R/DISchurners announcement...

So as you probably have seen...r/churning is eliminating referrals. Most of you probably don't care about that, nor should you :) One thing worth noting is how we allow people into DISchurners. I have never and will never mention DISchurners explicitly on r/churning. The ONLY way to join DISchurners is to be a verified member of the DISboards. When people ask us to join on Reddit we ask them for their DIS name and verify they exist over here and have some real activity.

Why do we do this...because I DON'T want controversial members of r/churning (you can probably think of some) coming into our nice community and messing up our culture. @Lain and @Albort (the other DISchurners moderators) are also on board with this. We have never denied anybody from joining DISchurners but we will continue to be careful with who joins.

I'm mentioning this now, because their may be some r/churners members searching for new ways to generate support activity. They likely won't find us unless they are members of the DIS, and if they are, then they are welcome!

An additional comment I'd like to make is we do actively moderate each support thread. This does require some work. Thanks @Lain and @Albort for your assistance! (It is worth noting that for many links we actually have to manually approve the comment...so there is a small amount of moderating that actually occurs). We won't have an issue like r/churning because we don't have a bot or karma or any of that other stuff. Luckily I don't see us ever having 100,000+ people to police either :)

Thanks, that is all! Long Live DISchurners and all the support it's brought our fine folks here! :D

EDIT: I should probably add that if you want to join our private reddit group - just send a PM to @SouthFayetteFan; @Lain or @Albort and we'll get you added!

We are so grateful to you, @Lain, and @Albort for the time and effort you spend maintaining our little corner of Reddit!

Another one bites the dust...I cancelled my wife's SPG biz. We didn't get the free night, I was salty about it...but even if we had gotten the free night I was cancelling, LOL! I have no use for 2 SPG biz cards and a Marriott personal card. They didn't offer a retention, but no big deal.

We are now down to 25 open cards currently. That's the lowest we've been since March 2016!

This will be me in a few months. I’ve got the SPG personal and biz, and will see about getting the Lux before 8/26. I also have the Marriott biz and planning to go for the personal before 8/26. That’s 5 free nights — and that’s just on my cards — which we can easily use around Disneyland. As much as this is appealing, with Amex’s 5 card limit, I simply need to free up some space. I’d prefer to keep my SPG Biz (better categories, and utilization doesn’t report on my credit reports), but that’s the card with the earliest anniversary and I don’t know if I can wait until the SPG personal hits a year.

Dh was approved 6/26 for the gold and self referred and got the 10k bonus already.

Well I did it. I referred myself for the AMEX Business Green from my AMEX Gold Business I got last month. Was instantly approved. So, then I referred DH and applied for him and he was instantly approved also. So, that should be 30,000 MR points with both referrals and bonus right? That was easy. Just starting to get into AMEX MR cards. So, far all business as am below 5/25 and want to get in my Chase Cards before doing any other personal cards. Going to try again for the CIP as soon as I see some things cleared off my credit report. HELOC was paid off in early July and closed but still showing open. Want to get that off before applying again (that was one of the reasons I was denied the first time as I had too much credit available to me). I have also lowered my credit limits and closed both SW cards as it was just over a year on those and I churn those every 2 years. Figure that would free up some available credit also (hopefully).

Thanks guys! I barely know how to upvote, so definitely don’t have to worry about me creating a bot:rotfl2:

Pretty sure I’ve seen @gottalovepluto in the rankings.
Every once in a while.... I've gotten a few referrals from r/churning over the last year, but what I've gotten over the last 6 months I can account for from DISchurners. At first I was really disappointed to see the r/churning links go down, especially with the SPG Biz referral going live again and the changes coming up in the next couple weeks might make that card a bit hot again but then I thought about it and I realized I've only gotten a couple clicks from r/churning and tons of us already have that card anyway... And with the time it takes it to keep up with referral links, it didn't add up to being worth the effort. But the gambler in me kept trying anyway, this is really saving me from myself

What I've admittedly been using r/churning for lately is de-stressing. I've been a bit too keyed up to chill over here so I've been a bit of a smart---donkey? over there the last week :rolleyes1 My favorite part was when someone called me a bitcoin bro (deservedly, and while I know about it I don't trade it and y'all know I'm not a bro):rotfl2: I felt super cool and immediately told my brother who also got a good laugh out of it.

Some thoughts.

