Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

Hey DisFans!

About to take my first stay at Polynesian Village and have some questions about Capt. Cook's breakfast. We're hoping to buy breakfast sandwiches and run straight to the monorail, but we're not aware of the portion size. We can try our best to build in sit down time to eat, but we're getting up pretty early already. Would love any and all advice to make this a smooth vacation for us and those around us.
Just left the Poly yesterday. One morning I picked up a breakfast sandwich and breakfast tortilla wrap to go, and our family of 4 shared them. Our teens certainly could have eaten full ones, but they were satisfied with half. We find that we need some protein in the morning, and if we just eat muffins we're hungry in an hour. We also bought cereal and milk and had that for a quick breakfast when needed.

How long is the walk from GCH to TTC? We are hoping to stay in Aotearoa. I don’t mind the walk, just wondering how much time to allot

I didn't time it but probably less than 10 minutes, at a leisurely pace. There was no one waiting in line for Epcot Monorail security so that sped things up a lot. Depending on the time of day that might cause some delays.

I can’t wait to go. We told the kids on Christmas Eve and they’re getting excited now too. My youngest doesn’t remember Disney at all so he doesn’t really know what to expect (but does remember Universal from 2 years ago

Yay! We will be there at the same time. It's such a great time of year to go. Nice escape from the bitter cold and snow!

We just booked our 25th Wedding Anniversary Trip at the Polynesian Village Resort!!! This will be our first time staying at the Poly, my DD’s dream resort. We have two rooms, one for our DD (20) and her BFF. It will be so wonderful having a room all to ourselves. When my DD was little, we somehow managed to share a double bed in a tiny value or moderate room. We’ve come a long way! So exciting!!!

Two questions for those of you with more experience: We booked two Standard rooms through a travel agent. She asked if we had any requests. One that she mentioned was pool view. I thought pool view was now considered water view which would be an upgrade. Am I mistaken? Anyway I requested that we be near the Grand Ceremonial House so that we would be near the food, shops, and monorail. Is that a request that a travel agent can make or will my request most likely be ignored?

I think being near GCH isnt a bad request, if your wanting a pool view and be close to GCH I believe Samoa and Niue will be your best option..

Congrats on your 25th anniversary trip! We will be at the Poly for our 10th anniversary in Sept and I am super excited this will be our 4th time at Poly but our first stay on the DVC side

Thank you! I hope you have a wonderful time.

Question for the Poly experts: if you are rope dropping MK, how much time before park opening do you try to give yourself to get there?

For me, it depends on the MK opening hour.

For a 9AM opening, they let you in the gates 7:45-8ish, so you have an hour to stroll around Main Street up to the Hub. The welcome show is at the castle stage at 8:55AM. I will often leave Poly in the 8:15ish-8:30ish range, maybe earlier if I want to stop at the Main Street Starbucks (the line can be long).

For an 8AM opening or earlier opening, there’s no “hour on Main Street” time like with a 9AM opening. For an 8AM opening, I’d be leaving Poly no later than 7:30AMish. They’ll open the front entrance gates in the 7:45ish-8AM range.

Some folks may want to be more aggressive in their timing than what I’m suggesting above - I don’t like to do a lot of waiting around so would rather be more “right on time” than anything else. Others might be more comfortable allowing more time, even if that means sitting around.

Hope that helps!

Thank you! This is super helpful since we have four MK mornings planned during our trip, and each day has a different park opening time (7:00 EMH, 7:45 EMM, 9:00, and 8:00)!

Anyone know if you can buy creamer in any of the food courts or resort gift shops? I will have a refillable mug but I know DH and I will want coffee upon waking so I will have to make at least 2 cups before heading out for breakfast and the parks
