Stranger Things Season 2

I read that the episode with Eight was done in that manner was because they were thinking of doing a spin-off with those characters but it wasn't as popular and that idea will most likely be scrapped.

I also read that the next season might not be until 2019 due to the schedules of the main actors with movies and such. :(

I also liked season 2 better than season 1 and I loved season 1!

Cannot say enough good things about this season. I loved how dark it was. I loved how well it was written. If you watch Beyond Stranger things, after the last episode, they say some stuff was improv and it worked better then the scripted stuff. Amazing show. Amazing actors amazinging well written

Agree with everything, but did anyone think the whole Eleven's sister storyline was bizarre? Considering we first see her sister in the very first scene of the very first episode, I thought they were going to build that up to be something more. But I was disappointed with how it played out. That was the only thing I didn't care for this season.

In response to @Ariel484
Its funny that you thought early on that Bob may be a bad guy. We thought hte same. We also thought Max and her brother may have more to them, possibly knowing something about the upside down, etc.

I read that Stranger Things has been renewed for at least two new seasons, but am curious if season 3 will come out sooner. I think it was over a year between season 1 and 2 because the success was unexpected. The only downside of binge watching is you have to wait so long between seasons!

Not to get off topic, but does anyone watch The OA on Netflix? Only the one season so far, but season two is expected early next year. We enjoyed that too and it shares similar elements of Stranger Things. I recommend if you're looking for something else to binge!
I totally thought episode 7 (Chicago/008) was bizarre, but I get why it was there.
So when we were first watching I got super excited when we noticed that there were 9 episodes this season instead of 8 like in season 1...and then episode 7 happened. :rotfl:

I already said this, but to go into it more...I think they had to have this episode, just to go more into Eleven's past (and I think they will/should unpack more of her past as the show goes forward). I think we needed to know more about her mom and what happened to her, and I personally have been curious to know if there's a 001-010 out there (maybe even beyond 011?). I do think the whole "will she leave Hawkins to go on a killing rampage with the Suicide Squad?" part of it was a little dumb, because obviously she wasn't going to do that. And I thought that the characters in the new gang were AWFUL. Eight didn't bother me that much, and neither did the driver/enforcer characters, but the other two looked and acted just SO ridiculous. Especially Mohawk Guy, OMG was he annoying. I totally think the Eleven backstory was necessary but I think they could have done it a different way.

But as others have said, I think they did it to show 1.) how she can really use anger to be more powerful, 2.) that she did have this opportunity to get back at the Hawkins Lab people and decided not to go that route, 3.) that Brenner may still be alive (??! - we saw the Demogorgon jump on him in season 1 but never saw his body afterward), and 4.) that of the 3 "homes" she had offered to her (Aunt Becky's house, Chicago or Hawkins), she chose Hawkins. At this point I'm guessing that Brenner really is alive and that part of how the show will end (hopefully after 5 seasons!!) will be an Eleven vs. Brenner showdown.

I did like the part where she made the decision to go back to Hawkins after remembering Mike "naming" her and Hopper having breakfast with her. That was super sweet and I'm looking forward to more Eleven/Mike and Eleven/Hopper moments (and really some Mike/Hopper moments too - I think they have some issues to sort through with Hopper keeping Eleven a secret all year and Mike and Eleven likely dating in S3 - the whole "what are your intentions with my daughter?"-type conversation). And I may have already said this but I DO NOT like Eleven's punk makeover! I thought she was so cute with the overalls and curly hair.
We also thought that either Max or her brother would have powers. We kept waiting for it all season!
Seriously, I thought there was going to be way more to Max & Billy. My husband was convinced that Max's real dad was Dr. Owens - but nope, just moved there from California due to parents' divorce. They made it seem like there was some big mystery, but there really wasn't. :confused3
This is the bummer of netflix...We plow through them way too fast! Love/hate
Agreed!! I wish I had the discipline to spread the episodes out a little more...we'd plowed right through. :(

Unless they're going to jump forward in time, I think waiting too long to get future seasons into production will be a problem because the child actors will still be aging. I know it throws me when an actress is suddenly curvy or an actor's voice has deepened or he has shot up in height, but the storyline of a show implies that the character as old as he or she had been previously.

