Chicago Cubs fans - Rebuilding Year 2023

Totally not Cubs related, but wanted to share with friends...

We're heading to WDW the 18th - 22nd of February.
1 Day at BCV and then 3 at BWV. Both new resorts for us, so we're excited.

TOLD you postponed not cancelled! I have never stayed at those either and would be super excited. The Epcot location is my favorite~ Its also not that far away on a countdown! You'll be back rested for Spring Training:thumbsup2

on the theme of how different Jake looks I thought I'd share one of the wives.....

She looks much better with the brown hair.

Well, ironically it was my mess up that made it happen.

I thought I'd used all of this years points and part of next years. I was logging into my account to start planning for next year and it was saying I'd missed my banking window (Aug 1st). I was like, whaaa??? So, it was part of this year's points I'd used and still had 111 left that now I couldn't bank. So, either book something or lose them. Really tough choice there. :rotfl2:

So, I start looking at BWV thinking there's no way...we're well past the 7 month window and I've head BWV fills up quick. Turns out they had 3 of the 5 days I wanted (we almost always do Su-Th to conserve points). They had Mo-We. So, I'm thinking, okay, fine...we'll have a couple extra days with family in central FL. Then I noticed BCV had Su available. I'm not big on moving resorts, but I figured this gives us the chance to see 2 new ones, so okay. Had to borrow 24 points from next year, but I think it's worth it. Already have tickets (still have 5 days on non-expiring tickets...so glad I got those before they were gone) for me and DW, so just have to get tickets for DD. So, money for her tickets, travel and food will be the only expense, so hopefully keep if fairly inexpensive.

So...any pointers/tips/advice/etc.?
I've never stayed at an EPCOT area resort, so any/all ideas welcome.

I don’t know, we kind of play it by ear the few times we’ve stayed there. The location is sooo good that there are almost too many variations of what you could do. You are truly walking or boat distance from both World Showcase and Hollywood, so if you have park hopper it is very reasonable to eat a lot in Epcot “just because” and do split days using those parks. Then, by virtue of being in Epcot’s backdoor, you can extrapolate that you are seemingly a few tram rides from MK, and work that in too.

The FPs and ADRs which everyone does ironically cut into that flexibility but you can make it work. You’ll have a blast.

A lot of good reviews btw about that flying fish redo on boardwalk.

We stay at the Swan. Between the Swan, Dolphin, BW and Y&BC, there are many, many great dining choices in those five resorts. Miniature golf across the street from the Swan. And yes, super easy access to Epcot and the Studios, each boat or walk.

Me and DW have park hopper...I bought non-expriring before they banned them. Unfortunately, DD has none left on her ticket, so will have to buy separate. We tend to alternate park/resort days so we don't burn ourselves out, so will likely only be 2 days at the park. With that said, will likely be better to buy individual tickets because I think 3 day is the lowest park hopper option...didn't fully vet this on undercover tourist yet.

It's possible I may look for off property option to allow us to go to park Friday as well...not sure. Ideally, we move to FL and get annual resident pass so it's a non-issue. ;)

I mentioned this on another thread. I don't get the whole mini golf thing. I can do mini golf anywhere and to me that seems a waste of DT (Disney Time [can I trademark that?]). ;)

The location was why I decided to splurge a bit on points. DW and her family went often to boardwalk in Jersey when she was a kid so I figure she's really going to like the boardwalk location/vibe and being able to walk or boat to two parks is great also. I kinda want to do EPCOT, but there aren't a lot of rides there and the stupid FP tier system screws it up. It will really depend on DW...which parks she wants to do and then I'll plan around that. Already planning on cape may cafe for DW (all you can eat crab legs) and for captain's grille for me (steak). Got an ADR for beaches & cream because ice cream. Other than that, I'm also hoping to do the bier garten (my personal favorite thus far -- love German food). If we don't do EPCOT for a park day, may let DD do dinner on her own and just me and DW go to bier garten since I'm NOT going to use a park entrance just to go to bier garten or possibly go solo and let DW and DD have girl's night since German isn't necessarily DW's favorite.

We are another family that stays at the Dolphin, usually a split stay there and either a value or Poly on splurge trips. I love the WS...can spend hours there and love the walk there. We used to get sandwiches made at The Boardwalk Bakery and take those to MK with us for lunch, and then CS for dinner to save a few $$.You could upgrade Park Hopper's (or at least your) so you can go to the Bier Garten . Everyone should get to choose 1 thing they REALLY would like to do.

We had a fabulous time in Chicago, such a nice city. We did take the cubs, but Notre Dame destroyed the Trojans so I would say we are even. And oh my, what great weather. Is it always like that

so the Cubs assistant hitting coach Erik Hinske just accepted the Hitting Coach position witht he Angels. Cubs have another spot to fill.

Glad you enjoyed the City! We can have beautiful October weather(Fri/Saturday were FAB) but in a flash it can switch. Right now it is 50 and damp/drizzly and chilly~ and next weekend is going to be in the 40's :cold: if we could just do somethig about winter here we'd have something , lol.

I’m glad that you enjoyed your time in Chicago. I’m a Wisconsin fan so I don’t have a dog in your football fight.

Go out a win the WS and keep it in the league!

I want them to win so THEY have a higher chance of a hangover next year. Can you imagine having to face angry Dodgers instead of satieted Dodgers.

Mine and DW are already park hopper. It would be having to get that for DD as well and not necessarily worth the expense to upgrade hers just to go to bier garten unless we're already going to EPCOT anyway. Also, may not even have that option if we end up having to buy 2 individual tickets.
