Disney's BOARDWALK INN Information & Questions

What kind of mattresses do they have at the INN? Are they memory foam, traditional springs, or a combo of the 2?

I wasn't aware that any Disney hotel had memory foam mattresses - but I'm sure other people can give you better info.

Our school calendar for next year has just been released and we will get out closer to Christmas but stay out further from New Years. As a result, we are considering a stay at the Boardwalk Villas at the end of next year. We plan to rent DVC points and check in on 12/29/18 and check out on 1/6/19. What are the odds that we will be able to secure a studio 11 months out? Are they all gone immediately? Thanks!

Ive always rented points when staying at Boardwalk and I've never had an issue with availability on a studio at 11 months. Certain categories may not be available (and even that has varied) but I've always gotten a studio when we wanted one

Booking at 11 months exactly will give you best opportunity. Plan on Pool/Garden view since they’re by far the most numerous, but you might be able to get Boardwalk or Standard.

We have returned to the real world. We stayed at BWI December 16th through 21st. We had a wonderful time. We were in room 5304. I had Touring Plans fax a room request for me and requested room 5302, so we were ecstatic to receive the text that we'd been assigned 5304. For the first night, our neighbors in 5306 were pretty loud -- there is a connecting door between 5304 and 5306. They weren't obnoxious, just loud. It sounded like grandparents with grandchildren. Grandpa was hacking up something for a long time our first morning. When we came back in the late afternoon, the scooter was gone and so, too, were our neighbors. The new family that moved in was as quiet as we were.

We used the hot tub by the quiet pool every night except one. It was usually just us or us and 2-3 others. It was a great way to wind down for the night. I used the pool one night and it was nice and refreshing.

The CMs at BWI were delightful. It was always nice to see Mary in the Belle Vue Lounge when my daughter got her morning coffee. Our housekeeper was great -- the room was always **** and span for us. We needed an extra blanket and that was promptly brought to us. We also asked for extra towels the first day and had plenty for our entire stay.

We've gone during this time frame a few times, but the parks were noticeably more crowded this year than in years past. We still enjoyed ourselves very much. We did the Candle Light Processional one evening with Neil Patrick Harris and it was fabulous. We did the dining package and our lunch at Chefs de France was outstanding. We were able to do FOP twice; once at rope drop and later with a Fast Pass. We enjoyed that, but it did make my daughter a little queasy.

I'm suffering from a little withdrawal and haven't been on the boards since we got back, but I'll check in and answer questions if I can. I need to schedule another visit to BWI. Perhaps May.

I requested the same room! I check in tomorrow. Good to know they at least seem to take the requests seriously. I hope I have the same luck as you did!

The asterisks in my comment about how clean our housekeeper kept our room made me laugh because I am Latina.

A reservation for those days may need walking. You need a private rental from a BWV owner and you may pay a premium to get it.

We found an awesome owner on the DVC rent board here on the DIS. I paid the same as I would have through David's but she walked the reservation for me. She was a pleasure to work with. They have other renters on the board that are willing to walk reservations (not many owners) or book at exactly 8 am.

I'm confused. How can a renter walk a reservation? A renter can't contact Member Services.

Only an owner can walk a reservation and contact MS. mi*vida*loca just referred to the person renting their points, not the person getting the reservation. Technically, the renter is the point owner and the rentee is the person who needs the reservation.

I just purchased an AP rate for a BWI Standard View for 4 adults for Saturday, Feb. 10 through Monday, Feb. 12. Although we’ve stayed at BWV a couple times over the past few years, this will the first for BWI. I have been checking rates for all Disney hotels for several weeks, and finally found one for BWI that was too good to pass up.

Please remove my reservation. I switched to a BC Lagoon/Pool View for about $50 more a night after tax for the 2 nights.

This is what i meant. Thanks !

Thanks for the clarification.

How is the selection of wine/beer at the gas station? I'm not a wine snob by any means. I can drink Yellow Tail, Smoking Loon, Big House priced wines for example. For beer, if they have Corona we'd be happy, but of course we like craft brews too. Would it be worth a trip to walk over there or should I bite the bullet and Uber/Instacart it?

In your case, I think I'd make an Uber trip over to ABC Fine Wine and Spirits on S. Apopka-Vineland Rd right next to the Winn-Dixie.

Just got back from our first (hopefully not last) stay at BWI. We were in Standard room 5306 from 12/21 to 12/26. It was fantastic seeing Illuminations every night right outside our window. Other than the nightly fireworks it was super quiet. Very relaxing. Front Desk and Mousekeeping were great. Here is a pic from the balcony should anyone be curious (fyi There is also a great view of Spaceship Earth too during non-fireworks).

However, Big River Grille was very disappointing in the beer and food. The menu, food quality and overall atmosphere needs a serious revamp (it would not take much). Servers were the only good thing going. Avoid at all costs. In all my years going to various things Disney this was probably the worst meal I have had. Pete may have a new place to add his extreme dislike of Tony's and Hollywood and Swine with this place. Shame because its a great location. :-(

We were pretty swamped with other things to do so we didn't get to explore the other resorts and activities in the area. Something to correct next time. All said would not hesitate to stay there again.

You'd be fine...thats pretty much what they had in addition to a few other local brews and a couple craft choices.

We always fly with a small soft ice chest and when we hit the pool or just go down to the boardwalk load up with the beers from Hess (or whatever it's called now)