1. You said you’re thinking of referring DH to the Hilton Biz. You’d get, I think a 20k HH referral bonus, but the referral offer is 100k HH/$3k/3 months. There’s another offer out there right now that DH could apply for directly and get the 100k HH/$3k/3 months terms, but also a $50 statement credit and first year $95 AF waived, which expires 8/19. https://www.doctorofcredit.com/hilt...-offer-50-statement-credit-annual-fee-waived/ You just have to decide which you value more, the 20k HH referral bonus or $145 in savings.

2. It doesn’t look like you have any Marriott or SPG cards. Do you have a stash of Marriott points you’d like to build on too? I think those of use really trying to fit in last minute cards before 8/26 have a mix of Marriott and SPG cards, so we’d be locked out of new cards in both brands after 8/26. With the new rules, it seems like Marriott wants you to stick with Chase’s cards or Amex’s cards.
@Lain thanks for your thoughts.
Taking note of the two Hilton choices. No Marriott or SPG cards and our Marriott stash has been somewhat depleted. So with that being said, there's no pressure for me to change plans because of 8\26 and the focus should be to continue with adding to the 'healthier' stashes ie Hyatt, Hilton & UR is that correct?

This is me, kept posting links when I could even though I've had like 1 Discover referral and I think 1 Plastiq over there :rotfl:

Thanks for running DISchurners. I've read the files over there, but I'm not good with reddit stuff and have never posted and don't even know how to really participate there. (I've been on the DIS forever). And I really appreciate all the help I have found here as well as the nice, kind feel of the thread. THANKS!

The tough thing about the Marriott/SPG cards is the small window of opportunity left before 8/26. And there are some on reddit who believe that if the bonus check is going through Marriott, that even if they sign up for a Marriott or SPG card before the rules are in place on 8/26, then Marriott could still deny the bonus when you've hit the MSR after 8/26 if you have one of the disqualifying cards and/or received a disqualifying bonus. (I'm not one of those people.)

The Marriott and SPG cards made it very easy to build up a lot of points, and now that they come with a free night anniversary certificate -- very easy to build almost a week of free stays. As @SouthFayetteFan pointed out, there are 4 current Starriott cards (the Marriott Premier Plus, the Marriott Biz, the SPG personal, and the SPG Biz) and soon to be a 5th before the new rules go into effect on 8/26. Similarly, Hilton has the no fee card, the Ascend, the Aspire, and the Biz that all come with signup bonuses. Hyatt has one card (briefly, you could double dip 2 before Chase discontinued signups for the old one).

But going back to Marriott/SPG, if you don't have any of their cards already, how many applications for new cards could you fit into the next 3 weeks? and MSR in the next 3 months? Because after 8/26, basically, if you get a Chase Marriott card, you're disqualified from getting the Amex SPG card, and vice versa. If you had to get them all, it'd be a crazy 3 weeks. You're at 4/24 -- so it would be something like (1) first, get the 75k Marriott Biz (because of 0/30) [$3k MSR]; then (2) get the 75k Marriott Premier Plus (you can get approved for a personal if you're less than 2/30), which would put you at 5/24 [$3k MSR]; (3) get your pick of 2 SPG credit cards (75k SPG Personal with $3k MSR, 100k SPG Biz with $5k MSR, or rumored 125k SPG Lux with $5k MSR) because you're limited to 2/90 by Amex, which would put you at 6/24 or 7/24.

While you're under 5/24, you could instead go for the CIU for 50k UR and still stay at 4/24, or decide if you want to set yourself or DH up for a double dip.

I wonder if we can use UR to book DL tours through the Cruise & Tour Department. The Holiday Time at Disneyland tour looks neat, and it might be fun to book it for our December trip as an add-on experience, but I don't think I'd shell out cash for it. Has anyone tried this yet?
I'd try it because why not but I don't think it will work. They seem to function as a TA (those that know their stuff) and I don't believe Disney TAs can book Disney tours for you.

Just saying hi from wdw! Having a blast. Got tons done this morning and the stars aligned for a last minute FP to SDD!!
Just added hoppers so we can do Epcot tonight since we knocked out everything at DHS this morning.

Got a newly refurbished room at csr. Heading out to explore the resort...the FREE resort.

...There is some discussion here: https://www.reddit.com/r/churningreferrals/ about keeping it going on this sub that u/zackiv31 created.
Welp, my being chill with the r/churning referrals being gone lasted about 1 hour. Of note, apparently the posts are still live and accessible via rankt with no karma req's for now. Wild wild west for links there now if anyone wants to throw a hat in the rings.
