Is there still a CM-only board? If a CM sees this, would you please post there and/or pass it along?
I just got back from a 4-day trip with my wife and DS4, Jack. On Saturday night, 2/17, we were incredibly blessed and fortunate to be given some surprise Disney magic at Epcot, thanks to a wonderful CM server at Rose & Crown.
(As background, ~ 11 years ago, December 2006, I proposed to my now-wife during Illuminations. We were at Rose & Crown standing against the railing. It was a beautiful and memorable moment.)
Fast-forward to Saturday 2/17/18. This was our first trip back to WDW in 11 years, and this time we were with our DS4, Jack. We managed to get a reservation for lunch at R&C. We had an excellent lunch, reminisced about our proposal, and enjoyed the scenery. During lunch, we mentioned to our server, Katie, that we became engaged here. I asked politely if there was any way we could return to watch the fireworks from the standing area at night, despite not having a reservation. Katie returned a few minutes later and informed us that she would be working the front of house that night, and that she had our names down for admittance.
We returned at 8:30pm, and Katie greeted us and informed us she had managed to get us a table right by the water. We were surprised and thrilled. We ordered a couple of drinks, and were delighted when our son's orange juice came out in a special cup with a light-up Buzz Lightyear clip. Again we were surprised and super grateful and Jack was excited to have his new Buzz light.
A few minutes later Katie came out with a gigantic plate full of desserts! We were blown away. We had just eaten and were stuffed, and I still feel bad that we left half of the desserts on the plate by the end of the night. We felt super lucky and the night was already better than we could ever have imagined.
Then, a bit before 9pm, Katie came out and told Jack that "Mickey is stuck on the Monorail and won't be able to start the fireworks tonight! Will you please help?" Our shy DS4 was very excited, and my wife and I couldn't believe the amazing hospitality we were so lucky to be receiving. A few minutes before Illuminations, Katie returned with a sticker-sash, a crown, and a big light-up wand for Jack. She helped him wave the wand and, at the exact right moment, the wand lit up and the first firework of the night jetted across the sky. Jack smiled with pure joy in a way we don't often get to see. It was an incredible and unforgettable moment.
THANK YOU KATIE! And thank you to all of the CMs that make magic for families like us every day.
