I love credit cards so much!

We are Hilton people and my boys are finally getting old enough for Uni, so thx for sharing!
If you have Hilton Gold status (say via an AMEX Plat) you get free breakfast there. And I'll say it wasn't a decent buffet breakfast with made to order omelets.

Some chatter on /r/churning that MPX may be dead. Give it a few more days and we'll see what's up.

Ugh! I used this successfully this week at a restaurant and thought it was awesome to get the additional miles (Thanks for the help on that!!). Hope it's nothing.

AMEX Biz cards are an instance where adding an AU is safe. It won't report to their personal credit report.

Thanks as always!

I am going to apply soon. I don’t currently have an Amex since Costco cut ties. Did you get instant approval then? I have to mentally prepare if it is going to be like CIP and I have to wait for several days.:scared:
I received instant approval but I think that's not always the case. Might want to prepare yourself just in case!

I would probably just make your life easy and use the CSR. 3 times the points and the travel protections makes it seem worth it to me rather than dealing with a gift card.

Man I don't want to hear that! For first time I bought Delta gift card 2 months ago on their site. My cunning plan was that I would buy it with my Capital One Venture and then use the purchase eraser so I could then downgrade the Venture to a no fee one. Of course it coded as business Cashstar (my bad) and was not a travel expense. So I just cashed out the miles and got a Target gift card. Now I have the $100 Delta gift card and am waiting to buy flights for a May WDW trip but I am buying 3 with miles and 2 with a companion certificate. That is really disheartening that the stupid Delta gift card that I shouldn't have even bought anyway I might not even get to use! And the flights actually went down last night and I thought "book now!" but then didn't want to deal with the drama and so didn't. And now of course they are up. Ahh the pains and travels of credit card hacking. #firstworldproblems.

I just read the fine print on the Delta GC that I have and it states that it is for flights but not for in flight purchase, baggage fees etc. If I use any GC I will make sure to read the fine print before purchasing.

i think its MPX+Amex 5x is dead... id give it a few days and see if any of the bloggers report this as well.

Not the OP, but my SPG Biz that I recently got was instant approval. My CIP was not and took a couple of calls to recon.

I know. Been through this scare before, but wondering if there's something more this time around. If this trick has been nerfed, MPX remains a good way to earn UA miles for a lot of exact amounts in store/restaurant/online spending, and stack with shopping portals, but won't earn any more bonus on the MR side. It also complicates the choice between MPX for mostly UA miles and whatever UR/MR your card gives you vs. Gyft and Swych for 3x and 5x UR with CIP and CIC/Ink+, respectively. Posted some thoughts about this on /r/DISchurners.

So pretty sure we’re going to book a summer disney trip throug the travel agency that must not be named. Cant use ur points there lol. Total cost for room and tickets- 3440.

I have 832 dollars in discover cash, 600 dollars from discover savings account bonuses. Going to try and do the chase checking and savings bonuses when I go visit my sister in jersey next (open a branch in philly chase). That should be 500.

Any other ideas for Cash back? Husband is getting a cip, but we’ll save those points as I’m looking at Europe this fall. Should I burn a 5/24 spot and have dh refer me to the Disney card for a net of 300 dollars?

Used them recently - great to work with :)

I don't remember your 5/24 status, husband's 5/24 status, and what cards you've earned bonuses on so hard to make a good recommendation. The Disney card idea might not be a "fatal error" in your instance though. Definitely a tough decision...

We’re kind of slow churners. My husband will only agree to one card a year, two if I can push him. He thinks this whole thing is ridiculous. He has a Disney, a csp from 3/17 that will be downgraded to a cfu and a cip he’s opening this week. Should be fine, as long as I can convince him that his 10k in 1099 income means he has a business.

I’m currently 3/24 with my now closed csp falling off in March and then my csr and cfu falling off late August. Was looking at the spg biz soon. Would like to consider a companion pass for 19/20 so I’m trying to keep a slot open for that.

My current cards
Amex blue for students- 2001, what is now a chase freedom- 2004, crate and barrel card 9/2014, discover it 12/2015, csp 3/2016 (closed), cfu/ csr 8/2016, cip 6/2017.

Yeah - grrr Delta. You could always resell it if you don't think you'll use it. Either that or buy A LOT of food on the plane!

Is your husbands Disney over 24 months old? If so, with his insistence on not getting a lot of cards I'd consider this:

You apply for Disney using his link...$300...then cancel his card. He applies for Disney using your link...another $300...all cashback/gift cards towards your Disney trip. Of course that doesn't work if his card is less than 24 months old...

I'd say with your application patterns a Disney card would not necessarily be a bad decision. Just make sure you understand the trade offs of whatever other Chase card you could be getting with that slot.

No his Disney card is apparently 8/16.

I figure I’m giving up a Marriott or united card for the Disney. Honestly I’m not sure I’d use either very much. With two littles, school schedules, etc, we’re down to 1 trip a year and few weekends.

Just in case you haven't browsed through this yet: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/best-bank-account-bonuses/ you might get inspired.

Before you burn a 5/24 on the Disney just be certain there's nothing else you want. Have you hit the Arrival+ yet? Might want that first as it would be worth $400 in statement credits toward travel purchases.

I don’t think you can use arrival plus credit for Disney purchases. Just undercover tourist, etc. and everything I’m booking is through a travel agent that likely will just charge as wd travel.

We used that agency back in Sept and they coded as travel as I earned 3x on my CSR using them. So the arrival+ should give you the $400 credit.

We are a family that doesn't get to travel very much either. One trip a year for us pretty much, and we love Disney, so that is almost always where we vacation. If you are that type of family also, the Disney visa may be exactly what you should get! I have dreams of getting the Marriott card and maybe the United someday but honestly, I have to stop and wonder how much they would really benefit me. Disney is always useful!

Thanks for responding!
Did you fly American/British Airways and how was the flight? I am looking for as direct a flight as possible and the one that
consistently shows up from the west coast is Alitalia (which is in bankruptcy).

I flew AA because the fuel charges were much lower than BA flights. I booked Economy MileSaver awards which I think were 30k and 22.5k each. The flight to Rome left in the evening and arrived in the morning. I was in the aisle and the people next to me didn't sleep all night. I was wishing I started collecting miles sooner to have booked a better seat. Coming back was a daytime flight, easier to pass the time watching movies.
I read the same rumors about Alitalia and my DD avoided them while traveling on her weekends. I would have worried about her getting stuck somewhere if something happened.
One other thought, I added her as an AU on my CSP incase she needed emergency money.
Sorry I can't help much with west coast flights but if you have any other questions just ask.
