How do you like the other team that’s not your favorite in your city? Say if your a cubs fan do you hope the white Sox do good or bad?

I am a White Sox fan but I am also a Chicago fan so hope the Cubs do well, I cheered for them when they won the World Series. It has always bothered me that so many fans of one team or the other treats the “other side” so badly.

I remember back in 1983 having a “winning ugly” shirt for the Sox. At my parents bowling league I had a grown man tell me I needs to take the shirt off because the White Sucks were an embarrassment. I was a 10 year old kid and this person felt the need to be rude simply because he was a fan of the “other” team.

Yankee fan.. adult son is Mets fan. Outside of the 6 times a. Year we play each other, I am fine rooting for the Mets.. I never get the fake cross town rivalry stuff..

Angels fans hate the Dodgers. Dodgers fans hardly know the Angels exist from what I've seen. Dodgers fans hate the Giants instead.

As a Giants fan, I like the A's too. Although A's fans hate the Giants so if I'm conversing with one, I pretend I barely know the A's exist.

If that bothered you, don't go to North Carolina wearing a UNC or Duke shirt. :scared: Ten years old is fair game. :p If the child isn't old enough to talk, the parents are ridiculed. Heck, I live in Florida & occasionally encounter Duke fans who pick on me relentlessly, when I have a UNC shirt on.

To the OP, sorry for going OT, but that's my closest experience with teams coexisting in close proximity. The closest competition between major league sports in Florida are teams in Tampa & Miami (football, baseball & hockey). There doesn't seem to be a rivalry at all. I really don't think fans from one team really care about the other. I live next door to Miami, but am a Tampa Rays fan (we moved here from Tampa). No one even acknowledges the fact that I have on a Rays tee. Marlins & Rays games aren't the least bit contentious. Yankee & Red Sox games in Tampa are a totally different scenario. We got to the point where we wouldn't go to those games, because they often got so ugly. We haven't see the Cubs play in person, but the games against the White Sox & Mets are very different. Although, the teams are in the same city, their fans appear to be very different.

I'm a Mets fan. Until the Mets and Yanks played each other in the 2000 World Series, I didn't root against the Yankees, but I didn't care if they won or lost. After 2000, I root against them a lot more. I do hope they'll help the Mets whenever they play a NL team in interleague play, especially if they play a NL East team.

I'm also a NY Giants fan. But I don't root against the Jets. I've always said that I'd root for them in the post season especially if the Giants didn't make it.

I also root for the Islanders. I HATE THE RANGERS WITH EVERY FIBER OF MY BEING. I hope they lose every game they play. But if I meet a kid fan of the Rangers, I never tell tell them that. I just hope that someday, they will realize they are rooting for the wrong team.

My dad grew up a Browns fan, but he still cheered for the Cardinals.

There is no other baseball team in Los Angeles.

I’m a Dodger fan who hates the Giants.

Well, you got to see the White Sox win a World Series first. And maybe the rude grown man dropped dead before seeing the Cubs win.

It’s easy for us to choose a team, given that Canada only has one! Go Jays go!! :cheer2:
We’re actually in traffic right now on our way to Doger Stadium for our first-ever MLB game - L.A. vs Oakland. Who should we root for? :confused3

Dodgers!

I'm a Yankees fan and I am fine with the Mets. I actually prefer their ballpark, so if I'm in the mood for a game and there's cheap tix, or the Yankees aren't in town, I won't think twice about going to Citi Field to catch a ballgame. I'm also a San Francisco Giants fan and actually follow the NL more closely than the AL, so the Mets stay on my radar pretty well, and I generally find them likable enough that I keep up with how they are doing, even if they aren't a favorite team of mine. I quite enjoy a few of their players too!
