Where to keep laptop

We are going for 11 days next month and I don't think I can go that long without my laptop:rotfl:. My tablet just doesn't do it for that long of a trip. Now that your room can be entered any time where do you keep your laptop?

It depends on your resort and the size of the safe. If it fits, I put it in the safe. If it doesn't fit, I put it in a suitcase and put a lock on the suitcase. It looks like you are at Sports for your next trip? I haven't stayed there yet, so I'm not sure what size safe they have. It seems like as they renovate hotels, they are putting bigger safes in. Even at Pop, I couldn't fit the laptop in the old safe, but I could in the new one.

I don't usually take my laptop though, as I find my iPad Pro to be an adequate substitute for the ten days or so that I'm there, especially in a keyboard case. I used to take a laptop pre-tablet though, and probably 50% of the time it fit in the safe and 50% of the time it didn't.

We haven't really heard if anyone will be checking luggage as part of the new procedures, but I would at least try it, or perhaps try a cable lock. I wouldn't just put it in a drawer under some clothes or something. A big part of room theft is opportunity, and if there is a choice of secured valuables or unsecured valuables, the unsecured will be the ones taken.

I have been able to put it in the safe. I used to leave out on the table until I realize it fit in there.

We are staying at Sports and the last time we were there they safe looks really small. I don't think my laptop will fit.

My nephew just zips his into a duffel bag, and tosses some dirty clothes on top for good measure.

The same place as before, in the in-room safe. If it doesn't fit (either it is too big or there are other items), speak to the front desk (in person) as there may be a safe deposit box available there -- at the Deluxe resorts I know they do have them because we have used them, and they have various sizes, including ones that will hold objects much larger than a laptop.

Locked luggage is an alternative, but do some research to learn how easy it is to defeat a suitcase zipper without you knowing. Our suitcases lock in a fixed place, so at least if someone defeats the zipper it is clear it has been broken into as they can't reclose the zipper.

At some hotels I have used a Pacsafe travel safe. The 12L one holds our laptops: http://www.pacsafe.com/bags/portable-safes/

Recently stayed in AS Music. We had two laptops with us and neither would even come close to fitting in the safe. DD left her laptop in a backpack but I left mine out in the open. Unless it is new or high-end, I don't think there is much risk.

The safe is good for fitting a tablet or a smaller laptop (I have a MacBook air that fits in fine). Other than that i would leave in suitcase zipped up in the closet.

"Now" that your room can be entered at any time?
Its always been the case really.
My room has been entered without me asking for it for maintenance before last week.
I just keep my electronics out of sight.
If you can't see them then a crime of opportunity is much less likely to occur.
Personally I'm not too concerned about my belongings being stolen.

We always put it in the safe. If it doesn’t fit, talk to the front desk. We used to decline housekeeping exactly to keep people out of our room due to valuables. Now that they’re removing that option, they need to provide something for guests to secure valuables. A laptop is not an unusual piece of equipment. I frequently take mine on vacation to download my pictures on to it. I likely won’t be taking it this time though as I don’t plan on taking a ton of pictures. And because of these security concerns.

There is a big difference between them coming in your room for a maintenance issue (which for most stays wouldn’t happen) and someone coming in your room every day, guaranteed. In the past, we would decline housekeeping most days. The days we let them come in, we would either be present or take the laptop with us. I’m more lax about it, but my husband is very protective of his laptop.

I don't think painting a wall during the middle of my stay is a necessary maintenance....
I don't NEED housekeeping daily but it don't mind it at all.
I actually prefer when they come when I'm not there because if they come while I'm there I either have to sit there and feel awkward or vacate the room when I was not planning on it.
I'm really not concerned aobut items being stoeln.

I always use the safe, 15.4 inch laptop fits most of the time if it's propped up, if yours won't fit consider cable locking it to some furniture...

The new policy shouldn't really change anything as far as securing your valuables (should secure them no matter what)
