You need to give the name of the website you’re citing. It’s confusing to refer to it as “the Dvc” or “Dvc rental”. I don’t even know what site you’re referring to, since there are a couple of Dvc rental websites.

While studio DVC rentals currently compare favorably price wise to cash reservations for deluxe rooms and studios, that may not hold true for larger villas depending on view, time of year, resort and discounts being offered by Disney for cash bookings.

This is not quite correct. If you stay seven nights or less, on day four (day one is check in day), you will get your trash removed and towels and amenities replaced. If you stay eight nights or more, you get a full cleaning on day four and trash removed and towels and amenities replaced on day eight. Then the cycle repeats for longer stays. There is no calling for fresh towels or asking for beds to be made. If you want that, you pay extra. If you need more shampoo, conditioner, etc, you pay for that as well. If you want more coffee, you also pay for that or you bring your own. DVC is a timeshare and members/owners pay for all the operations of the resort with their annual fees.

You can go through DVC rental and they can guide you just like a travel agent. You can reserve beautiful Disney villas like at the Polynesian or Beach club at less than moderate pricing. Yes you are not elegible for free dinning but it can total quite under a pakage price. I am doing a split stay through Disney and DVC rental 2 nights royal room at POR, 1 night Grand Floridian and 6 nights at the Polynesian with tickets and dinning for less than a 7 night royal room package. The only negative for me is you cant cancel 30 days prior like Disney offers. I purchased insurance for a 45 day no questions 100% refund. Its worth trying if you want to stay in deluxe accommodations.

Not all DVC rentals work this way. You are probably referencing a specific rental company, not a generic term. Many companies and individual owners who rent points do not offer any cancellation policy at all. No refunds at all. This is a timeshare, not a hotel.

Every resort hotel or DVC villa is security checked every day. DVC isn't treated any differently in that aspect. While DVC may be calling it daily trash service, it's really a security check to make sure a guest isn't preparing to go Vegas.

I'm confused about what you're saying that's different than what Best Aunt said. She said "DVC rooms booked on points (which is what you are doing if you rent) do not get daily housekeeping. And I don't see that she mentioned any of the other stuff?

Not all DVC rentals work this way. You are probably referencing a specific rental company, not a generic term.

I think she's talking about a specific site that is perhaps close to the name "dvc rental" but by not capitalizing etc she's making it confusing. And also maybe bypassing the filter (haven't googled).

While DVC may be calling it daily trash service, it's really a security check to say they are trying to make sure a guest isn't preparing to go Vegas even though anyone could do anything in the 24 hours between CMs popping their heads in for 30 seconds.

To the OP, all of this discussion aside, I'll just chime in to say that renting DVC points is a great way to go! Save significantly on deluxe hotel stays. Takes some work, but that's really the only way we go anymore.

We’re considering renting points this fall. We still don’t know for sure if we are going and what are exact dates are. Availability is limited so we aren’t able to be picky with our resort choices, but we still think it would be fun to try for the first time.

FWIW, we are planning for October and just had someone last week check availability for our dates. Saratoga Springs was the only resort that had availability for the full duration of our stay, without switching resorts or room types. We ended up just booking a moderate resort which was about the same price, since we were late to the game on points for October.

September through January 1st is the busiest season for DVC, due to lower point costs, better weather, the holidays, and what used to be lower crowds (but isn't anymore). It's getting harder and harder to get anything other than SSR and OKW in those months as a member....much less a renter.