They said there will be a one year jump between seasons 2 and 3 in "Beyond Stranger Things" or whatever that show is called. ;)

I loved the addition of Max and Bob in Season 2. The brother, hmmm. Nice to look at, but not much function.

DD liked a video of the "boys" singing with James Corden. Wow! Lots of talent in that group, no wonder they are so self confident at such a young age. Gaten (Dustin) was in Les Mis on Broadway when he was really young, and Sadie (Max) was too, she was Annie! Millie and Caleb also do a lot of singing. Maybe they will have a musical episode. Ha.

A musical episode, that would be so much fun LOL.
That video from James Corden is soooooooooooooo good!

I think it's probably Millie Brown slowing things down. She's going big time now with her new role in the next Godzilla movie. Also rumors about her joining the next Narnia movie. Fans calling on her to join Star Wars as well. I like her character but the show can continue without her if she's going to slow things down.

Agreed. The actor who plays Hopper was also cast as Hellboy too, and from what I have read, he will apparently be getting ripped for the role. Workouts, clean eating, etc. He won't look like Hopper from this last season so I'll be curious if they acknowledge that at all in upcoming seasons. But to a PP's point, the kids will be aging out quickly, even with a one year time hop or fast forwarding to high school years. This is a problem the Walking Dead has with Carl - he looks MUCH older than his character is supposed to be because of the show's slow timeline and the actor's real life aging.

I really liked the show, I rarely binge watch and I totally did for this season. I guess a few of the plot holes bugged me though. Steve jumping in like he did just wasn't believable for me, even though I loved him in all of his scenes this season, it just didn't make sense how they got him involved.

Also in the ending - they had decided that they couldn't just burn the "dogs" because it would hurt Will, yet in the end the group of kids decided to go down in the tunnels and burn it anyways even before it had come out of Will. And speaking of going in and out of the upside down world - the way they switch back and forth between needing full hazmat suits to just putting a rag over your mouth is slightly annoying.

Again, this was a lot of fun to watch, but I thought they played a little loose with some of the story threads. I didn't mind the Chicago episode as much as everyone else, I would like to see 8 some more. I also wonder where they're going with Max and her brother seems like something is up there that I'm missing.

Steve was already involved. He battled the monster in season one. It only makes sense he would help again.

the boys didn’t go down there to kill it, they went down there because they knew the dogs would come running if they did that, so that Eleven and Hopper could shut the gate to get rid of it without being attacked by the dogs.

Gaten was also in Priscilla on Broadway and Caleb was young Simba in the Lion King on Broadway.

Actually, in the story I read it seemed as if Mike (Finn something) was the busiest of the kids. He is filming some movie now and is up for It 2 with the success of the recent It. Millie has offers too, but it seemed by the tone of the article it is Mike's schedule that's holding things up.

I just looked it up, "Dog Days." It looks like junk with a bunch of C list celebs. Stranger Things needs to take priority over that.

I would like to see a good couple of years jump in time before the next season. Even in the press interviews now the boys are so much taller and older. Seeing them in HS would be great. It would be a challenge to integrate the older kids who may be College age though, or adults living out in the world. Although Steve mentioned he could skip College and just work for his father.

Anyone else mad that the monster did not eat the step brother????

I really enjoyed it. I just binged both seasons this week. Now I am not sure what to do with myself. :lmao:

For future reference - when you go to reply, the little buttons where you can insert pictures or films...the one to the right that sort of looks like a little flag has a SPOILER tag option. :)

I was bummed too! I mean...I sort of figured he was gonna be a goner around maybe episode 5 or 6, but it was still sad! He was such a good guy, so good for Joyce, Jonathan and Will.

Not sure if anyone else thought this, but early in the season both Mr. Ariel484 and I were completely convinced that Bob was a bad guy - like a spy for Hawkins Lab or something. :confused3 Not sure what it was about him, but we were so surprised that he actually turned out to be a good guy. And then despite the fact that we were totally sure he was gonna die when he was trying to escape the lab, we were on the edge of our seats during that scene.

I had made the call pretty early on that the would either die or be a bad guy, he just seemed to good to be true.
Also I feel that she belongs with Hopper and he was in the way of that.

Steve was awesome in the second season, I totally fell in love with him when he started interacting with Dustin. Hopper is amazing.

Steve was great, I felt bad for him all season like oh didn’t know which one you wanted her to end up with now.
