'Ohana luck ran out

It's our must do and we go every trip, usually with good results. Well the odds caught up with me and this past visit the service was terrible. Not that the server wasn't trying, but we had no drink refills, no app refills (until later on) and just generally non-existent service.

When I finally got ahold of the waiter I told him I thought he had too many tables (he did). He had 3 six tops, 2 4 tops, and a couple. I mean really. He was running like a madman and the service was still :snail:

After that things started to get better. We got more apps after the meats came but my kids didn't care and he seemed like he was trying to make it up so I didn't complain further.

Welcome to the new O'hana. That was our exact experience in December which was quite different from multiple past trips. It was really bad and I felt badly for our server who was doing the best she could but was running around like a madwoman. She told us in the beginning of our meal that she had an assistant who would be coming around to help us as well and he never showed up. No app refills, no beverage refills, meat hurriedly plunked on our plates without even asking what we wanted then waiting forever for our check.

We went last year in mid-November and had a good experience. Granted we did not need an app refill and we were at a later seating w/ a less crowded restaurant, but overall had a tremendous dinner from beginning to end. After reading everyone's experiences , I feel very lucky to have had a great experience.

Same thing: when we grabbed our server mid run to ask him about the apps, he was all, 'my assistant should have brought that out already'. Then we saw him talking to a man who was reaching for a small plate and our server stuck the larger plate in his hands. So we got a lot of food after that. But it would have been nicer to get normal amounts of food at a proper interval. Our drinks were not refilled either. And we also waited forever for the check.

We have eaten at Ohana for dinner for the past 9 years at least once a trip. We never had an issue but I could see that it would happen given all the changes at Ohana. We couldn't get a good time for our next trip and we were actually thinking of not going this trip. Now I am thinking about definitely skipping it.

I’ve dined there countless times since the 1990’s, and I’ve never been served bad food.

However, I have encountered bad service a few times. And surprisingly, my last two meals there, we got bad drinks. It’s a shame because one thing we’ll spend a lot of money on is good drinks, but after the last two trips, we’ll probably stick to iced tea next time. Those cocktails cost too much to be served bad-tasting, watered down drinks.

I wonder if they are cutting the number of "assistants". When we ate there last October, our girl was wonderful, but she didn't have an assistant and she ran around like a chicken with her head cut off. She apologized over and over for not being able to keep up.

We ate there in March and didn't have any problems with service as far as how fast the service was. Our ADR was at 4:50 pm. The only issue we had was our server kept forcing more food on us that we didn't actually want and we verbally said no to.

I think that 'Ohana is a victim of it's own success. Rather than properly time service, I think they have decreased table turn around time, so the servers are racing to get the food served and herd guests out. It is not fair to the servers, and is really a problem for guests who have spent a small fortune to be treated like cattle.

My family has "traditions" and once we do something it is a "tradition" for the next trip. One was that we always went to 'Ohana for dinner, but after our last meal, that one is off the traditions list for a good long time.

I thought about trying Ohana since so many people have such great memories---but after reading the posts over the last several months, it is off the table. I don't want to spend that kind of money for my family and I to not enjoy it. I am confident that it could be spent better elsewhere. Maybe Disney will make adjustments in the future for if and when we return to WDW.

'Ohana has been "going downhill" with "terrible service" for a decade now. I think it's just that if you go to a place over and over and over, eventually you're going to have a bad night. That's why I try to mix it up trip to trip. We always do CA Grill on the insistence of my child and i keep bracing myself for the bad one but it hasn't happened yet! I've gone to 'Ohana during periods where lots of bad service was reported and didn't have a problem. we only go every 2-3 trips though and our trips are generally spaced more than a year apart.

We went to Ohana last Thursday evening, a group of 9 at 6:30 and had wonderful service and the food was really a hit with the picky eaters in our group.

I had thought about canceling because of all the bad reviews lately & my picky grandkids but glad I didn't. We had a wonderful time.

I gave it a shot one time. It was lousy (though I thought the server was great!). Its just not for us.

I suspect it's just very inconsistent. We were there Friday night and had good service. Our waiter had a lot of tables but we got refills on everything promptly from about four different people. We never felt rushed, something I was paying particular attention for due to recent reviews.

This was our experience when we went in September. We have done breakfast and wanted to try dinner. The service and food were okay but not what I expected with the reviews it was given. To me it was up to par with fast food.
I honestly (please don't hate) enjoyed Tony's more.

As someone who used to serve tables, that is way too many people for one person to tend to. 3 six tops!!? that's 18 people! plus 10 more people!? 28 people to worry about is too much. My god, that poor guy! Either they were horribly understaffed that day, leading to bigger sections, or Disney is staffing less people per shift. That is absolutely insane.

We went to Ohana for breakfast last October and it was so disappointing! We were so excited for that breakfast & all the food and drinks were amazing but our server was so rude. She definitely didn't have too many tables, I only saw 3 including ours. she was just really uninterested and you could tell she didn't want to be there, i felt like I might as well be at a Denny's and not Disney World :(

Thank you for noticing that it’s not always the servers fault for bad service, no refills, etc. Yes, there are definitely times when it’s the server but there are also many times it’s beyond their control. Ohana’s is a beast to serve at.

Last two trips were awesome. Last time server kept calling me "cousin". Saw him enough I thought he was my cousin.

If there is, say, a 10% chance of a restaurant having an off night, you will experience exactly the same number of off nights if you "mix it up" or if you go to the same place every time.
