Target is a tough store card because they went MasterCard on some a couple years back making it a card you can use anywhere. You could HUCA and straight up say you think you were denied for having too many recent cards but one of those is just a store card so could they reconsider without that card? If they too say no just move on and wait them out. You will be good to go come May but a rep isn’t really allowed to tell you that.Dang, I just called and was denied because of 5/24, but I thought I was at 4/24. They are counting a Target store card against me that I was not including in my tally because I didn't think store cards counted. When I asked the rep about it, she was very adamant that if it is on my report, it counts. Did I dream that up?
I've got one card that falls off in April, so I asked her if I reapplied in May then I should be good to go, and she was very vague in that I could reapply at any time and each application would be reviewed independently.
Certainly wasn't the most pleasant person to deal with.....
@Budzooka - I agree 100% - I'd try again. Remain polite but I'd act somewhat confused at why a "store card" would count against you. Any idea who chase pulls for verification. trans, Experian or Equifax? I noticed on credit karma that Equifax has me at 4 open cards and transunion has 5 but 1 was a terminated AU. any concerns on applying for CIP?
Are those all cards opened in the past 24 months?Any idea who chase pulls for verification. trans, Experian or Equifax? I noticed on credit karma that Equifax has me at 4 open cards and transunion has 5 but 1 was a terminated AU. any concerns on applying for CIP?
yeah, I first got the SW premier in early march 2017 . The CSR in June 2017, the CSP in August 2017, SPG November 2017. I apparently was an AU on a wife's card that was coming off in June but I noticed it last month and canceled the card. it was originally from June 2016. Equifax doesn't even list it on my profile but Transunion has it but listed as terminated. Are those all cards opened in the past 24 months?
Hmmmm...worst case you could attempt to Recon around the AU card. There are many reports of people being able to overcome that. Your pace of cards isn't bad...let us know if you end up trying and how it works outyeah, I first got the SW premier in early march 2017 . thank you!!https://www.doctorofcredit.com/knowledge-base/which-credit-bureau-does-chase-pull/
Just used this a few hours ago to check for removing my husband as an AU. Our state shows consistently Equifax (one report for Experian). I pulled Equifax and the AU account was listed as closed.
Will report back thanks. and use a link.Hmmmm...worst case you could attempt to Recon around the AU card. There are many reports of people being able to overcome that. Your pace of cards isn't bad...let us know if you end up trying and how it works out
Typically Chase referral points post on Tuesdays each week. It's some sort of batch process and I think the click had to happen a few days prior to the Tuesday maybe...How long does it take the CIP referral bonus to post?

Holy Smokes!! That note about just calling is super unusual, wowza you must have gotten a nasty rep on that first call- it's just very rare for them to leave a note like that. Def wait for May then! At least you have not lost all hope you're just 6 weeks away, let the countdown commence! No luck. Right off the bat, I got hit with "did you just call?". It was a different rep, but I guess the prior one had left notes and that threw me off a bit, as it was completely unexpected. But, I gave the explanation that I had a chance to reconcile my cards and disagreed with the count that too many cards had been opened because one of those was a store card. He went ahead and pulled up my file and said that ANY credit card opened under my name would count. I argued a bit and said that I was under the impression that store cards did not count because they could only be used at that store and not like a normal credit card, but he wouldn't have any part of that conversation.
Don't know if this is just a Target thing or if this is a change in procedure, but wanted to make you aware of my experience.
Thanks for all the help.
Awesome! I used DH’s referral on Monday, was approved Tuesday. Hoping to see it soon. I was worried because all the chase links expired on Wednesday. Also, every once in a while they miss a Tues and do it on a different day. Chatter on reddit indicates that Chase bonuses did not go out yesterday so if you're watching for one it could come soon

Bummer - my most recent DP on somebody reconning past a store card is December. So it still seems possible (fairly recently) but it's definitely hit or miss with the rep. Perhaps sit on it for a week and try again, lol. Probably can't hurt You may need to ask to escalate the call - I had to recon past an AU card (granted this was back in 2015) but I escalated the call to a second level person and they were much better to work with.No luck. Ouch... have you thought about the SPG Biz? That should keep you busy, regarding MSR, until May when you can apply again. No luck. Right off the bat, I got hit with "did you just call?". Hey if you see an update on that let us know. I just noticed too that OJ mentioned about 3 hours that they hadn't posted yet. I try to watch for it but it gets frustrating when I keep checking and nothing and I don't know if it's "nothing" or they hadn't posted yet. Also, every once in a while they miss a Tues and do it on a different day. Good Afternoon everyone... I live in Virginia just outside DC and we got about 6 inches of snow. The kids are off school today and recently found out that they are off tomorrow. I have thought about applying for the CIP card. I just recently fell under 5/24 and was curious if all the links are working. I sold about 2k on cl last year and thought that would work? Thank you for the heads up on MVMCP because we bought tickets for it yesterday. We will be there the first night of the party. Our dates are 11/5-11/12. Can't wait.... Thanks for any and all of the help....
