays, coming back home on Dec 23rd). Sadly, the only rooms available were Club and Suites and they were $$$$$$.

Online it shows availability for standard and courtyard. Do ya'll think most rooms are being excluded from the FD bounceback?

I think that they had a limited number of rooms available for the free dining BB and these are the only ones left. You see it for the other resorts, too.

WL has gotten popular now that construction is finished. :)

Beyond what @Wood Nymph stated, WL is also exceptionally popular around Christmas. They really don't need to offer a discount to fill it.

WL also has approx half the rooms it did before. Not too surprising that means higher prices for the hotel.

But people have the option for the Copper Creek rooms in the main building. Disney still has th majority of those to book out.

Good point! Those aren't available for cash reservations yet, since this is over a year away.

I was at WL last January and I LOVED how peaceful and uncrowded the resort felt. It really felt like coming home. I'm going this coming January and I'm a bit worried that it won't feel the same.

We we're there in 2015 when both sides were still the resort, and the only time it felt crowded was at breakfast at Roaring Fork. Other than that, it was fabulous and relaxing. And with the villas on the south side, they've actually taken away occupancy, so the resort shouldn't feel overly crowded at all.

That's good to know! Especially since Geyser Point opened to help spread out the crowds, including myself who likes the look of the breakfast there over Roaring Forks.
