Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH RESORT Information & Questions

Hello! Read through the thread- we stayed at CBR 4 times in past before construction. Scheduled to stay 8 nights in April- would you recommend Martinique or Jamaica? And if so which one? Only dislike with CBR in past was spotty bus service but willing to try again. Also have debated upgrading to POR for $400 more total. Decisions decisions....

Personally I would stay at Jamaica. Martinique has more construction activity around it. And I would save your $400. I think CBR is still great.

Hope they announce kids items soon too. I can’t imagine anywhere at Disney not offering something for the tikes.

Is there any talk about expanding that soon-to-be-NOT-SO-QUIET-pool with the most assured higher foot traffic or adding other activities?

I don't see them expanding the TS Pool.

My "guess" is Spyglass will have a lot of traffic UNTIL OPR reopens and then I just don't see a lot of non-TS Guests making the hike over there with so many options then available to them at OPR.:)

So, Spyglass is going to be a permanent restaurant in TS?

I guess I wonder what the point of Spyglass is, long term. It doesn’t seem to visibly have a long term plan to support a large flow of guests without some other big change (CBR seems to have a few of those already...). It isn’t in the same area as Riviera Resort or Disney Skyliner - I t’s on the other end of the resort. What’s the long term draw to Spyglass? That’s kind of why I’m wondering what’s next in TS to support this.

Don’t get me wrong, more amentities is better! But wouldn’t this have made more sense to put near the gondola? Or riviera?

The point is to make reserving a Pirate Themed room more appealing. They normally can't give those roons away because of the distance to the food court. Through their surveys they've found it's the #1 complaint of guests staying in Trinidad South. They've also found it's the number reason guests who wouldn't normally reserve a Pirate Themed room would change their mind.

Agree 100%. During all of my time on the Dis, I've always heard people complaining about the walks from Trinidad South to the food court. Disney Travel offers travel agents special pricing on unsold rooms and every single time that I've checked for myself, with the exception of our Thanksgiving, 2017 trip (which fell within free dining) a pirate room comes up. With pirate rooms not booking solid, Disney knew that they had to do something to fill them.

As others have mentioned, its purpose is to be a HUGE amenity for staying at TS because of the distance from TS to dining offerings at OPR.

Guests were complaining that they would head from TS to OPR for Breakfast and by the time they arrived at OPR they would be serving Lunch!lol:)

I also think the pirate rooms would be more appealing if they were queen sized beds. We wouldn't mind the walk so much, but we need a good nights sleep. Getting a queen sized bed is a big reason we go with moderate resorts instead of value.

Having a food option there is helpful, but the bed size is definitely our big reason for not booking them. I hope they don't "upgrade" us to that section.

Checked in today, staying in Jamaica. The construction is noticeable but doesn’t ruin the magic or atmosphere IMO. Had the buffet dinner and was pleasantly surprised. It’s a great value on the DDP. Really enjoyed the conch soup and the meat station.

The singing pirates started at our table and that was really fun. Having a blast so far.

Awesome-nice to hear a good review for Centertown Buffet-so many folks disparage it.:)

Thanks for your post. Please tell us more as your trip progresses! I didn't know they have singing pirates. Sounds like fun!

I get some people don’t like buffets. And this buffet doesn’t have a huge number of options. But for a QS credit its great. The pork was juicy and delicious. The beef was good. I liked the curry shrimp way more than I thought I would. And the best dessert was a rum flavored chocolate mousse. I REALLY liked that one. I actually wish we were eating there again for dinner. But our meals are all planned out.

My kids and wife all enjoyed their meals. We all left full and happy.

Awesome-and we are always so impressed with the CB CMs-as soon as we finish a plate,it is GONE!!!!:)

And they often offer to refill our Mugs for us.:)
